MUFE HD was the hyped foundation on mua for a while, and unfortunately I fell for the hype.
My skin is dry but not Sahara dry, more normal to dry. This sucked every bit of moisture out of my skin, making it look craggy and dull. Flaky patches I didn't even know I had appear when I wear it, and nothing will smooth them out. This also goes cakey very, very easily, even when using only half a pump for my whole face. I guess the only good thing is it has great staying power. I can easily get 16 hours wear time.
Col our wise the shades are rather lacking on the paper end. The lightest is very pink while the next one up, the one I bought is fairly dark. I can wear it in the summer when my skin is a little darker, but in the winter it's the colour of my freckles, not my skin.
I wasn't very satisfied with the stay power of this particular foundation. The color matching was excellent, however, which was why I was so upset to find that within a few hours of wear it started to get greasy feeling. I have combination/oily skin and after three or four wears it made my skin break out in acne all over my cheeks and forehead.
I really wanted to love this product, but in the end I had to swap it away with someone else. Maybe they'll have better luck than I did.
First off, I highly recommend getting properly colour matched. This doesn't just mean swiping on the foundation and saying "yeah that matches" you need to leave the store go shopping come back and say yes or no. Seriously I've had shopping days I apply one colour to one side another to the other. I go have lunch I come back I pick my shade or in other cases different brands to each side. You NEED to be picky with your foundation. If your foundation looks like crap your entire look is shot.
2nd) I am very please with this colour match 118 for me. Its very hard to colour match me I was happy to find a match long term.
3) This is my first bottle I pray it will last long term. So far so good i've had it roughly a month, I don't apply everyday but when I do I am so very happy with the look, I use my fingers two pumps and i'm good to go. So happy
As long as the bottle lasts (and it better for the price) I will keep buying it. Also I do have one warning. If you have acne prone skin like me WASH IT OFF AT NIGHT no seriously, sucker will clog your pores like no tomorrow if you don't.
I am happy with this product and will buy again.
I'm a very difficult match for foundation. I'm very fair skinned, with golden undertones. There aren't too many foundations for that combination. This line has an AMAZING range. I'm a 117. It's almost my exact skin tone.
I wanted medium coverage, but of course avoid looking cakey and overdone. This is perfect.
Application: I use a tapered foundation brush. The foundation spreads very well and evenly. It doesn't feel wet like a lot of liquid foundations do on your face for very long, which made me think I had to use more. But the foundation, even though it feels dry, is still very blendable. Make sure you have moisturized your skin!
Finish: Absolutely perfect. I only use a little powder on my forehead and chin to keep my t-zone in check. It doesn't look either dewy or overly matte.
Staying power: This foundation gives me better coverage for longer than any other foundation has before. I use Dior Nude Concealer over a couple of spots, but no big deal.
I would definitely recommend this. I don't think I'll ever use anything else. The only caveat would be if the bottle lasts me long enough. I'm afraid with the pump I won't be able to get every last drop out of there. But I do appreciate the hygenic aspect of it!
I bought this in a set and it wasn't cheap in SG. I made the mistake of getting one closest to my skin shade which #118. 117 was too light so more or less I had no choice :S it looked ok...until I ended work and when I looked at the mirror. Huge shock. My face was 3 shades darker and orangier than my neck and chest. Horrible :(
And I did realise something about the finishing powder. You MUST let this foundation dry first before u put it or else I will cakeup like hell. I will recommend using the buffer with a very LIGHT pressure. Or it will jus display yr every pore and makes it look worse before u "set" it. It is best if u use a loose powdr brush to pat it in and dust it off and then u buff it as the finishing. But I realised this has not much oil control :s
Hindnote: not sure about the ingredients in their primer but it just does not work for me. It jus irritates me :(
I'm happy that I just got mine exchanged and I got the Dior Overcurl :p
I love Make Up Forever and their products. I first started with the beginner foundation HD set at Sephora for $80. I recommend this if you ever want to try the complete set for cheaper than buying everything separately. Using this kit, I was able to see the HD foundation added to the regular shine on my face. I have oily skin, but I have to blot my face at least twice a day when I wear this foundation. Even using the HD powder afterwards, my face still gets extremely shiny.
I really wanted to like this foundation and purchased it based on MUA reviews. I have combination skin with occasional dry patches around my mouth and on my chin frm Retin-A Micro use. While I liked the texture of this foundation, I was unable to use it if I had any dryness, even if I exfoliated first. I understand that this is not marketed as a matte or oil control foundation, however, within an hour of application my face was oily. Not dewey or a with a sheen/glow, it was greasy (when set with the HD powder). This foundation settled in every fine line and emphasized my pores, which is a problem I do not typically have with foudnations.
I am MAC NC-30, and I purchased shade #123, which was a good match until it oxidized. It turned at least one shade darker and orange within one hour of application.
I did like the pump dispenser, and one pump was the exact amount needed to do my full face. As far as how it photographs, I have one picture of me wearing it, and my face looks orange and greasy. I will not be re-purchasing this foundation.
This is a light to medium buildable coverage foundation. It's really light and has a watery, very runny consistency which combined with the lightness of the coverage going on makes it a little awkward to apply in my opinion. I've not yet gotten the hang of applying the right amount. It does blend in really well, but I always end up feeling like I've used too much whether I've used a foundation brush, sponge, fingers, kabuki brush, whatever... there's a fine balance with this foundation between too little and too much and it's really too much trouble to find it. Also the runny consistency makes it a little tough to deal with.
Color-wise, i got the 178 which was an okay match and faded really well into my skin initially but oxidized a little red on me (I'm about NC50 normally) after a couple of hours. I probably should have gotten the 177 instead. I didn't really like how this came out on my skin, I didn't feel like it improved the appearance at all and I felt it looked a little greasy and red within a couple of hours but then again I didn't use powder to set it so that might help it.
I'm going to finish this at some point because it doesn't break me out and it wasn't cheap. It may take a while because it's kind of a pain figuring it out right now and I have loads of other foundations I'm working through but this one's not so bad I won't eventually get through it. I probably won't buy it again though.
MUFE HD High Def Foundation is the BOMB DIGGITY. I get so many compliments on my skin when I wear it. It gives me a wonderful airbrushed look. And a little goes a long way so it lasts forever; a huge plus because of the price. It stays put, too - my skin looks just as great at the end of the day as when I first applied it in the morning.
The ONLY problem I have with this product is that the cap will not stay on! I keep my products in a makeup bag and every time I reach for this bottle, the friggin' cap has come off. Luckily, the pump is pretty secure so it doesn't squirt all over the place inside my bag.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this foundation!!
