For 15 years I used the same drugstore brand mascara I swore I would never stray from. Sure I've tried out other more expensive brands once each and have always been disappointed. Then I bought this mascara as an impulse buy when I was purchasing other Mac items. I was shocked by the length it gave my lashes. They did look fake! They almost touched my eyebrows! You do really have to use a couple coats. It amplifies every single lash when you do. It's not exactly that volumizing but length is more what it's meant to accomplish. I love this mascara. It is light on the eyelashes. People really did take notice. Combined with a liquid eyeliner, you have the perfect eye makeup without all the work. I would definitely buy this again - sorry brand I've been faithful to - I found a replacement!
this is really a great mascara in many ways. it def depends on your preferences though. at first coat it's barely anything, i have to put like 3 coats. but then it looks very pretty, feathery long and separated. i like how it makes my eyes look more like i have naturally long and pretty lashes rather than like i have on obvious tons of mascara (even with all those coats). this is really great for days with no other eye makeup on or if that's your everyday look anyway. it does find every lash and bring them out beautifully, but the overall volume effect isn't major, hence, not the look, if what you want is super drama/intense eye makeup times.
it feels lightweight, soft and pliable once dry...which is great, i hate the crispy feel. it doesn't flake much but can smudge, although i rub my eyes a lot.
price is a tad expensive for mac mascara, and that's one bummer b/c the cost effectiveness is usually a great reason to go for the mac mascaras.
i would def repurchase but it is still worth experimenting elsewhere.
FYI-tried the extreme black last time and i think the formula is a little different. i live in a very rainy humid climate and i mean this smudges like mad by the end of the day, in particular on rainy days. so bad i looked like i had rings around my eyes. careful with this one if you'll be exposed to excessive humidity, sweat, rain, crying etc. and go elsewhere. its decent enough on dry days though.

Love the fact that this mascara doesn't clump or smudge and it finds and defines each and every baby lash that I have. Gives "ok" volume. However, it does lengthen my lashes like crazy! If you want a natural look with just a little bit of "oomph", buy this. It's $19 a tube, very pricey imo. I love the way the tube and brush are designed.
The best lengthening and volume boosting mascara I've come across since Diorshow and YSL faux cills. Cheaper too, so I'll stick with it! More expensive than the other MAC mascaras, but worth the cost. The brush is a great shape for getting all your lashes, and within two coats you'll have built up long and full eyelashes. Works just as well on it's own, so don't be pressured into buying the prep + prime lashes MAC might try to sell to you!
I have the shortest lashess but this makes my eyelash suuuper long! the thing i hateee is that it makes them sooo skinny, like there is no volume at all, and the lashes are like super separated. I cant use this on its own, i have to use it with something else. If you pair this with lash blash its perfect:)
Really wanted to love this product but unfortunately it's just okay.
PROS: Really black. Delivers in the length department.
CONS: Doesn't hold curl. No volume. Smudges in humidity.

I have tried just about every new mascara that MAC has, except for Haute and Naughty. My normal everyday mascara is Zoom Fast. Once False Lash came out, of course I had to try it. I wasn't a fan of it at first, but I continued to use it and it just got better and better. My only gripe, it seems to run out / dry out faster then any of MAC's other mascaras. I can't afford to buy this mascara every month at $18 a tube. But I would definitely buy it again. It seperates nicely, and adds volume. Double it up with an eyelash curler and you get beautiful looking eyes.

This is a mixed bag for me so I'm just going to list my pros and cons..
Pros:
- good formulation, doesn't flake or smudge when applied correctly
- great brush, nice and dense, no clumping when excess mascara is wiped off
- dries quite quickly and holds curl fairly well for a non waterproof mascara
- beautiful lashes is the result! Nice and long and fairly volumised
However, cons:
- quite expensive for a mid-end mascara and compared to other mac mascaras
- started to go off in less than a month of purchase
This was close to being a mascara in my rotation, but I cannot tolerate the quick expiry. I wonder if I should give it another go, maybe I will in the future, but this has scared me off for now and I feel like there are better options. More pros thans cons though so I gave it a good overall rating.

I love MAC products and decided to try a new mascara, after reading great reviews I was convinced this mascara would give me both curl and volume. I was disappointed on the volume part. It certainly does make your lashes defined and seem like they are "false" but I have thinner lashes so it failed on that part.
I love this mascara! Granted, I do have fairly long lashes, but they are very fair, and need a great black mascara to really do them justice. Let's just say this product more than does the trick. I generally apply two coats (though one will suffice if I'm in a rush to get out the door) and never have any issues with it clumping on me. It can get a little smudgy with dampness or humidity, but again, this is probably more down to my lashes; they are pretty long, and sort of curl back round and touch the skin above and below my eyes -- hence the smudges on a damp/humid day! However, this doesn't really bug me (if it did, I would simply buy a waterproof mascara -- something I'm not a big fan of), and the trade-off is that it rinses away almost completely with just plain water when I wash my 'face' off in the evening. Absolute mascara love!
