I have switched to sulphate- and silicone free hair products recently, and this is my favorite conditioner. Other 'cone-free conditioners feel like they sit on my hair, almost gel like. With them, I can barely feel I conditioned my hair after I rinse it out and detangling is a mess. This one hydrates thoroughly, hair is easy to detangle and manage afterwards. It's very rich, so I may switch to a lighter conditioner in the summer, but right now with the weather here, it's a godsend. Scent is divine, very pure and plantlike, but not at all herb-ish. Highly recommended, price isn't bad either. Will repurchase!

This stuff is great, especially in the winter. Since I don't have particularly dry hair to begin with, I have a hard time justifying spending this much on a conditioner. If I was feeling like a good trusty splurge again though, I'd definitely pick this up.
Otherwise, I think I am better off buying my conditioner at the drugstore for my needs.

I have dry hair (done the straightening perm many times, coloured, blow dry, etc) and this product made my hair smooth and more manageable.
I usually shampoo my roots, and apply more conditional/balm on my tips cause thats where the most damage is.. if i have time, ill leave it in for 10 mins and its reallly moisturizing afterwards, and i rinse with cool/cold water when possible.
Has a great scent as well
UPDATE 04/22/2012:
Still use this and the knock off. Since my original review, I have transitioned to 100% natural, chemical free virgin hair. I would now give it 5 stars for my hair vs. the original 2. This conditioner is fantastic, it hydrates, doesn't weigh down, or dry out, brings bounce to curls, and when I straighten allows a beautiful soft bounce for my 4A hair. It is now a staple. Sometimes in winter I mix in jojoba or olive oil when applying for a richer finish in the cold harsh winter months. I still like Kenra Moisturizing and Aubrey Organics products too.
UPDATE 8/30/2011:
I tried the knock off version of this at Sally's - its called GVP Conditioning Balm and it is $5 for 16 oz. It has the exact same ingredients, smell, consistently. That worked for me. I realize that this treatment doesn't really make my hair shiny, strong, or detangled - but it does make it incredibly soft and bouncy if I blow it out. I will continue to use the GVP brand unless I ever find it remarkably reduced somewhere else. I only wish I would have saved the original Matrix container.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I purchased this and tried it for daily conditioning on my texturized 4A hair, and was not impressed. Did not moisturize well enough, and didn't detangle or soften hair much.
When used instead as a deep conditioner, with heat, it performed much better, but still not the best. All in all, I would not repurchase, as I wasnt overly impressed. I actually think that the $7 bottle of Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Conditioner leaves hair with a better finish than the $36 jar of this. For a more richly moisturizing, emollient conditioner, I would recommend Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner or Aubrey Organics conditioner.

I have fine, wavy, color-treated hair, and I use the conditioning balm on my ends while in the shower and my hair literally, literally feels like silk. I do a cold final rinse so that my hair stays shiny, and when I comb my hair after a shower, there are no tangles when I use this. Because my hair can get frizzy due to my waves, this weighs it down *just enough* to avoid those. This tub has lasted me quite a while. Would buy again.
I remember using this stuff years ago and it was a staple, but I was a teenager. My hair is very fine, oily and sweaty roots, dry ends. I use the CWC method. I use this and the GVP from sally's. My thing is to mix this co with aura cherry almond bark. That way I have more slip and it's a protein and cone free combo that always feels so silky when rinsed and after. I mostly airdry and my hair dries so nicely with this combination. I am so upset aura cherry almond bark is being discontinued but that is another review. My SO has thick and wavy hair that loves this co as well. update: 4/16/11 This has a new formula, looks like I'll be sticking with the GVP.

I used this on fine, damaged hair. It weighed my hair down, but my hair smelled lovely and was very smooth and soft.
I have no business buying this for myself in the first place. My mom used to use Biolage, and the wonderful scent has always stuck with me....I wish they would release a perfume or spray version of this stuff. The actual product line, however, has never worked on my fine, color-treated hair. It makes it drier and frizzy, as well as dull.

I have lots of very long, thick, coarse hair. I need to shampoo my hair twice just to get the shampoo to reach the scalp...so I hear about this unbelievable conditioner. I found it at folica.com, so I ordered it and I absolutely love it. When I first dried my hair, it didn't seem like it was that great. My hair seemed to be standing up on its own. But when I woke up in the morning, my hair had calmed down, and it was really shiny and straight!! I will use this product for a long time!!
