My HG mascara would have to have curl-holding power, dramatic volume, decent length and be smudge-proof. CG professional WP is my second WP mascara, which I only tried out on a whim after my sister didn't want hers anymore.
I gave it a 4 overall because it fulfilled 3 out of my 4 requirements. I got amazing curl-holding power that lasted all day, my lashes were well defined and lengthened and it was virtually smudge proof after a long day at school. It would be HG material but it lacked dramatic volume which is something I crave the most. I use CG professional WP as my first base coat after curling my eyelashes and then layering on a volumizing mascara afterwards like maybelline full n soft to get the effect I want. Overall I am quite satisfied.
I couldn't find my favorite mascara Cover Girl Marathon Mascara. But they were pushing this and I was hoping that it had the same formulation and would be as good.
I was REALLY disappointed. I tried this every day for a week or so. It's supposed to be waterproof but it smudged on my face even under normal wear. Raccoon eyes within an hour every day. So I tossed it in the trash. What a waste!
Hey Cover Girl...bring back Marathon Mascara!
I got this during at CVS 75% off sale coming to 2 bucks and change. I have switched to waterproof mascara because of my super water eyes. This product is pretty good, I worked out in it and took a shower. No smudging or flakes. It lasted all day on my lashes and made them very dark.
I have to say I really like the tube. I have a ton of mascaras with all the frills, but something about this tube makes is seem so practical. Sometimes, I play with it when I am sitting studying.
Overall its a good product and if you can get it dirt cheap like I did you should go for it. Especially if your like me and need for it to stay on during class, gym, etc.
This product is good; there's no clumpling, lashes separate well, and it really is waterproof. With a little baby oil, I can remove the product easily enough w/o rubbing off my lashes. The negative for me, is that my lashes are sparse and this doesn't do enough to make them look dramatic. For those for thick lashes, this will work.
This is the best mascara I have ever used. It was the first tube I ever picked up when I was in high school, but in the interest of experimentaion, I tried out many other products over the years and eventually forgot about this product. Then one day in the drugstore I suddenly remembered this, and now with more experience to compare, I realized how well this mascara wore and got it again. It holds my curl extremely well, does not flake, thickens and lengthens, and the formula has a nice consistency. AND it's probably the cheapest mascara in any drugstore!
Great stuff! I used this for the first time, when I went on vacation to Daytona Beach, Florida last year and it was great. Never smudged, smeared, or dripped off.
I would definitely use this at the beach or any kind of watery environment you are in (if you still like wearing your makeup at these type of locations).
CON: The only bad thing about it was washing it off. It would take a good 2 days to come off entirely. It's waterproof, so I guess that's why it's hard to take off after using. It has to like "wear" off, to come off. All the hot water and soap won't get it all off your lashes.
So, I'd save this kind for like a long vacation at the beach. But for no where else, really.
I'm really surprised that this mascara wasn't rated higher! I was on the search for another mascara, since CG seems to be phasing out my beloved WP Multiplying. :( This one, however, works almost as well at defining and lenthening. It does a pretty good job of thickening, too, without weighing lashes down or getting too clumpy. I've tried all sorts of HE and LE mascaras, and I usually love the rubber-bristled mascara brushes, but I've found that the CG and Maybelline mascaras that have these tend to ball the mascara at the end of the lashes. They need to take a tip from Rimmel when it comes to those brushes. CG also needs not phase everything out besides their Lash Blasts! I'll probably keep repurchasing this inexpensive treasure untill it gets d/c too.
EDIT: I'm bumping this up to a 5. I keep reaching for it daily, and even when I feel like trying a new mascara, I always come back to this one and am consistently reimpressed. :)
For some reason, I find myself repurchasing this mascara. It seems to work wonders for me, and I might be in denial, but this might just be my holy grail mascara.
It thickens my lashes, doesn't smudge or flake at all, holds a curl all day, lengthens my lashes, doesn't irritate my eyes, and makes my eyes just look dramatic and gorgeous.
I emphasize my eyes more than anything else on my face, so a good mascara to open up my asian eyes is the main concern. This really does pull through for me.
I have tried many drug store mascaras. I find myself coming back to this one and Fantastic Lash. These two i love alot!! i have been using them both for many years now. i use 2 coats of mascaras. first coat of fantastic Lash, and second coat from Professional. I like the bristles, they are small and not too soft, so it separates my lashes. Will definitely keep buying.
There are 3 things I really like about this mascara: The first is how SMOOTHLY and evenly it goes on. The second (which was a surprise), it that it actually CURLS my lashes! They don't even advertise that as one of the features, but this does a better job of curling than Maybelline's Sky High Curves, which is supposed to curl. The third thing I like is how long-lasting it is. If I don't bother cleaning it off at night it will last through day TWO for me. There's something really natural-looking about the way it wears off. I don't get flakes or patches. It just gradually gets lighter.
