This mask left my face feeling warm and not cool or refreshing. The mask did not break me out or improve my skin.
Long time no review! Shame! Alrighty, so today I want to rave about the Mint Julep Masque by Queen Helene. If there is one product I would swear by, it would be this one! Having a bad acne invasion? Have enlarged pores? Worry not, my friends, this product is your super hero! *swoon*
Okay, so first we'll discuss the packaging, in case anyone out there likes the reviews enough to go and hunt down this masque. So, the packaging is a plain and simple white tube with a green cap - just think of it as a huge tube of toothpaste. No box or anything, just that plain, simple tube.
The pricing for this product is great as well, it's $5 USD or under (depending where you get it from, some places will be more expensive or cheaper than others). Most of the time, you'll be able to find it in the 33% more bonus pack. You'll be able to find this product in more drugstores or Ulta, so it's pretty easy to find.
The masque contains the following ingredients: water, Kaolin, Bentonite, Glycerin, Zinc Oxide, Propylene Glycol, Sulfur Chromium Oxide Greens (CI #77288), Fragrance, Phenoyethanol, Methylparaben - That's for those of you who are wary of ingredients for whatever reason such as skin sensitivity, allergies, etc. These are as listed right on the packaging. Another point I'm happy to mention, and I'm sure a lot of you will appreciate the fact that this product has not been tested on animal, nor contains any animal ingredients. Whew!
Alright, so, if you read through the ingredients, the actual contents themselves will be a green color. It has a slightly minty scent to it, thankfully nothing overpowering. It's a very thick, almost dry kind of paste, but still good enough to evenly distribute around the face. One of the first things you will feel when you put it on is almost a burning sensation - those of you who don't like the feeling of menthol, I won't lie, this probably won't be the product for you. The only downside, boo! :(
To use this product, you just smear it all over your face and leave it on for about 15-20 minutes, depending on how much you put on. Once the mask turns a whiter color, just rinse it thoroughly, and you're done!
As for my personal opinion, I love this product! I use it once a week, to help with my pores - twice a week if I'm having a bad acne breakout. It doesn't completely make pimples disappear, but it does help to dry and reduce their size. I would recommend this product. For a product of that price and works well, why not?! The product will also last you a very long time, even with frequent use. If you have acne, this product will be very helpful in shrinking those pimples, pores and detoxify your face. Here's one product I will keep on buying over and over I just love it that much. :)
So that's my review on the masque, hope you'll find it helpful! Good luck!
What's with all of the annoying iherb reviews? Anyway, I really like this mask. It calms my skin down, helps with the oiliness and decreases the size of my pores. Is it a miracle worker? No, but I really like it. I have sensitive skin and this doesn't irritate my skin either. I use it either at night before bed or during my morning shower.
My favorite deep cleansing masque that I always recommended to family and friends.
I have oily skin and I depend on this to keep the oiliness of my face to a lower level. I put it on 2-3x a week, or esp if I have an event to attend to the next day. I spread and leave on my face for 20 mins then rinse. It leaves my face supple, matte, and feeling really clean. Has a bit of warm tingle 10 mins in. The mint scent is so nice and calming.
It gets a bit messy when applying so make sure you have an extra hand towel or wet wipes around you.
Awesome mask!!! Great smelling, goes on smooth and really gives your skin a wonderful glow afterwards. Feels awkwardly tight when it's drying, but that's okay. I try to apply this mask once a week to give my face a nice treat :)
I have mixed feelings about this mask. It's good for drying up acne spots that are sort of swollen after you've popped them. It didn't really improve the look of my large pores or anything amazing like that. It has a nice minty feel that is perfect for use in the summer. All i can say is that sometimes when I used this, it would make my eczema flare up so I discontinued use on my whole face. If you have super sensitive skin, I wouldn't recommend this as a mask, but more of a spot treatment. One of the problems I have with this though, a small one but a problem nonetheless, is that it flakes off everywhere when you sleep or talk with it on and then you have to keep reapplying and you have no clue if it was working. It didn't really control my oil too well to be honest.
Bought this product a year back online. My only main concern is the expiration date of this product.
Pros : dries fast, minty and refreshing, able to eliminate oil, draws out impurities
cons: drawing out of impurities is not as good as i expected, no expiration date / mfg date stated on tube (have to trust the expiry date given by supplier),hardens and hard to squeeze out if its finishing
I have emailed queen helene previously and they stated that expiry date is printed on tube. This isnt true as confirmed by me and others. Not sure if they have repackaged it and printed the expiry / mfg date for newer batches.
It did work for me but it's not a must- have. I liked the smell though and it really lasts a loooong time. I wasn't able to finish the tube before I threw it away (after 2 years) and I found it quite messy to put on. Guess I was not a 'mask' person anyway. Super loved the mint scent though.
I love this stuff. I use it as a mask (the intended purpose) every other week. And If I have a blemish, I use it as a spot treatment, applying a dab before I go to bed, washing it off in the morning. It really zaps those suckers. People have complained about the smell, but it doesn't bother me. And I like the tingle of the mask.
I like using this when I notice my oily skin is looking oiler than usual. It's refreshing and doesn't irritate my skin. I don't notice any poor clearing, but I enjoy the mask nonetheless. It's cheap and lasts and lasts.
