Now I know why Pixiwoo uses nothing but Chanel powder to set their makeup. It is such a beautiful sheer powder that sets foundation flawlessly. So little is needed and the effect lasts the day. .
EDIT: So I wore this for the first full day and I have to say this won't work for me. It's somehow chalky looking in daylight and it does look as though it is sitting on the skin. Not goo. Also this is weird but I could feel this powder on my skin like it was tight and unconfortable. Don't know if I'm reacting to one of the ingredients. As a result I have to return it.
The best loose powder I've come across so far. I only need to use a little each time so the bottle should last many months. Wonderful and silky texture. I like the feel of the powder puff - very easy to appy. Defintely buying this again.
I have dry skin and can't normally wear powders but this one is amazing. it makes me skin look fresh not cakey. It has shimmers in it but it's not noticeable when it's on your skin. I have it in Peche and am NC40ish
SKIN TYPE: Combination leaning dry, NC20
CHANEL POUDRE SHADE: Clair 020
I picked this up duty-free for around £25 making it terrific value. The pot is very large, containing 30g/1oz of product and I'm sure it's going to last for at least a year. You only need a very small amount of product to set your foundation.
My current HG foundation is Chanel Vitalumiere in 020 Clair, so finding a match in the Poudre was very simple. The colours follow Chanel's usual system of number and names. Clair is quite neutral. Many foundations and powders are too yellow on my skin and very cool, pink tones make me look ashy, so finding this match was a relief. It works well on a range of skintones, in my opinion. It's light and fine enough to suit a NC15 and perfect on my NC20 skin.
The powder itself is incredibly finely milled and applies very sheerly. For this reason I wouldn't recommend it as a light foundation: the coverage is very light indeed. However, as a setting powder over foundation, TM or even just primer, it works wonders. Chanel describes the powder as having a satin finish. They claim the same for the Vitalumiere liquid but the finishes aren't comparable. The powder is more of a velvet finish: definitely not matte, but nowhere near as glowy as Vitalumiere. Ideal for a setting powder, as it doesn't make your foundation look flat. Vitalumiere still looks radiant - the powder doesn't kill the finish.
The pot, as mentioned, is very large and solid. There is no sliding lid to cover the sieve, so it's not ideal for travelling (but is, I believe, available in a pressed version for this purpose). The puff is very usable, unlike the included applicator for many other products. I've found the best way to apply is to tilt the pot slightly, tap it once or twice to dispense a little powder, and scoop it up. Seems obvious but took me a while to get the hang of it without spilling the stuff everywhere...
Will definitely be buying again. Despite having dry skin, I haven't found this powder drying (unlike other reviewers). Perhaps this is down to using it over a dewy foundation - it might be a little too powdery on top of a matte one.
Love this powder and will probably keep using it forever, HG for sure! Use it for setting my foundation or just on my skin for the days when I don't feel like using any foundation at all, looks and feels superb on my skin.
I am very happy with this powder. I have this in 20 clair and use it to set my makeup. There is quite a bit of product in the container and it will last quite a while. I am a NC 25.
This is the only makeup product that I will ever consider repurchasing. It is light, smooth, silky, translucent. Keeps ur foundation on the whole day. JUST LOVE IT.
Besides, it comes in a big jar, and comparing the price of this product to others in grams...it is actually not that expensive. WORTH BUYING.
One word...Amazing!!! I recently purchased Vitalumiere Moisture Rich Radiance Foundation and just did a review on that and this is an awesome combination!!!!!!!!!! The texture is silky and feels like a dream on!!! I would absolutely repurchase. Hands down the best loose powder I have owned!
I received this product as a gift.
Of course I love the packaging. Of course I love the texture. The colour is a bit off on my skin, although it is the lightest shade -- but it is heavenly on application so I will make it work.
I think the jar is so big that I will use this for a long time especially because I have so many loose powders already.
This is my favorite powder I use the sponge that comes with it and it just leaves my face looking flawless. I have tried using this product with a brush but it doesn't give the flawless look. Another great product from Chanel...
