I like this mascara. It's not as good as my fave, Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils, but it is a quarter of the price so can't complain. It is better in my opnion, after a few weeks of use, when it dries out slightly and is easier to work with. I can't keep it for that long as it does have a limited shelf life. Good product all round and while it's not perfecr, what is? Especially when it comes to mascara.

I have used the original voluminous mascara for years and loved it, now I have been using this one for a few months and I don’t know if it is the mascara or something else but all my lashes are starting to fall out and go straight, I find it is hard to get off as well, I thought I really liked it but its the only thing that I can think of that has changed.

My favorite mascara. Gives lush, dark lashes. 'Nuff said.

Bottom line: It gives voluminous lashes, but it smudges and smears like crazy!!! I had raccoon eyes within a couple of hours!! I'm giving it one lippie for volume, but that's really all it deserves.

This mascara is pretty darn good, but it has a few flaws.

1: WHY OH WHY does the carbon black not come in waterproof?! Major flaw. Because of that, it smudges, especially on my lower lashes.

2: The brush/bristles are pretty huge, so it picks up way too much mascara on the brush. This leads to little goopy clumps on my lashes that I have to comb out with a brush.

On the positive side:

1: Volumizes AND lengthens (for me). Awesome.

2: It's a daaaaaaark black. Really makes your lashes stand out. Love it.

3. The price is right. You can get it on sale easily for 5 bucks.

I just can't seem to love this mascara like everyone else seems to. I really, really wanted to, as I keep hearing all the raves in magazines and online. I have repurchased this product 3 times in the last year, and I need to quit doing that because it just doesn't work that well on me. I do have decent lashes-very long and some volume, dark, but this looks completley CLUMPY! i have tried the wiggle method in addition to just applyhing normally, but it just isn't that great. It is cheap, and the packaging is nice, but I get a much better result from other mascaras (specifially, telepscopic, lash blast, cg volume exact). I think that maybe the rubber/plastic wand trend is what I need to go with because otherwise I get clumps. What I dislike about this is that I have natural curl in my lashes which most mascaras usually amplify. This formula is soooo heavy that my lashes go from being curled to looking STRAIGHT!! It just doesn't work that well for me and I get better results from other dg mascaras. It apparantly works wlel for most, but everyone is different! I just can't find the magic with this one.

I really, really, really like this mascara!!! I would almost say I love it but I have had a love affair with L'Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara for over 20 years (it was the first mascara I ever wore/purchased and is my HG of mascaras) so I am fiercely loyal.


However, this mascara delivers all the great things that my HG mascara does - it thickens, lengthens and curls my lashes; it removes easily with little effort; and gives my lashes a beautiful black coating of mascara (i.e. drama and I just love drama from mascara). IMO the cons of the mascara is that the formula is quite wet (too wet) and takes a long time to dry (which means it smears on my eyelids if I am not careful), and it doesn't come in waterproof formula which I prefer.


This is great mascara and has become a staple in my MU collection and has become my second favorite mascara.


UPDATED on 6/24/2009: I found the waterproof version of this mascara on ebay for less than $5 including shipping. I haven't seen it in stores yet but I'll keep you posted.

I've been using this mascara for the past week or so and I really like it so far! I've been using Lancome Hypnose for the past few years and I've been really annoyed with spending $30 every couple of months. I decided to try a few drugstore brands and found that Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black to have a high end formula. I really like the thickness of the formula. First I curl my lashes. Then I prime them with Shisedo's Mascara Base. Then I use a couple of coats of Carbon Black. I really like the effect I get. If I don't use the base, this mascara won't hold the curl as effectively. That's my only complaint. Otherwise, great product!

Despite all the mixed reviews, I really love this mascara. It's actually one of my favorites. It's gives me tons of volume, and little bit of length. I mean it's clumps a little, but you'll get that with every mascara, the older it gets the more it'll clump. So I just comb through it with an eyebrow comb,if I need to. And for me it doesn't smudge or flake.

i went through a complete mascara phase and im still going through it so i thought i would give this a try. best mascara i've ever used. it gives great length and the color goes on nice as well. as for the full volume of lashes. its there but its not over the top. but if you use a few tricks you can definitely get the full lush look of lashes. it barely clumps!!! i put about four coats and my lashes are not spidery at all. would definitely buy again! update...after using this for a few weeks i realized that this does clump it doesn't give your spidery eyes or anything but the clumping is there
