I was recommended to use a thin slanted but stiff brush to apply the gel-creme eyeliner. The gel-creme texture is superb, as is the lasting power. I have the one in Granite Ink and it can be made to look edgy and dramatic or pencil soft. It's very controllable and takes very little time to apply. Doesn't smudge like pencil and doesn't flake and fall like conventional liquid eyeliner. Comes off very easy with a standard creamy lotion cleanser.
I LOOOOVVVVVEEEE IT! (Think opera voice) It stays on ALL DAY. Even with eye cream on underneath, no smudging, no siree bob! I love it because it's so easy to get in between the lashes for a really dramatic polished look. It's smooth and dries quickly and I love it. Did I mention that I love it? Well I do. I love it.
Right now I apply it with a lip brush because I can't decide between the BB ultrafine eye liner brush and the Mac 266, both of which other reviewers seem to recommend. My lip brush is going to have to fulfill it's lip brushing duties again soon, but in the meanwhile it works. Can I just say that the pretenders to the gel liner throne (ie Stila smudge pot) are just that . . The packaging might be similar but the product could NOT be more different. You know the difference between night and day? Yeah. . . like that but WORSE.
I love this liner. By the end of the day, it's the only thing left on my super-oily lids. I bought it in bronze shimmer. The color is beautiful, and a little goes a long way. It's so smooth to apply, and really does wear all day. I've never tried any other gel liner, but I am so sick of pencils which fade and smudge, and liquid liners which are too harsh looking on me and more difficult to get a straight line. This is exactly what I was looking for, it's very versatile; I can get a nice smokey look or a straight, defined line. Definite repurchase.
*** UPDATE ***
I wish these came in smaller (yes, smaller) containers. At first this stuff was lovely, but after having it for a couple months, it's dried out significantly and therefore doesn't go on as smooth as it did before. You only need a *tiny* bit for each application, so it takes forever to use up, and when it's sitting around for that long, it gets dry. One lippie removed. =(
I truly love this eye liner, because I have oily lids and eye products slide right off. This stays all say long, no matter what. It is smooth and it looks really great. I took points off for how quickly it dries out. I only used half my pot (and I use it pretty regularly) and it has become too dry to use. This product is too expensive for it to dry out so quickly.
I love this product! This is the best eyeliner I have ever used!
so far this is the best eyeliner ive used... and i have tried alot ... from the riteaid type to christian dior. and this has lasted the longest... i use it both on the top of my lid and on my lower lid and at time i put anextra liner at the bottom to make it last even longer... i put it on then i keep an eyepencil with me just incase.... the packaging though (it being in a lil tubby thing) make its hard to take around with me to reapply... thats my only complaint... other than that LOVE THIS PRODUCT....
I love this liner. It did take me a little while to get used to putting it on. I kept trying to only put a little on the brush, but you really need to add a bit more to make sure that it is a smooth line. Then I watched the saleswoman put it on the lower lashes by using what was left over after doing the upper lashline.
It does dry up if it isn't used frequently.
I love love love this product. Having asian eyes, it is always difficult to find an eyeliner like this that stays in place the whole day smudge-free (I have oily lids). I bought it in the colour espresso and I'm glad I didn't get it in black, I think it would have been too hard, although I have black hair. I use it together with the Bobbi Brown brush. The only thing I don't like is the packaging, the product dries out with time and I think it's not very hygienic either.
I have this one in black and it did smudge on me after a while. I think that if you tend to have oily eyelids that that would contribute to the smudging. Or I can't seem to get my line thin enough. I wish I had gotten the ultra fine eyeliner brush in short instead of professional...duh! So I would recommend using the short handle. It does dry fast so you should work fast with it. I don't think I'd buy it again just because it'll probably last me forever and I just needed one staple stay-proof eyeliner.
Update:I finally figured it out! After much trial and error, I finally realized I need to start in the center of my eye when applying this eyeliner instead of the corner...Duh! I totally should have known this! Will be buying more shades.
These are hands down the best eyeliners I have ever, ever tried. Smudgeproof, creaseproof, disappear midday-proof. This is everything you wish Mac paints or powerpoint eyeliners could be (even though I still love them).
