I bought this product cause i heard rave reviews online, I had very high hopes about this product it cost €11.99 in my local boots! I found the brush that comes with it to be very harsh on the skin. The liner itself is not creamy enough. It is very thick which means people like myself who wears false eyelashes when its applied it moves the lashes cause of the pressure you have to apply to the skin for the colour to come out. the best eyeliner i reccomend for people who wear false eyelashes would be "Maybeline gel liner" the brush that comes with that is amazing and its creamy enough to slide on to your lids and remain there for the night :)
I bought this one time, hated it, threw it away.
Recently I wanted a new liner brush and remember people raving about this one so I got it again for the brush. While I was at it, I decided to try the product again to see if I would like it.
Nope. Not at all.
The liner smudges. Simply put. It has no lasting power and I do not have oily lids. Tried it with primer, setting it, everything. No.
The brush it came with is not for me either. Perhaps because I prefer an angled brush but this one just got gunky too easily and I couldn't get a fluid line with this product or any other product I tried the brush with. Trashed both items again.
I have been using this for a couple of months now, and it really is a great gel eye liner. The colour is very good, great pigmentation. It doesn't smudge once its dry, dries fast. Lasts most of the day. I just find that when I do a winged line it starts to rub off ever so slightly at the end of the day but you can't really see that unless you look up very close. The packaging is good. The pot is solid and small to take with you, obviously you need a brush, with that being said if your planning to take an eye liner with you I'd recommend the pen ones. But, this is a great product overall, and unless your planning to stay out all day until late, you don't really need to retouch the eye liner. I don't wear make up all day but I do most of the day, and for me this works fine. One thing that's a bit of a pain in the ass is that once you've used this for a few months and you get to the bottom of the pot, the product has dried out a lot, and its very solid and hard to get on the brush ...but I just heat it up in a microwave before I use it so it's easy to work with again. I'm afraid you have to do this every second day if not everyday in the morning when you want to use it. Other than that, its a good product :)
This is the first gel eyeliner I've ever used and I'm happy! The formula is a medium thick consistency and lasts all day.

I actually prefer this gel eyeliner to mac. It has much better pigmentation, a thicker formula, and a much better price. That being said, it does tend to smudge throughout the day when I do a thick wing.
I bought this on a whim because Maybelline products were on sale at Ulta. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this. I have it in the brown color and I really like this, and will most likely buy it in black as well. The application of this is smooth, it's nicely pigmented, and it seems to have good lasting power (although I always use a primer with any eye makeup). I would also like to mention that the applicator brush that comes with it works well too, which is surprising as most brushes that come with cosmetics are of poor quality and don't work well. I would recommend this product to anyone.
I love this eyeliner! Great colors, extremely long lasting. It takes tons of makeup remover to get it off every night. Extremely high quality for the price point. The included brush was a nice surprise. I was prepared to use my own liner brush, but this one is actually useable. The little pot also lasts an extremely long time and does not dry up like other gel liners. Highly recommend.

My L.A. splash liquid liner dried up so I needed to get more eyeliner. I heard a lot of good review about this product online and through friends so I thought I would give it a try.
The liner goes on really smoothly and looks nice. My eyelids tend to get oily throughout the day but since my friends said it never rubs off when they wear it I didn't think twice.
Half way though the day while washing my hands I looked in the mirror only to realize some of the eyeliner smudged to the lower lash line and the rest of the eyeliner on my upper lid was completely gone.
This gel REALLY lasts and lives up to its waterproof reputation. Needs "PLENTY" of eye make up remover to clean. This is also an affordable product compared to Mac Fluidline and Bobbi Brown ink gel eyeliner, which does the same work. The brush that came with the product draws straight lines on the eyes but for a winged tip like the Maybelline Cat Eye ad you need a slanted tip brush. I use the ones from Sephora. This liner has staying power.
The best way to revive this product back to it's creamy state is close the lid extremely tight. REALLY FRIGGEN TIGHT. Put the pot into a small bowl (I use a ceramic rice bowl but any container will do). Boil some water. Pour the water gently into the bowl, UP UNTIL WHERE THE GLASS POT ENDS. DO NOT GO BEYOND THE LID. You do not want to submerge the whole product in boiling water. I left it for 30-60 seconds.
After, I removed it from the bowl (be careful, it's hot. The plastic lid should not be hot though) and opened the pot. The formula was extremely wet. So wet I couldn't dip my brush it. THAT IS OK. Once it cools, it firms up!!! Close the pot up and leave it for a few hours. After, use as normal.
EGGPLANT/AUBERGINE: (black lid)
First bought the eggplant in 2010. I found the pigmentation to be a little light. For opaque coverage, I had to go over the line twice. This gave off the the most intense application. GREAT for older people. I use this on my mum (53) and she loves it. Subtle and not harsh like black or brown.
Forward to 2013, I still have the exact same pot and it is still loved. Over time it became hard and I became reluctant to throw it out. So I did the hot water bath as described above.
Now with the eggplant, I only have to dip it once and I get opaque colour. In fact it is so creamy, I can use it as an eyeshadow base. No tugging, NOTHING!!!!
01 BLACK (silver lid): I purchased black at the end of 2011 in December.. Smudges on a eyelid a little if I don't set it with eyeshadow. I have Asian eyelids. However I can use this to tightline and waterline and it WILL NOT BUDGE ONE BIT. Fades a tiny bit because my eyes are really sensitive and watery but the line itself is still there! Experienced some tugging after using it for a year, so I gave it a hot water bath and now it's back to normal!
Would I buy again? Maybe. Essence Gel Eyeliner in Midnight in Paris is only $5 at Priceline in Australia... and Essence DOES NOT DRY OUT (has a souffle like texture, soooo smoothe and doesnt budge AT ALL.)
BROWN/BRUN (black lid): purchased this at the beginning of 2013. Formula is nice. Still in early days o f using this product. Great for aged eyes also. Pigmentation on mine is intense. Dries really matte though?
Great buys. Can be found cheap in Sydney. Chemistwarehouse had the brown and black one for $6 on sale. They have sales often.

EDIT: The formulation between the Maybelline with the black plastic cap and silver caps/lids ARE NOT THE SAME.
My friend has the brown (02 BROWN) one with the silver cap. It is shimmer in it. Warm coppery brown. Very nice!
My brown (BROWN/BRUN - with the black lid): A tiny bit cooler than the other brown. Absolutely no shimmer. Really matte brown!
The ones with the black lid are made in USA for me. The silver lid one is made in China.
