My salon expert recommended that I use this product infrequently, and I listened. However, when the going gets tough, it does deliver. And when the going get rough--as in when the hair shaft gets destroyed and some serious repair needs to be administered, I once again found this little bottle and got down to business.
After a Natural Instincts demi-permanent rinse on my salon highlighted and low-lighted beautiful hair pulled red and even a bit of green disaster, I was demoralized. If you've made an at-home color boo-boo to save money and a salon visit, you have to know what I mean. You end up wondering, "Why did I do this to myself?" Ugh. What else can I say? Shampooing with dish detergent and my regular conditioner left my hair cuticle a mess.
So I made an appointment with Donna the Great for tomorrow. But to get ready for her, I did a wash with the Emergencee, another wash, and a deep conditioner. Air dry. What a difference. My hair is smoother and shining. Less embarrassment. ;) *Promise to self: stop with the self-induced disasters. Go to the salon less often---but go the the salon!*

This does what it promises for my fine over-processed hair. I'm trying to grow out my permed and colored hair. I don't know how I'd ever be able to without this product.
Like other reviewers, I was initially upset at the weird straw-like feeling my hair had when I first used it. However, I find that the next day, my hair feels GREAT. I use this every other week, and I have to say that I am really excited about the results. This keeps the permed and colored ends of my hair strong and as healthy as possible as i grow my hair out.
This is not a conditioner in the sense that it makes your hair feel silky and smooth. It does, however, it does make your hair stronger which in turn and over time looks silkier and smoother... does that make sense? Either way, it works wonders for my hair and I would buy this product over and over again.

After my latest experience with this product, I feel compelled to write a review. The first time I bought this (after reading the reviews here) I had recently had a friend in beauty school burn off most of the front of my hair with bleach that was left in too long. I was looking for something to stop the breakage, and this product pulled through! As soon as I started using it my hair stopped breaking. Admittedly, it makes your hair feel a little stiff immediately after using, but the feeling goes away after the first wash. Now I'm a week away from finishing cosmetology myself, and a few weeks ago a woman undergoing chemo for lung cancer came to see me. Her hair had thinned out and broken off significantly since she started chemo, and since she wasn't sure if her doctors were OK with her having her hair colored, we settled on this treatment instead. What a difference! Her hair felt thicker and healthier after one use! She managed to find the treatment in the drugstore and has been using it once a week for several weeks now. She's down to one chemo drug now (instead of the three she was on when she started coming to me), and according to her doctors her hair should start filling in again soon. In the meantime, she told me that her hair has never felt or looked better while she was undergoing treatment (this is her third(!) battle with cancer). Awesome product! We even managed to get her brittle hair healthy enough for highlights! If breakage and brittleness is your hair-problem, this could be your HG. I am so, SO impressed with the change in her hair! Would definitely buy again, use on friends, and recommend to everyone with breakage issues. One word of caution, though-this is not a moisture treatment! Follow the salon instructions listed in these reviews, not the ones listed on the packaging in the drugstore. Shampoo hair with something gentle, towel dry, apply treatment, wrap in saran-wrap (or a shower cap) apply heat for 20 minutes, rinse, shampoo again, and follow with a moisturizing treatment. Huzzah~less breakage!

I am a WOC and I am in the process of re-growing my hair - which was mid-back level - that literally fell out (causing a few bald or near bald spots) due to a prescribed medicated shampoo that I only used twice. I can honestly say that the Nexxus Emergencee Strengthening Polymeric Reconstructor has helped my weakened and thinning hair to become stronger, healthier, more robust and to begin growing at a very good pace. IMO this product has not received the hype it deserves for it is just as good as the Aphogee Two-Step Treatment but without that horrible, malodorous, rank, toe curling smell. After using this product for the first time, I could feel the difference in my hair but since it is such a heavy-duty protein treatment I only use it once a month and prior to when I have a relaxer. Would I call this product a HG, yes, but only if you have hair that is in need of a serious protein influx then this is indeed a HG product; however, if you have healthy, robust hair, this treatment would overwhelm it and may have the opposite effect.
I have to admit that this product is kind of pricey at $18 for a 3.3-Ounce bottle but it's well worth the price since you will only use it once a month and prior to chemical service, so the bottle will last 5-6 months. I would highly recommend this protein treatment as well as all of the Nexxus line of hair care products.

After reading such good reviews at this site and Drugstore.com I had high hopes for this product. My hair is pretty fried from frequent flat ironing and coloring. I noticed no difference in my hair at all.
I bought this based on reviews for my fine blond fried hair. I honestly tried to like it, but I really didn't see any difference in the condition of my hair. I tried several times, followed the instructions, tried to leave it on longer, tried to use heat, what am I missing here? I'd seriously love to see some before and afters because it's really hard for me to believe that this goop does anything.
I bought this because of the great reviews here. My hair is really damaged, frizzy and curly. But I didn't get any results from this. It actually made my hair more flyaway than it was before. Maybe it just wasn't for my hair type.

Oh my gooodnesss!! LOVE at first use of this product!! ;) THIS is what my hair needs- not moisture, not smoothness, not de-frizzing (word?) but STRENGTH. I abuse my hair quite terribly to get it to look the way I want -blowdrying, curling iron, highlights. This is not a conditioner but like a rebonding agent for your hair! My hair has never looked so freaking awesome. It actually looks healthy again. Only thing I wish is it came in a bigger bottle!
This is a Holy Grail product for me. I have long, highlighted hair which tends to frizz and this is the only thing that saves it. I use it once a months before a deep conditioner (Regis Olive Oil Masque) and my hair always looks healthy and shiny afterwards. It's quite expensive but the bottle lasts ages with only monthly use.

Not too expensive, but not cheap either. I have black straight Asian hair, which I started perming a year ago. Noticed that the ends of my hair is becoming dry and split. Not as much damage, but I wanted to do preventative care.
Did everything the box told me to do. I even spent extra money buying the recommended shampoo and conditioner. So far, I haven't noticed any noteable changes on my hair texture. Still feels the same as before treatment. Very disappointing. I get same result using egg and olive oil. I will keep using until I finish the products.
Update: Finished the product - Did not see improved results. Decided to stop perming my hair instead. And my hair returned to its former shiny glory. Yay!
