I have oily, acne-prone skin that gets v. v. dry and scaly across the cheeks.
I got this as a free gift, so I'm not sure how much it costs. It's all right. I prefer gel moisturizers, and this one is pretty good for me in the summer, because it goes on smoothly and lightly, and doesn't make my face feel like I have some heavy cream smeared on it. However, I find that it isn't moisturizing enough to really combat my dry spots.
I'd probably buy this for use in the summer, but I wouldn't use it regularly. I like the DDMG much better.
i first had this as a sample in a GWP. i used the sample all up because i really liked it and now its my HG!! i like it because it's like a gel-texture that is not heavy at all...not greasy either...and it really makes your skin supple. makeup easily glides over it and moisturizes enough that it doesn't feel thick. i hadn't had a moisture that i was satisfied in such a long time. it is expensive though...but a little goes a long way.
BEST. MOISTURIZER. EVER!!!! For those of you who like that refreshing feel and light moisturizer of toners, this is the perfect moisturizer. I like using toners because it gives me moisture but not enough moisturizer on its own...moisture surge extra is like a combo of toner and lotion. Its light, non greasy (this is not greasy at all!), gel texture is just so perfect and gets the job done. My face feels so good after I use this. I can use this in the winter, it is moisturizing enough. I can't stress how light and refreshing this moisturizer is. Love it! I use this and then I apply primer, then foundation. The price is a little steep but it is soo worth it.
I LOVE this moisturizer. I don't have an extremely oily face, but anytime I have put any kind of moisturizer on my face (oil-free moisturizers mostly, along with others) immediately after, I would have to use an oil blotting sheet before I could put my makeup on...it was SO FRUSTRATING! This has been happening for years and I randomly remembered a sample of the Moisture Surge from years ago and remembered liking it so I went and got it from Macys. Its amazing! I put proactive on and then the Moisture Surge and theres is no oil at all! My skin feels very moisturized but without a sticky or slick feeling. I didn't think it was possible. I just put my foundation on top of that and I'm good to go! Honestly, if anyone else has the problem of oily skin right after putting on moisturizer I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this product. I would have given it a 5 except it doesn't have sunscreen in it. Its a little pricey (its not from CVS) but its absolutely worth it!
I have used this on and off for years now depending on what my acne is doing. I like it because its oil free and totally ungreasy so i dont have to worry about my pores getting even more clogged, it absorbs nicely, and doesnt irritate my skin. The main problem with it that the moisturising effect doesnt last very long and my skin gets dry again towards the middle of the day. It would probably be perfect with a more emolient moisturiser over the top to seal in the hydration that this product gives but I really can't be bothered with 2 moisturisers. Also it would be a fantastic summer moisturiser if it had spf in. Anyway despite its problems its a good product ang one of the few that doesnt clog my skin so I will continue to buy this when my skin is bad.
I read all the reviews and bought it. And I have to tell you it is way more expensive here in Korea than in other countries.
I've stopped using this product because it made my usually normal skin dry up, it even gave me wrinkles around the nose. I bought it thinking to give my other moisturizers a boost for winter but it had the opposite effect of what I wanted. I love the pretty pink color and I love the matte finish and really yummy gel texture. But I hate the jar packaging, the wrinkles it gave me and the 'I'm so dry, my face's gonna crack' feeling it gave me too.
This is the best moisturizer for my winter skin. I have tried just about everything, and this was the closest to La Mer for about 1/4 of the price! I love the light gel texture and the cooling effect. I will use this stuff forever.
My skin get very dry, flakey, almost-papery dull, and extra sensitive in Winter (my Aveda tourmaline-charged moisturizer was making my skin burn!), and a friend recommended this.
I was hesitant due to price, and the light, almost gel-like texture -- I thought I needed a really heavy cream. But the Clinique SA explained it didn't contain more moisturisers or oils, but was a humectant -- would draw moisture out of the air. She applied a dap to my cheeks (over my makeup), and instantly my skin looked better. Of course, dapbbing on plain water would make dry skin look dewey for a moment, but I still bought it -- the humectant line and the product.
I've been using for about three months (Nov-Jan), and my skin has rarely looked so fresh in any month -- definitely not in Winter. Not sure if I'll keep using into summer, I may switch to an SPF / anti-aging moisturizer for warmer months. But I will definitely use again next winter!
This is must for my dry and cranky winter skin. I usually use a lighter moisturizer in the summer and fall, but once winter hits, my skin needs extra moisture or it becomes flaky and tight.
Moisture Surge is a good lightweight gel that really does pack in extra moisture. I'm using it in addition to my usual moisturizer (Clinique's Continuous Rescue) and have found that the tightness and flakiness has been seriously reduced. I've started drinking extra water too as a means of helping to stay hydrated.
The only thing I really don't like about this is the pot. While you get a lot of product for the $$$ (one jar/pot will last for months and months), it seems unsanitary to keep dipping fingers in to scoop out product.
I'll keep using this, though, until spring, when my skin will go back to its normally combi/oily self.
