I've been using this scrub for years and years, it's pretty good. I find it quite harsh so I definitely don't use it on my face daily, but maybe 2-3 times a week when I feel I really need to slough off the dead skin cells. I don't find it's done that much to help clear my acne, but it definitely helps remove dead and flaky skin and hopefully this helps clear my pores.
I always use it before applying self-tanning cream, and also use it every now and then after shaving or waxing - really helps smooth my skin.
It smells nice, does a good job of exfoliating, and it reasonably priced, especially if you can get it on sale (and then I don't feel so guilty rubbing it all over my legs).
I have used approximately 3-4 tubes of this.
Gets rid of oil for a while (not all day)
Gets excess skin cells off your face
Can be used as a body scrub in shower if you have some spaces on your body that need clearing up
Doesn't make my sensitive skin break out in rash or redness for hours as some facial cleansers do; not too harsh on my skin
Doesn't seem to heal acne as quickly as I would prefer. It feels as though it helps minimally to moderately (depending on the blemish) but I am looking for something more heavy duty
It has not stopped new acne from forming although I use it once in the morning and once at night
Doesn't do anything for evening skin tone (redness, acne marks, dark spots, anything)
Put warm water on your face before using this product. Let the product sit on the skin for a couple of minutes to really let it do its stuff ( I like to brush my teeth during this waiting period). Rinse off face with cold water. Warm water opens pores while cold water closes them.
Over all, I come back to this occasionally. It is a good product, but not my hg cleanser. Doesn't get make up off completely, so I use coconut oil to remove eye make up.
The Equate (generic) version of this sold at Walmarts is good. The ingredients are basically the same, it's just that Equate uses more of some ingredients and less of others than St. Ives. It's half the price of St. Ives, too. I highly suggest trying the generic form of this, because I haven't noticed any difference in performance.
This is the first exfoliator I've tried that I like. I use it every other day, and then use my cetaphil cleanser & moisturizer, and I've noticed that since I've used it, I don't have nearly as much acne. I didn't like the smell at first but it grew on me and now I find myself smelling it until my nose burns when I use it. It makes my skin super soft and it feels so clean :) I repurchased it once, but I ended up buying the equate brand because Walmart had it on sale for like $1 and I was running short on cash, and so far it seems like it's the same, maybe a little bit lower quality. I'll probably stick with the st. Ives brand next time I buy it. Awesome product (:
I've been using this product for about 3 weeks, and i cant really say i've seen much improvement in my skin, and not many of my blackheads have gone away. But it does smell good and makes my skin feel smooth.
Well, after using for a week on a daily basis, my blackheads are slightly reduced but its not obvious. I really like the scrubbing feeling when i'm applying it on my face. For a big tube, its quite cheap though. Price: $7.10 (U.P)
I swear by this stuff. Recently, I purchased a higher end face wash and actually wound up using this right after bc my face did not feel clean to me. Last August, I was breaking out HORRIBLY and purchased this. I swear it is what helped the most. I use it daily as my face wash (which my combo skin can handle). I feel that the scrub in it not only exfoliates but gives me a deeper clean as well. I find this product is proactive in reducing breakouts, meaning that by leaving your skin well cleansed and well exfoliated, you are much less likely to break out in the first place. I prefer this as opposed to treating existing spots with harsh acne products that dry out my skin. And at this price, what's not to love?
I had a couple of tiny blackheads near the tip of my nose and on my chin, so I borrowed this from a friend in an effort to combat those little colored facial monsters. My friend said it didn't work on him, but perhaps the results could be different for me.I used it a few times now and honestly, not much has changed. The blackheads remain where they are, gloating I bet. The scrub did make my facial skin appear a little softer and cleaner, but it didn't do what it is marketed to do hence the three stars.
On a positive side note, it didn't really dry out my skin or cause any breakouts, so it isn't that much of a disappointment. I will continue to use it up as it is an okay scrub, but I will definitely not be buying (or borrowing haha) it again.
I LOVE this product so much! I recently purchased this again, after not using it for 6 months. I thought it wasn't doing any thing except exfoliating my skin after it got rid of all my blackheads, so I got rid of it. I went back to just exfoliating my skin with my 'H20 Dead Sea Exfoliating scrub',which is more gentle. HUGE mistake, my nose is filled with blackheads! I went back and purchased it again yesterday. I have missed it so much! I can already see my pores getting smaller and a few of my blackheads are already gone!
This is honestly my favorite face product and I do not live without it. I use it strictly for exfoliation purposes and it works like a gem! I see when I do not exfoliate with this I get very gross dry flaky patches. I will never go without this again!
I've been using this scrub for years now, and I absolutely love it. I personally don't like scrubs that have the little gentle cleansing beads because I feel like my skin isn't cleaned properly. So when I found this scrub I was over the moon. It is quite abrasive (I'm guessing due to the crushed walnut powder) so in my opinion would be more suitable for people with less sensitive skin and who like the roughness, in saying that it is also rather drying but seeing as my skin is quite oily I've never had a problem with that so that is another thing to keep in mind. As far as acne clearing, it never fully cleared every spot I had but it definitely kept it under control and for the foreseeable future, I won't be changing anytime soon!
