this is the first color i bought out of this collection. the color is build-able but you will never get the color of the tube. it lasts for at least two hours then makes your lips look more pink. i like that it's a cream color and has no shimmer what so ever and looks glossy. if you want the color to last longer. i suggest apply the color then pat in the color with a finger and repeat until you get the opacity you want.
These balms are frequently compared to Clinique Chubby Sticks, which I love and use daily (to the point where my other lipsticks and glosses are sitting lonely in the drawer). When I heard this comparison I was very excited at the prospect of getting the same thing for 1/2 the price. Well, it's not the same thing. Chubby Sticks go on more smoothly, sink in better and are more moisturizing. Just Bitten goes on more waxy and sits more on top of the skin. I would compare them to the feeling of Burt's Bees (the basic lip balm, not the flavored or colored ones). It kind of "balls up" on your lips as you rub them together. In addition, as others have noted, it goes on unevenly--not only did the product fade unevenly, leaving a colored "ring" around my lips, it really went on unevenly to begin with. Some of this might have to do with the strong color of this particular shade. I grabbed it because another MUA'er compared it to Lipstick Queen Medieval. It could just be my lip chemistry, but this immediately went hot fuschia on me--it looked like when I was 10 and used a magic marker to paint "lipstick" on or the lipstick shade that all old ladies used to wear in the 70s. (Shudder) Making matters worse, it stained my lips hot fuschia to the point that I 1) went to dinner 2) had drinks 3) Removed my makeup using facial oil 4) slept all night 5) washed my face in the morning and STILL had fuschia lips. If you want to try these, make sure the store takes returns of opened product. I do think there might be a better color out there, but I'm at the age in life where I'd rather spend the extra $8 to be able to test the product in store and know I'm happy with it---not have to go back to the drugstore umpteen times to return something and get my $7 back.
This is one of those products that you want to love despite its flaws. I love applying this product, the color is a nice fun red that is buildable. This product isn't super long lasting so its not really a "stain". It probably last a good 2-4 hours. It has that problem of when it starts to fade it creates that old lady looking ring around the lips and can be drying. I probably will repurchase, I'm a sucker for lip products like these.
Romantic is a true red that even when the balm feel has faded, leaves me with a light cherry stain.
I use Revlon's Just Bitten Stain + Balm (the marker with the balm on one half) on a regular basis. Without putting the balm on top of the stain, it's drying. So, I had to try this new product- Kissable Balm, figuring it would be way more moisturizing. Problem is that it still feels somewhat drying on me. I still feel like I need to add gloss or chapstick on top of it. :(
However, this is a nice substitute for lipstick. So much more forgiving.. (given an hour) you don't have to worry about transfer. I will continue to buy for this reason.
Really love the colour of this. Brightens up my face nicely and you can apply as little or as much colour as you need. It lasts a decent amount of time (Anywhere from 2 - 4 hours). Will definitely repurchase this colour and other colours in the future.
I was reading a lot about this products and they recently were available in Mexico so I bought the Romantic tone. It's a bright red that suits my lips because they are very pigmented and look very nice. I use it almost everyday to go to school because it lasts a lot of hours and doesn't look like a bright red normal lipstick. Can't wait to try other colors of the line!
I am so impressed with Revlon's new balm stains! I have Romantic and Rendezvous and they both look great on my NC20 skin tone. They're both extremely bright on my medium pigmented lips, so if I'm not in the mood for a super bright pop of color, I'll apply a light layer and then blot it with a tissue. I'm not sure if there is some inconsistency issues between colors, but I think Romantic is slightly more balmy and moisturizing than Rendezvous, but it's not a huge deal..a little lip balm on top of Rendezvous fixes the issue. I love how this is a balm lipstain because it's not drying like other liquid lipstains and doesn't flake or peel off. It also doesn't leave that dreaded white film on the inner part of my lips. Upon application, I feel a little tingle from the mint, but it's not annoying and it fades after a few minutes. I noticed that if I eat something right away, the color fades, but if I give it an adequate amount of time for the color to set, it lasts almost the entire day. A little retouching makes it perfect again, but it's not necessary. The only thing I dislike is the amount you get in the tube. If you twist the entire thing up, you realize that you're not getting a whole lot of product and for the price (around $8.99 at Rite Aid), it seems like a rip off. Don't get me wrong; I'll keep repurchasing this product, but only when there's a sale or if I have a coupon. For some reason, I can't justify paying almost nine dollars for a drugstore lip product. Besides that, I highly recommend these balm stains and plan on purchasing a few more colors :)
With my NC 35 olive/tanned skin this shade is WRONG! Looks bright orangey red and for some reason makes my skin look OLD! I like bright lipsticks (and subdued also), I like orange, and love red, but Romantic clashes with my skin horribly. Gave it 2 lippies 'cause I like the formula, though it does wear away in the middle of the lips first after a couple hours....I just reapply!
EDIT: Gave it 2 more lippies after a few months of use - my skin tone lightened up and now this shade looks great! Lasts a few hours and works best with liner, as it tends to bleed a touch. A bit drying, but texture is good on lips - slightly slick. Has a bit more body than just a lip stain.
Dispenser is a big plus - twist up and you don't need much to give good color. Color is very buildable. Seriously, I've worn this about 3-4 days a week for 3 months and haven't had to twist it up yet!
If you try it, be careful not to judge the shade too soon! I have a few others and the shades looked awful at first too, but when they settle into your lips, the shades change. Give it a try!!!
I've got 5 of these and this shade has to be my favourite one! On my medium-pigmented lips it shows up like a summery coraly red.
I get dry bits on my lips all the time, no matter how much I exfoliate and moisturise, so stains or long-lasting lipsticks have never really been my thing, since even with lip balm or what-not on top they still cling to my dry patches and end up looking horrible.
This however really is different! I'm not gonna say they don't emphasize my dry patches at all, because they can do once the balm wears off and you're left with just the stain, but it's definitely not as bad as with any other stains I've tried. And also, I found that if I apply a lip balm as soon as my lips feel dry, then I don't get the clingyness to dry patches at all - win!
In my experience, if I apply just one coat for a sheerer look, this wears of rather quickly, and it can apply a bit uneven as well. But if I apply two coats for the full bright colour, this lasts sooo long - literally lasts me through a meal and a few drinks, without getting patchy and leaving me that ring on the edge of my lips that other products can do when they wear off. I am in love.
UPDATE: 27 Oct 2012. The lids on these things are very flimsy! Three out of the ones I have and use frequently have cracked so they came off in my bag, leaving some delightful stains. If you've used quite a bit of the lippy and are careful to twist it back into the tube, then I guess it's less of a problem, but very annoying nonetheless.
Fantastic. These aren;'t in Canada yet but I dipped down into the states to pick up a couple. This is an awesome sheer red that lasts and lasts. They are a lot like the tarte product but I think these are better: better packaging by far.
I got this colour and honey and both are winners. Once they're in Canada I'll pick up more and buy a couple of back-ups of Romantic.
