The main thing I didn't like about this was the color and the sparkles in it. It does not look good on my blue eyes whatsoever. I also find that the formula (unlike bad to the bronze) is hard to spread on my eyes - it's very chunky and splotchy. I would not purchase this color again.
ETA: I used this today and it worked better for me. I still find that it looks to chunky (glitter wise) if I pack on too many layers, so I think I'll stick to only putting on one or two layers.
Can't even believe how much I love this product. I will probably end up buying every colour. Really does last all day without fading, smudging or creasing. This is really a miracle worker because my eyes usually absorb powder shadows and whenever I try a cream shadow it creases very badly.
I saw a review for these by Beauty Broadcast (emilynoel83 on YouTube.) She gave them such a good review I thought I'd try them out. I got Bold Gold at CVS for $7.99 (and then I had a $5 beauty rewards coupon, so it was only $2.99- very worth it.) Bold Gold is exactly what I've been looking for in a gold shadow- bright gold, without a bronze cast to it and not cheap looking. Good payoff, bold color, and lasting power. I tried MAC's golden crown, hoping for similar results, but even wet, I couldn't get it to show up at all. It really does wear for quite a long time, I can put the gold on before work, then go to the gym, and come home and it's still on- with no creasing- that NEVER happens, so I'm really impressed! The quality of the packaging is great, a nice heavy glass pot with a good-fitting screw-on lid. The price is good, at $7.99 for the amount you get, and with CVS's beauty rewards program, you are always building up coupons to make it even less. I will definitely buy more if they come out with some lighter neutrals. I may yet end up returning the asphalt one, but I am in love with the gold one, and if I ever hear they are discontinuing, I will buy about 5 of them so I never run out.
Oh my god I love love love this stuff!! It's such a beautiful gold color and is very metallic, so it catches and highlights your eyes in such a lovely way. it does not crease and stays on for a long time, even in chlorinated water, as tested by me recently. The color is gorgeous, a little more on the antique side but it is stunning. I love the little glass packaging that it comes in. It's like a MAC paint pot but much better and cheaper! Plus the colors are great. I would definetely recommend it- it's only $6 as well!
I like this, but it is a weird gold. Maybe antique goldish?? I think it could have been slightly prettier. And it's definitly too bold and chunky glittery for everyday. It does blend well and helps to change or enhance other colors I have. I think it will be better once I have my summer tan
.As far as wear, normal eyeshadow with a really good primer might last a few hours. I started hair spraying my lids after eyeshadow application and it started lasting 6 hours or so. I've tried other cream shadows and the would crease almost immediately. THESE however don't budge...at all. I can get 18 hours no problem before I wash off for the night. And While I might have some foundation on my lids before hand, I haven't tried them with primer.
I had no trouble finding these at my local CVS. They had all colors. Bold Gold is my SUPER FAVORITE. I would describe it as MAC Goldmine color. Its a true yellow gold, not beige, and not bronze, think gold coins. The formula looks sheer but I layered on the lids about 3 times, and it took 20 seconds to set, I kept my eye closed from blinking to much, I get creases very quickly, but Im happy to report that this stuff did not crease for about 11-12 hours. I even wore my gold necklace and gold earrings and it twinkled my eyes. Im NC40 and most golds look drap but this looks good on tan skin, like cleopatra. Thank you so much Maybelline. I love your products. I was really considering getting MAC paint pots or MUFE in gold shade over the christmas time, but I was being cheap. This I got for $6.99 a pop.
I just bought all the neutral colors: Bad to the Bronze, Tough as Taupe, Gold Bold, Too Cool and Asphalt. I love them all. I want to go back to CVS and clear these out.
I layered this on my eyes by itself (no primer) then layered the gold side of HiP metallic shadow in Ignited.....WOW!!! It was beautiful & dazzling. I am loving this so much. I wore it all day with no signs of creasing or fading. I am so impressed. It looked like real gold layered on my eyes. I also found that when layering a powder over this you must do one eye at a time because the cream sets up pretty quickly. It also isn't the easiest to blend the edges but it isn't impossible. I use Stila Kitten or any other neutral shadow all over the rest of my eyes to even out the edges.
I had already tried and liked the bronze shade and thought the gold sounded like a wearable neutral for work. I do like this shade, but it's more sparkly/glittery than I anticipated and so it's not quite work appropriate. I'll happily wear it out though. Lasting properties are excellent, no creasing and it still looks fresh 8 hours later. I'll stick with the bronze when I need to be a little more conservative.
I REALLY wanted to love these, but unfortunately, these just have way too large sparkles. I agree with all the other reviewers however, that it has amazing packaging, you get quite a good amount of product for the value, and it doesn't budge on your eyelid, or even the wrist you swatched it on. If you are more of subtle sheen kind of gal, or you're into more microscopic shine, then this cream shadow is unfortunately not for you. I also tried the Asphalt color, and it was the same deal with the large sparkles. Wish I liked it. =(
This color is really great. It's not a bright vivid gold, but more of an antique gold, which I really liked. The texture and packaging are great, very similar to the MAC paint pots. The Maybelline Color Tattoos are really easy to apply and they don't ball or cake up like some cream shadows. But the only downside, for me, is that they wear just like MAC paint pots...which means creasing on my eyes :( They're great for the first few hours--maybe three or four at the most--but then it's a mess. I think these will be great if I'm only going out for a few hours, maybe on a date or out shopping, but I couldn't wear these to class or work. 3 lippies for me, but if MAC paint pots work really well for you, I'd definitely recommend giving these a shot.
