I can't believe I haven't written a review for this yet- I buy it over and over again and my boyfriend and I have probably gone through about 15 bottles of this stuff already. I tend to break out on my back from hair sprays and styling products getting transferred from my long hair to my back and this body wash helps clear up breakouts when used regularly. It can be a little drying to use this on my whole body during the winter, so I usually wash the rest of my body with a moisturizing body wash and then use this on my back. (I also make sure that I wash my body AFTER I rinse out my conditioner because otherwise the conditioner gets rinsed down my back and defeats the whole purpose of using this body wash.) I like the smell and formula of this body wash better than any other acne-clearing body wash, including Neutrogena's other body wash and body scrub (the orange colored ones). My boyfriend likes it too because it doesn't smell "girly" (it smells just like grapefruit, not "sweet" or "purfumey"). I definitely plan on buying this over and over again :)
I'm surprised there are so many bad reviews for this product. It has worked well for me. I suddenly started getting chest acne about 6 months ago and it has really helped to contain it. I noticed a difference when I ran out and wasn't using the product for a few weeks. I also put a little bit on an exfoliating sponge and use it on my legs for ingrown hairs. I really love the scent, too.
I had high hopes for this product in clearing my back and chest acne. Unfortunately, it did worse to my skin. After just one week of using this product I already had new pimples coming out. It's horrible. I can't even emphasize it. My skin is worse than before. I want to give this product another try but I'm to scared to take another chance. I might consider the original Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash because this one had pink grapefruit. I have sensitive skin so the fragrance might have provoked the pimples.
Neutrogena usually works fantasic for me, and I have used the pink grapefruit facewash and it worked fine, so I decided to try the body wash. BIG mistake . . I got a horrible rash shortly after using this product. Tons of tiny little bumps anywhere I had used it at showed up shortly after I started using it. I've changed out bodywashes since, but the rash has yet to still fully go away.
Yeahh i hated this product. I dont have severe acne just the few breakouts on shoulders back and chest. I bought this stuff having high hopes. It didnt just not do anything it made me breakut more. Id gotten more breakouts than ever i was so embaressed. It smells good thats the only plus. But yeah this stuff was horrible and it dried out my skin terribly. Not reccomended.
I like this product a lot. My face and back had been breaking out quite a bit lately, so I started using this a few months back and have already gone through almost a full bottle. I just actually bought another one. Now, my face is still breaking out, but my back isn't, so I'd say this product is working nicely. I'm going to try using this on my face, since most face washes don't have the 2% salicylic acid this stuff does. I'll comment back in a couple weeks and let you all know how that goes. But two days so far, and no new breakouts.
This product only smells good for like a second. My shower quickly turned from smelling like grapefruit to smelling like fast food!!! I'm not kidding, it starts to smell like stale hamburgers and french fries....it is disgusting!!! There is such an awful "after-smell" that I threw the bottle away before I could even see if it worked.
I don't know what the hell is in this body wash but in the past week I have been using it, my skin has been itching like crazy. I feel like I have developed a rash, and I do not have sensitive skin by any means.
There is something different in this version vs. the original, not sure what, but either way I have stopped using it.
I decided to try this product this I generally like the Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash/Scrub products. I love the smell of grapefruit so this seemed like a nice alternative to the sort of blah scent of the original.
I have to say I am very disappointed in this product. The first two times I used it I was struck by how great it smelled and how the scent lingered nicely. My skin seemed to be dry but I figured the product was just workings its wonders. I should add now that I have acne prone oily skin with occasional break outs on my back.
The third time I used this product my skin felt dryer and I decided maybe I should skip the body wash the next time. The very next day, I woke up with a rash around my collarbone, chest, and upper back--exactly where I use this body wash. I then noticed a large break out with dozens small pimples all over my back and upper arms as well as about three large pimples on my back. It's as ugly as it sounds.
I recommend that people try out this body wash on a patch of skin first. I should have done this before using the product but I honestly didn't expect any kind of adverse reaction since I've always done well with Neutrogena products.
Sadly, Body Clear Body Wash in Pink Grapefruit was not a winner for me. Instead of killing and preventing more acne, I've got a large rash and breakout to deal with and handful of bucks down the drain.
Love this product. I saw a difference in my back acne after 1 week of use, and after 2 weeks pretty much all of my back acne is gone. I'm so happy that I can now wear halter tops for the hot summer months. Be sure to use this every time you shower, and be thorough in cleaning the affected areas. Don't scrub though, that increases irritation. I recommend washing your back after you rinse your hair of conditioner-the oils in your conditioner can clog your pores.
