I bought two of these (Blackest Black and Eggplant) and I had different thoughts on both. Blackest Black is DEFINITELY black! Amazingly pigmented and creamy. I really loved the color and easy application. However, my love for it ends there because it smudges so easily. The Eggplant, on the other hand, had hardly ANY pigmentation and it never seemed to show up on my lids.
Very unfortunate because I really wanted to like it. I was looking for an alternate to liquid eyeliner, and I figured this was my next best bet. Oh well, the search continues. Maybe if it was possible to make a waterproof?

I really love this liner, and the brush it comes with isn't terrible either.I tried MAC's version first and it was an absolute bust - flaking, smearing, fading all over my oily lids. No such nonsense with this product! As I've said, my eyelids are very oily, but my eyes also water all the time, mostly because my motorcycle is my main mode of transportation, rain or shine. This gel liner never budges! Highly recommend - don't waste your money on MAC!

I really had high hopes for this product because so many reviewers said that it didn't budge on them. Unfortunately, this wasn't smudge-proof on me...but then again, I have had alot of trouble finding eyeliners/mascaras that don't smudge. However, it is a really decent eyeliner if you don't have oily skin.

PROS:
- The colour is definitely a true black.
- Nice creamy texture, easy to apply smoothly on the lid
- Very cheap for a gel liner! It costed me $AUD17 (at Priceline).
- The brush is comes with is quite good, but after there's a bit of product on it, the bristles start to separate a bit, so the application isn't as easy (just need to squish the brush back into shape). I also like that it is a short-handled brush, I find short handled brushes are easier for applying eyeliner.
- I think there is a decent amount of product (and well, for the price...not much you can complain about).

CONS:
- I think the product is actually a little irritating on my eyes. I found that my eyes got a bit itchy when I wore this (for the record, I wear contacts).
- Smudged. I had black imprints on my lower lids by midday. I have also tried wearing it with extra powder on my lower lids to prevent the transfer, but that still leaves a slight smudge.
- I've noticed that the product gets a bit dry on the top, so you need to swipe the brush in the product a few times if you haven't used it in a while

REPURCHASE? No, but only because I need something that won't smudge. IF I didn't have oily skin, then I would probably repurchase as it's very cheap and a decent product.

If I could I would give it a 3.5, but I removed 1 lippie because it wasn't smudgeproof and another lippie because it irritated my eyes.

UPDATE: I've changed my rating to 4 lippies. Since adding an eyelid primer to the picture and going over the liner thoroughly with a matte black eyeshadow to set it, it's got pretty damn good lasting power. I give it a 4/5 though because of the extent to which I must go through in order to stop it from transferring to my lower lids/smudging.

Bought this in black because although Bobbi Brown gel is my absolute favorite I only use black eyeliner for fancy occasions, my everyday is Bobbi Brown Espresso, and I don't get glammed up often enough to shell out 21 dollars on a liner that I won't use much. This was half the price, plus it came with a brush that I now also use with my Bobbi gel (never bought her brush because it is expensive).
This stuff probably has as much lasting power as the Bobbi, but the formula is more creamy and liquidy which means that it smudges while the Bobbi doesn't (and the Bobbi isn't dry at all, it's perfect and I found this one a bit too runny for my liking). It stayed on very well overnight. You will find smudges if you touch your eyes or leave it on for a very long time, but even if you wipe them away the lines will still be there, unlike pencil.
This stuff is also kind of messy when you are applying it, since it is more on the runny side if you use a bit too much your line will look very harsh very quickly. Then again, the runny-ness makes it a good candidate for those who like to blend and smudge their liner. It's good for smokey eyes especially since it has a longer staying power than pencil liner.
I found that it had a very slight blueish tint, especially when combined with eyeshadow. One time I wore it with eyeshadows ranging from silvery gray to slightly silverish white and the liner turned a bit navy-tinted in certain lights.
The brush is pretty decent but if you don't wash it every few days or week tops, the product starts to accumulate and you won't get a good even line. It is decent and a very nice bonus though.
The color is definitely a deep black, not a soft black, and looks a lot like liquid liner when you put it on. For drugstore stuff it's pretty decent. I just wish they made more colors, and that it didn't smudge. I never wore it in the heat and humidity but I have a feeling it may smear in those conditions.

UPDATE: I just tried this stuff again. I bought my Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in October and this stuff in November or December and I tried them both out on the same day last week. The Bobbi Brown did not seem dried out, flaky, or less pigmented with time, this stuff was all flaky looking and really runny. I guess you get what you pay for. If you replace it often it shouldn't be bad, but paying 10 dollars every 2 or 3 months for this stuff isn't cheaper than buying the Bobbi Brown for 21 bucks once or twice a year.

I got this eyeliner in Black. It was nice and pigmented, but when I used it on both my lash lines, it migrated. It got all around my eyes and into my eye. It caked under my contacts and irritated my eyes. On the bright side, I like the brush that came with it. But still, I returned it.

I have been using this for about 1 month now, and it is a very good gel liner. I have super oily hooded lids and i wear this over TFSI or UDPP. This never transferred or moved to my upper lid area. Considering our hot and humid weather here in the Philippines, that's saying a lot! Would buy again once I run out. The brush it comes with is pretty decent too, but i prefer to appy it with a flat liner brush.

Overall this product is a good buy. I bought mine in CVS for about $10, it came with a brush (a very decent brush!)

The color I got was shimmer black, more of a soft black. It is a bit sheer compare to Bobbi or MAC so you really need to layer it up (2-3 times will give you a nice dark line) but the color itself hold up REALLY well.

I wore just this eyeliner to my 90min hot yoga class (HOT YOGA...it was a 100F degrees room)...I was sweating like a dog and there's not a smear on the eye line!! Pretty amazing for drugstore brand!!

Definitely good stuffs!!

so i first purchased this in black last year, my first every gel eye liner and i liked it. the only problem was over time the consistency went funny and it smudged more? :S so then i tired the bobbi brown gel liners (love those) however i do love the brush that it comes with! i love it so much that i went to get another maybelline gel eye liner but this time in egg plant (purple) i thought why not... i dont have a purple one. and its not the kind of purple im in love with, its a decent product. however, as i said the reason as to why i even purchased another one was for the brush. however this time the brush that it came with is different to the original one. does anyone know why? :( because im in love with the original brush that came with the black eye liners, not purple :(

This is such a nice product. The consistency of the gel eyeliner is creamy and nice, goes smoothly and the line doesn't move. I wore this all day long yesterday and it didn't smudge at all. I was a bit worried as this means it'd be hard to remove it at night, but no problems with that, either. I like the brush it came with too. Was very happy with this product, I decided to buy the dark blue too. Highly recommend this.

I needed a cheap replacement of my MAC and BB gel liners. I'm post college so I'm poor and paying off loans. I got the gel liner in purple and I love the color. I have brown eyes and fair skin so the purple creates a softer look for my eyes compared to if I used black liner. The only problem I have with this product is the quality. I guess you pay for what you get? Even with a new pot the gel is on the dryer side and does not go on as smoothly compared to the MAC and BB ones and can go on a bit flaky.
