And again I'll have to rain some honesty on some otherwise rave reviews: this product is a fad in a box. They claim that it moisturizes, plumps, smoothes and gives shine. First of all, it does not moisturize- it sits on the lips w/ out penetrating them. It definitely gives no plump whatsoever(my medicated chapstick plumps more than it does), and about the smoothes and gives shine aspect- I wouldn't know because it only held up for about half an hour anyway- then it was gone- and no, I wasn't eating or anything like that. Just an overpriced fad w/ some fancy lingo attached to it is what it is.
I was so intent on keeping this product for a lifetime.
I liked it tons more than their maximizer, as my lips actually felt soft after application.
The smell is intoxicating---just absolutely to die for!
The milky pink color goes on sheer and makes lips appear luscious.
The container is cute and chic, and the texture is not sticky.
It doesn't plump, but that is not at all what I bought it for.
Quite simply, I love rose. Everything rose.
But three ingredients down the list reads MINERAL OIL and shame on Dior for adding this. Why avoid mineral oil? Well, basically it suffocates the skin/lips, and thus, dehydrates it over time (which is why you have to keep applying lip balm to keep them supple). I have been loving Ole Henriksen for a while now and the ingredient list on theirs is absolutely astonishing, just wish I could find a rose product that didn't include something horrible in its list.
So despite my intense love for this balm, as soon as I finish it, I will not re-purchase.
Such a sad day indeed, as I loved everything about this.
Bonus too was that I could finally say I owned something from Dior! LOL
Sometimes I read the negative reviews first, but when it comes to Crème de Rose, I wish I didn't! This lip balm is so gentle and soothing, my lips are already fond of it. And the smell - I can't believe some reviewers complained about the rose smell - is barely noticeable! My lips were so dry and damaged from bad weather all week, and Crème de Rose helped me get my usual, smooth lips back - I'm so happy I purchased it.
I have tried so many balms in my day, high end, low end, middle end lol you name it, and i've either heard of it or had a romance with it.
i have a fetish for roses, not particularly the flower with the thorns, but anything that smells vaguely of its essence catches my eye. or nose, rather. this is one of my favorite rose lip balms. it glides on nicely, leaves a subtle sheen, holds some moisture, isn't overpriced, has the Dior logo, and smells heavenly. what's there not to love? this isn't a necessity, but a luxury item. so if chapped lips are your concern, go more toward Nivea, Aveeno, Mary Kay's lip mask, La Mer, and if your wallet allows you, By Terry. this is just so nice to have around. =)
I do not agree with previous reviewer. the packaging in my opinion is a normal white plastic, with a wannabe ceramic aspect. (I prefer the carton box is presented in, with the white/rose translucent logo).
The texture itself is a big disappointment. 28 € for a petrolatum based balm???? That's insane! in third position it has Mineral oil, that's exactly the same ingredient in most mass market Carmex lip balm (this one reminds me more of rose bud, maybe for the smell).
Luckely I tried it from a friend but I would never ever buy it. Disappointing because I loved the CD Glow balm. From this high end brand I would have expected something more innovative!!
ok, the trend is inspired by the 20's but I hoped the product would be more modern :-)
This stuff is great! I've been using it steadily since I got it a little over a week ago, and my lips look plump and moisturized, even between applications. The first couple of times I used it I thought it was going to be too hard and waxy, but once you get it started, it's softer than butter. It leaves a nice sheen that I swear makes my lips look bigger. Its moisturizing power doesn't just work on lips; any excess gets rubbed into my cuticles. If it weren't so expensive I might consider putting it on double duty. The smell is lovely and the container is totally chic. It's nice to have something as mundane as preventing chapped lips become this lavish ritual. When I run out, (and at the rate I'm going at it, it won't be long!) I will definitely buy it again.
There is nothing wrong with this product. It's in a chic little container, works well (although is not incredibly moisturizing, but there's no lip balm out there that is) and has a pretty tint and scent. But it's $25! If I hadn't had a gift card and it was essentially free, I would have sent it back. This at the drugstore would not be more than $3.99. The profit Dior makes on each and every one of these must be laughable.
This is a super cute little pot of salmon pink balm. I wouldn't say it's amazing but it is pretty good. It isn't gloopy and it doesn't leave a glossy finish on the lips either (which I would hate) It doesn't have a colour at all once it's on the lips . It has a delicate rose scent and when applied it's more of a satin finish. The pot itself is, well all the previous reviewers have described it enough I think :))
I am picking up an expensive habit with Dior Balms lol. I already love the Dior Lip Glow which I use every day as my balm/chapstick when I am not wearing lipgloss or lipstick. I love the amazing moisturizined yet clossy feel it gives while doubling as a pink lip tint, and the chic packaging. Anyhow considering the lip glow goes way too fast for the cost I figured I would find a good jar balm to use as a night treatment and keep the lip glow only for days. And ofcourse speak of the devil I ran across this Balm at my last visit to Sephora as I didn't even know Dior has another balm other than lip glow. Ofcourse I had to get it as I am soo in love with the old school rose scent it has, really amazing and lush. Plus absolutely love the porcelain french chic jar it comes in which is just perfecton. I have to say takes a little warming for the first use as the balm start out a little hard but really is great. I exfoliate my lips slightly with my tooth brush at night and then following with a generous layer of this pleasure to use balm my lips are moisturized and amazing in the morning. I am definitely curious to see how this works on already chapped lips. I won't be using this during the day (even though the spf in it makes it a great option for that) as I honestly jsut hate dealing with jars and messy finger application when you are out some where you know. It can be a pain and especially since this isn't a cheap super glossy petroleium type balm hence you can't get a good application with just one layer so fast and easy for day balm as I like isn't a quality of this. Definitely my fav night treatment at the moment though. Try this ! :)
Just like the other reviewers said- THE most ADORABLE little canister-SO classy!! OK, so I have been on a lip balm hunt or rampage if you will, in search of the most hydrating, penetrating, quenching, lasting moisturizing lip balm out there, regardless of $$$. I have recently purchased Korres lip butters, Fresh Sugar lip treatment, Rosebud Salve (old reliable), and a handful of d/s ones as well. This one does it for me- FINALLY! It feels so hydrating on my lips! All the others seemed to suck out the moisture and made my lips feel drier and more peel-prone than before I applied them!! This stays on, it sinks in, and it feels SO NICE. The rose smell is subtle, not overpowering or offensive at all.
UPDATE!! I finally got By Terry Baume de Rose, and OHHH BOY, that one is the best. It beats everything else I've tried. It's worth the extra $$$.
