c4/c40 w/ yellow undertones and tho i would never use it as a blush...it is awesome for countouring!!! i have tons of bronzers & this is one of my faves...its a very pigmented brown and i use my 169 to contour
The color doesnít work for me so I havenít really been able to wear this, but overall, Iím giving it a 3Öcanít fault a product into a bad review because I made a mistake about color choice. I had bought Blunt with the intention of it taking the place of MACís Matte Bronze bronzer that has been an HG of mine for over a year, but I hate forking over $21 for it so Iím searching for a less expensive, more bang for the buck alternative to add color and contour.
Well, I love the fact that Blunt is matte, but the color isnít close to that of Matte Bronze. In fact, Blunt has much more of a reddish baseÖ(gosh, I almost want to say there is a little bit of a plum tone to thisÖI especially see it when swatched over an e/s base on the back of my hand). This would work for me if I wanted a sunburned look, but in my paleness, Iím trying to disguise the pink/red in my skin, not accentuate it.
Iím quite pale, nw20ish, but am pretty good at applying lightly and blending, so the dark tone and deep pigmentation of Blunt isnít the problem, itís the fact that Blunt appears reddish on my pale skin. I can see this as HG material for girls that are a different color than me. Donít let the deep color scare you off, find the right tool for you (a stippling brush or an ultra light hand with a blush brush) and blend away.
I bought this because I needed a compact contour color and Kandee Johnson used it for her cheeks. I decided to give it a try and I liked it at first...but it's just a little too on the red side for me. This also broke me out. I bought this, Mineralize Skinfinish Natural and some blushes and like clockwork I broke out within a few days of using these. I know it's because of MAC's powders because my regimen keeps my skin under control but these just made my skin break out like crazy, but now how I usually break out. I don't ever get those big, deep, painful 'activities' on my face, EVER, very rarely, but when I started using this plus my MSFN my chin, cheeks and sides of my face was a mess. I probably would have kept this if it didn't break me out, even though it's not the best color for me, I did like it, but this just gave me more of a reason to return it. I got Benefit's Hoola instead and I'm much happier with it.
MAC's blunt is a muted golden brown powder blush. I have NC43 skin tone and used this blush in two ways. One of the ways is for contouring and the second is a bronzer. It's perfect for both because of it's matte texture. When I use it for contouring, I use a bit of Nars Lovejoy at the apples of my cheeks. My only gripe with the product is I wish the consistency was as smooth a Nars.
This is the perfect color for contouring. It is a bit dark but remeber that blending is the secret.
This product is great for contouring your cheeks! It gives an illusion of high cheek bones. It's a brownish tone, not a hint of orange. It's a bit dark, but remember to just blend really well. You only need a small bit of the product. I think it also works well with different skin tones. It's darker than Benefit's Hoola, but you can get the same results.
UPDATE (05/07/2010): I noticed that my Blunt Bronzer started to harden (only after a few uses!), and even though I can still use it, I find myself using Hoola almost everyday. Hoola has a more natural tone. I also have to agree with other people saying that it is a bit red. So, I don't think I'd be repurchasing this. I'll stay with my Hoola for contouring.
I too bought this blush to use as a contour after seeing Kandee Johnson's tutorials on YouTube. I'm an NC37 so I thought for sure this would work.
In the bathroom lighting it looked okay however once I was out in natural sunlight I noticed that where I had applied it looked dirty and patchy. Not cool. I tried applying this with an angled brush, a fluffy brush, a bronzing brush, each time blending the crap out of it to make sure there were no harsh lines. Yet every time no matter how conscious I was about using a light hand or blending I got the same unflattering results. I need a product that requires minimal effort since I am a busy mom so this product is going back to MAC. I picked up a NARS Laguna bronzer today (last one in stock might I add) and had better results with that.
I am pale skinned and i adore this as a contour color, it's surprisingly not too dark at all! i use my 168 angles brush to apply under my cheeks, on my temples, under my chin and on the sides of my nose. this is perfect and a little goes a long way so this should last me a while. will repurchase!
Great contouring powder for darker skins. I'm an NC42 and it looks quite natural on me....just use a light hand.
I have medium-dark olive skin and this is the perfect countour color for me! It's Matte which is awesome because you can also use it as a bronzer, or just dab a little on with a 187 brush to give your skin a little glow. It's gorgeous and I love it! It isn't as dark as it looks in the pan and I esp. like it because it does NOT make me look orange as some blushes do!
