Hate that it doesnt have a pump.
You end up wasting product.
The foundation is really heavy. It doesnt feel light on the skin.
Its quite expensive for a drug store product. anyways wouldnt buy this again..
I work with animals by day and go go dance by night. SOmetimes I only have 30 minutes between jobs or places i need to be and so finding a long lasting foundation has been a quest of mine for a while. THIS IS THE BEST ONE I'VE TRIED SO FAR! i love it! Its def. enough coverage to be my one- step make up go to when i'm in a rush. It lasts me all day-
the only thing is i have to add a bit of dry powder mid-day because it tends to look a little dewey on my t-zone by mid/end of day.... also the smell is strong. I asked my boyfriend if he could smell my face when we kissed because i was semi- paranoid about it because of how strong the make-upy scent is. [ he couldn't so i will take that as me being over sensitive]
all in all though def. worth the price! Ive tried half of sephora and still this drugstore find takes the cake
I am a very budget conscious girl, and since my teens I have always used the most affordable makeup available, usually Cover Girl or Maybelline. Most recently I was using Maybelline's foundation mousse, I loved how soft and easy it was to apply, but by lunchtime it would fall into my pores, I would be quite shiny and have a slight orange tint to my face. One day at work I didn't have time to touch up and someone asked me why I was sweating - I must have looked that shiny - I was horrified! And so, it was time for a change, and to raise my budget slightly...

I read the reviews and decided to try ColorStay - and have fallen in love!

Here is a quick rundown of my daily face routine:
- Wash my face with a natural cleanser.
- Tone my face with some witchhazel on a cotton bud, let dry.
- Apply a natural moisturer, let dry.
- Put a 'pea-sized' amount of Revlon Colorstay into a tiny bowl, and then using a damp makeup sponge, gently apply to my face, layering more where required.
- Finally, I set my makeup with Cover Girl TruBlend Mineral Powder.

Come 12:00pm - my face still looks great! My foundation has not slid off my face or into my pores. Any redness on my cheeks or light scarring is still well covered. A light touch up with powder is required (for slight shine). And then once again around 5:00pm if I plan on going out.

To combat the remaining shine I am looking into a natural primer - have ordered Pure Luxe Cosmetics Eraser to see how this goes. :)

Back to my budget, I buy this on special at Target when they have a 20% or 25% off makeup sale. This saves me about AU$5!

And a bottle lasts a long time! I started using the bottle on the 2nd Feb 2010, today it is 23 May 2010 and I still have a few weeks left I'd say.

The reason I gave it 4 stars, is because I wish it was a natural based product!

But I highly recommend this! If you find your foundation slides off half way through the day, you will be really impressed once you try this! Just a tip; don't cake it on and it will look really natural! :)
I do not use foundation daily. I only use foundation when im going out. I live in the tropics so its almost always HOT! Even during the day when i sweat i still do get oily but when i blot with the sheets the makeup doesn't move, streak or run and looks like i just applied it! So i'm really happy about that.
I apply with my clean fingertips and it's very easy to keep it light and build for more coverage. Im not that upset about the pump, other than hygienically, its not cute. Im fine with using a little bit at a time and build coverage in areas where i need it more. It does have a slightly chemical scent but it doesn't bother me that much.
All in all i truly love this foundation and have them in two shades ;)
I will re-purchase.
However i wont stop looking for a foundation that will help keep my oily skin in check!
I don't necessarily need the oily/combo formula b/c I have drier skin, but the o/c shades run lighter than the dry/normal ones. I have this in Ivory and long story short, I love it!
-stays on 12+ hours
-good coverage if you apply it correctly (I stipple it)
-does not break me out
-awesome color selection
-it needs a pump
-can show dry patches if I don't moisturize my skin well enough (that is my skins fault, but still)
I started using Revlon colorstay after I got my first full time office job. Before that, I used Loreal True Match. The True match did work for the time that I used it, which was in college and when I had a part time job. After that, I think the tone of my skin changed. I started getting dark blotches and more scars (from acne) I then got a good job and I had to work from 8 to 4. I used my normal makeup but started to realize that, it was really streaky by the end of the day (I have really oily skin). I decided to try the colorstay and quickly found out that it was AMAZING! I've been using it for about 2 yrs now and I have found nothing that could compare. Keeps my skin under control and it lasts more than 12 hrs I think.
Being of "cool" skin tone,I never really realized that a foundation shade that had a tinge of warmth/yellow would make such a huge difference [in a good way] for me.
This was my first time buying a Revlon Foundation,I bought RCw/SF for Oily/Combo Skin;in shade "FRESH BEIGE".When I got it home however,I noticed that although it was an ideal shade for my face, that it looked quite yellow-ish,in comparison to all my other foundations;not on my face, but in the bottle I mean. When set side-by-side,all the others looked a bit more "bluish" or "pinkish" compared to the RC Fresh Beige.
The surprise was that this shade looked better on me,gave me a "healthier" looking color/complexion,then all those other foundations.I've been using it for about 7 months now.As far as controlling oil & lasting/staying-power,I'd rate it at the higher-end of all the other many foundations I've tried.
I am VERY OILY,so nothing is going to keep me shine-free all day long in the spring/summer/fall months...but this foundation, combined with an 8$ bottle of Rimmel Primer has proven to be my [somewhat] HG for now,at least on days when I need a full-coverage,due to acne.
It has not caused any break-outs like many of the typical full-coverage foundations can, however I do have to be careful during my monthly-cycle;when my acne is at it's worst,by careful I simply mean washing it off for the night earlier then normal;or as soon as possible that day.
This make-up does dry/set quickly, which to me,is a good thing..but to some it's not.The key to remember with Colorstay,is to do one section of the face at a time [vs smearing it all on at once].But,once you get the hang of working with a quick-setting foundation;it's just like any other.
I think if "I" can be happy with this foundation;considering all my skin issues [pre-mature lines/aging;acne;oil;visible pores;light scarring;ect],then this foundation should be acceptable,if not "loved" by anybody else, particularly anybody over 40,who is seeking medium to full coverage.
The down-side,to many, is the packaging.I agree,it can be sloppy, but if you buy/like/love this stuff;then you'll get-over that part quickly. If you're seeking full coverage that is "quality",this is for you,it's comparable to Department Store, yet a fraction of the price. :-)
(2/5) I bought this on sale for $10.99 at London Drugs in "Ivory". It's regular price is $18.99 at LD, but varies from store to store. I think it's a very fair price.
(3/5) At first glance, the packaging is appealing because it is plain, yet attractive. I like make up products that are very simple and contain mostly black so this product suits me well. However, it does not come with a pump like the Photo Ready foundation. So you can imagine that it will get a little messy and sometimes you will end up pouring out more product than you will use.
Everyone is raving about how Revlon Colorstay provides full coverage, but I have to say that I disagree and say that it is a MEDIUM TO FULL COVERAGE. I've been using MAC Studio Fix Fluid before I purchased this and although it is much thicker, it provided more of a full coverage as opposed to this stuff. I don't really mind this though because I'm getting a much lighter feel instead of feeling like I'm wearing a mask on my face. For areas that need more coverage, I just use a dab of concealer over top, which is not a big deal at all.
I use this with a primer and it stays on for a really long time, around 8 hours or so. Of course there are areas on my face (around my mouth and nose) that are left with little to no foundation by the end of the day, but that is the same with any foundation. I thought I might add that this stuff takes FOREVER to get off of my foundation brushes. I'm guessing that is a good thing as far as staying power goes.
The color selection is rather limited but I managed to find my exact color match so I am pretty happy in this department.
I've heard people saying that this foundation has a funky, latex-y smell to it. I find that it somewhat smells a bit like coffee...? Now, because I've used MAC Studio Fix Fluid, which is known to have a terrible smell, I am in no place to complain about the smell of this foundation. :)
My overall rating is 5/5 and yes I will definitely be buying this again. I don't think I'll be trying any other foundations for a while.
This foundation is definitely great for special occasions when you want your foundation to stay on all day without touch ups and it stays matte and no shine but I wouldn't recommend this as an every day foundation, I personally find it too heavy to wear every day and if you have sensitive skin it will most likely clog your pores and cause acne, good product for once in a while but I probably won't ever buy it again.
Oh crap. I wrote another review of this under the wrong formula i think. i prefer the oily/combo formula because its just ligher in consistency but not in coverage. this covers just as well as the drier formula. this is my HG liquid foundation. I just wish it had a pumo bottle. I dont like poring it out and getting it all over the bottle and makeing a mess. that aside, this is completely affordable and ive never found a liquid foundation i liked better.
