FINALLY found my daily HG sunscreen! It is so light and spreads easily which I love. It leaves my face feeling soft and fresh not sticky and white like most sunscreens. The faint sunscreen scent fades quickly and this sinks right into my skin. I found this for $8.99 on sale at Rite Aid and is better than some $40 sunscreens I have tried. PLEASE KEEP THIS PRODUCT NEUTROGENA.

I am really happy with this product.

Pros:

1) Light. Disappears right into my skin yet leaves a smooth surface making my pores look smaller.

2) Not greasy yet not drying like Shiseido.

3) Price. Very reasonable.

4) SPF 70 with a high PPD.

5) Did not burn or irritate my skin. No breakouts.

6) Easy to obtain.

Cons:

1) Fragrance.
2) Not cruelty free.

I have the SPF 55 version of this (I don't know what 70 means...I don't live in Africa!) I love the texture. It's nearly water-thin, leaves no white cast on my skin and absorbs very quickly and is so softening on the skin! When I touch my face even an hour later, it's like satin. Lovely. It makes a great base for makeup, any kind of powder or foundation would glide on really well on top of this. I will keep wearing it for awhile and see how my skin continues to react to it, but I have to say that thus far, I am very impressed and hope that this will be the future of Neutrogena's sunscreens.

UPDATE: I have been using this on my face everyday since I first discovered it a year ago and absolutely cannot life without it. I am extremely acne prone. My acne is kept under control with BP and AHA. This sunscreen has not broken me out at all. It is light, thin and watery but it is very easy to apply and rub into the skin. You do have to shake up the bottle like a white out pen each and every time. I now use a very liberal amount just to be safe and it does make me just a tad greasy initially but that can be fixed with a good blotting and then its not an issue for the rest of the day. It no longer has the slight matte effect on my skin like it used to when I first tried it. It is a fabulous, affordable and widely available sunscreen. Since using this, I haven't gotten any new sunspots or discolorations from the sun which show that the sun protection is good.

I found this at target and was so excited that there is finally a drugstore brand product that seems to be similar to japanese brand sunscreens. I've been wanting to order some like that from sasa.com but have never gotten around to it and hate that I have to order my sunscreen from online but this is great that neutrogena is making one. This stuff is amazing, it is really liquid like so it spreads amazingly and it does not feel like sunscreen at all. also, this makes a great base for my mineral make up which looks better over this than just my regular moisturizer. I think it is because this mattifies my oily skin so the minerals adhere better and doesn't separate b/c my skin doesn't get so oily. All around great deal and I have been using it everyday and not dreading it at all like i used to with other sunscreens. continued >>

HUGE PIMPLES!

i liked it a lot, it went on nicely under my makeup, but i can't believe how much it broke me out. it gave me 2 huge pimples on the side of my face and it gave me small pimples on the rest of my face... i will try it again next week, but i just can't believe how much i broke out in one day.

i'll keep it to put around my eyes since i can wear it under make up. got it cheap at walgreens, buy one get one half off and they had $2 coupon at the cosmetics counter

i'll update if it doesn't break me out next time... otherwise i'd like it.

I so wanted to love this product but it failed miserably on me. When I rubbed it in it gave me white streaks. And the next morning I woke up with three new pimples. BUT the bottle that this SS comes in is nice and its very easy to get the SS out. The smell is nice--its the normal SS smell. The price is a little high for so little amount but for SPF 70 I think its worth it. As I said before this product broke me out so I will not buy it again.

I am a fan of these Asian formulas and I was excited to try this out since it is readily available pretty much everywhere. I was using the Shiseido Anessa Perfect Smooth sunscreen, which is arguably the best Asian sunscreen out there. I'll review this first and do a quick comparison review as well.

First of all, this is a very light and comfortable sunscreen to wear. It blends easily and is a good base for makeup. There is a slight sunscreen smell and the finish is not completely matte. It does look like there is some sheen on your face so it is not fantastic for oily skin. That being said, it hasn't made me break out (Neutrogena sunscreens never do). Overall, it is the closest thing to an Asian sunscreen without the shipping hassle, so I recommend it for anyone who want a strong facial sunscreen without the heavy "sunscreen" feeling.

Here is the comparison between this and the Shiseido Anessa:

Formula: Shiseido has the upper hand here, at least for oily skin because it is more matte. Also, Shiseido has different versions for different activities/skin types. Neutrogena's is waterproof and the Perfect Smooth Anessa isn't.
Price: Neutrogena wins hands down. It's more convenient to buy too.
SPF: Neutrogena ranks higher, though there's no system in the US to measure UVA protection. (Anessa is PA +++)
Texture: Almost identical, Neutrogena's is slightly greasier. Also, after using this more, it does pill up sometimes and there is a bit of stinging. Anessa never does.
Final Verdict: Try Neutrogena's first if you have no experience with these kinds of sunscreens. If you love it and have oily skin, invest in the Perfect Smooth. Hope this helped!

UPDATE: I have tried the Anessa Perfect Essence Sunscreen (gold bottle and did a review because the Perfect Smooth is now discontinued, you can go read that if you're interested). Below is a quick comparison between the Perfect Essence and this Neutrogena one:
The Perfect Essence version of Anessa is definitely not as oil-controlling as the Perfect Smooth version, but it still feels lighter than the Neutrogena sunscreen. I have experienced no issues with it interacting with any kind of moisturizer I am using, unlike Neutrogena but I say that between the three sunscreens, Neutrogena beats out the Perfect Essence in terms of oil control and it still has a cheaper price tag! Until another drugstore brand manages to mimic the texture of Asian sunscreens, this is still your best bet in terms of a light, non-greasy sunscreen that acts as a decent makeup primer as well. continued >>

It gave me burning sensation just like any other Neutrogena sunscreen with Helioplex.

Love this sunblock! It goes on easily and comes in a bottle you can carry around in your purse. It doesn't leave white residues and not drying or too greasy for me at all.

For those who are familiar with the product, the consistency & even packaging of this sunscreen is similar to that of Anthélios XL Fluide Extreme 50+ ... before the formula was changed a couple of years ago making it whitening. The Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sunblock SPF 70 isn't at all. Though this one is watery as opposed to cream or lotion-based, doesn't sting the eyes, is not at all whitening, & does not ball up with foundation application (big points), it IS a little shiny.

A lot of reviewers feel this sunscreen is drying; however, I was cursing myself all day for not wearing a more matte foundation - and thanking myself for wearing my hair in a chignon. If I'd worn moisturizer underneath it instead of just SkinCeuticals Serum 20, the effect would have been flat-out greasy. This can be worked with using another thinner, more matte airbrush or liquid foundation, so I'm giving this a good lippie rating for its good U.S.-level active ingredients & cosmetic elegance alone. continued >>
