I've been wanting to try a BB cream for a while now, but I was turned off by the fact that so many of them had grey or pink undertones in them. I have very fair skin (NC 15 in the summer if I'm lucky) with yellow undertones and found that this is probably the best match color wise for my skin. I love that I'm getting such great sun protection from this so I won't have to worry about sunburns on my face this summer. I've found that the coverage is definitely heavier than the typical tinted moisturizer we have in the States, but I appreciate the coverage when it comes to wanting to do a quick face in the morning. The coverage is good enough that I don't need under eye concealer, which is pretty impressive! It also has helped diminish some of the redness I get around my nose/cheeks which I wasn't expecting, which is also a nice benefit. I like using a product that's multifunctional and actually seems to improved my skin from using it. If you're looking to simply your foundation routine, I'd check this out. I ordered mine from the Amazon seller Seoul Glamour and had a great experience - authentic product and quick shipping.
I received this recently by mistake when I ordered the Hot Pink one. Nonetheless it piqued my interest and I tried it and here are my thoughts on my one trial. It is more yellow than the Hot Pink one, but it is also much lighter. I would guess I am about an NC 30 and the Hot Pink one will oxidize to just about my skintone, which I then help color correct and set with a powder in my skintone (right now JI in Golden Glow), but this orange one is way too light that the darker powder doesn't even help. My other concern would be that it looked pretty bad in the afternoon, but in its defense it was pretty hot and humid with temps in the lower 90's. Hope this helps!
I did really like this product because is had amazing coverage, smelt nice, smooths out evenly, hygienic pump bottle, but sadly this only come in one shade! And I'm tan, so it made me look ghostly pale. I would really love it if it came in more shades and undertones to accustom to more skin colours. I would definitely buy again... if it came in more shades
I received this product a little over a week ago from the Amazon seller Soul Glamour. Definitely recommend the seller. I have fairly normal skin that is prone to breakouts around the chin and mouth. I purchased the pink and orange label to compare and found this one to be far superior for my skin. The pink label doesn't provide as much moisture or coverage and is a little more difficult to apply. I only need about half a pump of the BB cream to cover my entire face and the product acts as my moisturizer, foundation and sunscreen. This product doesn't make me breakout but unfortunately its about two shades too pale for my NC20 skin.
I gave up on Korean BB creams a few years ago because every single one of them had a grey cast. Japanese ones tend to be more yellow or "Ochre" but don't seem to have much staying power. My face shade is NW 20, it looks darker because it is usually flushed or red while the rest of me is NC 15. I usually wear an NC color to correct the redness in my face.
I took an interest in this BB cream because it isn't grey (has more of a yellow tint) and it has an spf of 50. It smells a little "orangey" and the pump gives excellent control of how much you want to dispense from the bottle. It is easy to blend and it dries to a semi-matte finish rather quickly. For my dry combination skin, I have to make sure I moisturize first or I'll feel a pull in my skin with just this alone. The coverage is medium to full (it can give a white cast if you pile it one) and it doesn't oxidise at all on me.
I've been wearing this for the past week because I've been lazy about doing a full makeup look and this gives me a natural, even tone that lasts for about 8hrs. Will probably repurchase but not likely anytime soon because this is a big bottle and you don't need much with each use. I still prefer the feel and application of my NARS tinted moisturizer though (but I left it in my office and keep forgetting to bring it home so I've been using the Skin79 one instead).
Bonus: I wrote to Skin79 about their stand on animal testing and got this reply "Our manufacturer in South Korea, does not test on animals, or use animal by products". Hope that's true!
NC25 Chinese, yellow undertones, old acne discolorations.
I've worked my way thru most Skin79, and I was pinning my hopes on this Hot Orange version as I had read it might be the darkest shade yet to come. End of day, all Skin79 pulls much too neutral and doesn't oxidize to the yellow beige tone I need. Everyone already knows most Asian BBs start out toned gray, which really just means neutral (doesn't pull orange or pink for example). So if you're ivory toned, I think Skin79 would work great for you. One of my fave bloggers is NC30 using Skin79, and her face color is uber pretty but doesn't match her neck.
If you're NC toned, I think you might be kidding yourself that you've got a color match to your neck. My face looks pretty and sometimes I mind game myself that I match, but when I look in the mirror enough times, I KNOW it doesn't match my yellow toned neck. Car rear view mirrors in natural light are pretty honest too btw. ;)
I'd pretty much sworn off BB cream after trying a few different brands because they either turned my face into an oil slick by mid-day or gave insufficient coverage. However, when I saw this cute orange bottle, I just had to try it.
And wow! It's just like a regular oil-free foundation in terms of coverage and oil control, but also has the advantages of a BB cream -- my large pores are blended away and amazingly, my skin actually looks brighter and less red even after I take my makeup off. It only comes in one shade, which is about right in terms of fairness for me, although the undertone is slightly yellowish (I'm about an NW 15). It does take a bit of work to blend this in, but the advantages are worth it. You also get a lot of product for your money in nice little pump dispenser that makes it easy to control the amount that comes out. I also really like that it has minimal scent and doesn't irritate or break out my sensitive, oily skin. Score!
I can't figure out how to use this. I've tried with and without moisturizer, with and without powder, etc. I've tried a little bit and layering or slathering on.... same result: oily after a few hours and clogged pores. I really want to like this and I really like the idea of BB cream, but it's just not working. It might just be too heavy for my skin.
When I talk about colours, I mean the colour of the BB cream when it's totally opaque, which means that if you use less of it, you can get away with being a couple of shades darker.
This orange one actually has a yellow undertone out of the tube, without any gray tones, but I would say it's more neutral when applied to the face it was still a little bit too pink for me). The colour is about an N10-15/NC10. The other BB creams adapt a bit to how dark your skin is, but the orange doesn't adapt - it stays he same colour.
The orange BB cream is the least moisturizing of the ones I tried and it's also more covering than the others. I don't really like this - I don't like to cover my skin up completely - I want it to look natural, which I think the other BB cream in this series manage better than this does. This can look a bit... caky and heavy. I also liked the smell of the other ones better: they are fruity, while this is more like... cucumber? The smell wouldn't really be a problem if it didn't stay on my face for long, but this smell, although not strong, has very good staying power...
Would I suggest this: if you have N10-15/NC15 skin that isn't flaky and needs about medium coverage, you will probably like this. I think normal skin is ideal for this, but very slightly oily may work, and a tiny bit dry (but not flaky) would work. I prefer to use the light pink or hot pink - my skin it a little too dry for this one, and this BB cream is too light for me. Pink undertones in the other ones isn't a problem because I correct them with a yellow colour adjuster. See review here:
I have in total tried 5 BB Creams from Skin79. I bought a package with 4 samples of BB cream from Skin79 to test out the consistency and if it suited my sensitive skin. In there was the light pink diamond one, hot pink, gold and the last was a pearl one. I really recommend finding one of these sets on Ebay to test out. I bought mine for $8 with free shipping. All of the BB creams in the set has a grey undertone, but I find that they all adapt and for some people it may be a good colour to neutralize redness with.
The light pink was the lightest one of these and has a pink undertone (NW15 in MAC, I would say). The hot pink and gold was the same colour (about NW20?), maybe half a shade darker than the first one. The pearl one was basically a tube with shimmer inside, which I wouldn't suggest buying. I myself have an olive undertone, so I mixed the BB creams with some yellow colour corrector to get the perfect colour.
This is one of the best BB creams I've used and I've used quite a few. It's really amazing. It comes in one color but works for a wide variety of skin tones. It comes out thick but feels airy on the skin. It's best for oily and combo skin. If you have dry skin check out the Skin79 Super Beblesh Gold Label. Here's a testimonial for this BB cream. I have a chemical burn on my face and this BB cream completely covers it up and you can't see the horrible red skin. I've been using it for about a month and have had no break outs. It goes on more matte than some of the other BB creams and I would say it has medium to full coverage because right now with no concealer it's covering horrible red splotches on my face. Love, love, love it and will definitely repurchase.
