After years of hearing raves about this product, and being faithful to Dior Skinflash, I decided to give this a try. It's really nothing short of... blah. At least for me. I don't use concealers under my eyes, and I count on other products as highlighters, so Touche Eclat, for me, would be entirely for concealing post-zit blemishes and occasional spots of redness. It doesn't do anything spectacular - nothing a MAC or MUFE concealer couldn't do. Not a bad product, but no rebuy for me.
Firstly, this thing almost gave me a heart attack, when, after 1 week of use, it...stopped. I thought I had run out already, and was mortified that I paid so much for 1 week's worth of concealer!!
However, after storing it cap-down for awhile, it came back to life.
This is an inferior product to Dior's Skinflash, in my opinion. Not as much coverage, and he shade I got is too pink on me.
I'd not repurchase this, unless Dior discontinues skinflash. There isn't enough coverage to be a concealer, and its effects as a highlighter are too subtle to make a difference.
The other down-side is the outrageous price.
I will buy this concealer over and over again. It is great for coverage and for providing a sheen that means your skin does not look 'cakey' or trowelled in makeup. I took the advice of a previous reviewer who was absolutely right - the secret is to apply and then let the product DRY before blending. I can't believe that I hadn't tried this before. If you apply, and blend straight away, most of it just comes right off on your hand and provides no coverage. Leaving it to dry means that dark circles and spots are covered, without looking obvious. The only downside is the fact that you have no idea when it is going to run out! One day you 'click' and nothing comes out, surely they could come up with a better design. It IS expensive, but something this good is worth the money!
I just bought this last month and i'm in love with it! This is very easy to use and very convenient. I have a serious dark circle and was looking for a concealor so I went to YSL and checked out on it.. but the sale told me that this one works even better and it's easy to use, at first i didnt believe her coz I thought that oh.. this is just a highlighter.. how could it be better, anyway i tried it on my hard and still think that the coverage is so low.. anyhow i decided to give it a try since it seems quite interesting haha. Well.. i'm so glad i made that decision coz it can really help hiding my dark circle, i think there's something that has to do with the light (that's what the BA told me). NO regreting buying this altho a bit pricy :)
nothing amazing! the lady told me to put it under my ysl laurent foundation as a concealer for acne marks, didnt do anything that great! still have it and never use it!
What exactly is this stuff supposed to do? I could never figure it out! A concealer? NO! A highlighter? I don't see the difference? So What's the point!
This is lovely but...I'm so sorry to say that Dior's version Skinflash is better! I had been "true" to this product for three years, but just switched to Dior which is absolutely magical. Try it if you like this and you'll see.
hrmmm....okay ive read the positive and negative points of this product and ive experienced them all (except for the allergic reactions to the bacteria).
the brush really does stink after a while...but i just cleanse it with MAC brush cleansing liquid.
OKAY - this doesnt work great for me under the eyes..it goes cake-y. maybe i need a better eye-prepping cream. but applying just A LITTLE of it on the inner corners of my eyes does look good. you REALLLY CANNOT USE THIS AS AN UNDEREYE CONCEALOR....it wont work very well. but what i've found is that if i apply concealor, and then apply this (LIGHTLY) under my eyes along the lashline..the effect is subtle..but i DO honestly look more awake.
I like this product to neutralise the shadows around my mouth as it does not go cakey - which is the major plus about this product.
i would purchase agian if i ran out (unless i find a better product...but that does not seem likely).
i am writing this review to remind myself to never, ever, ever buy this crap again! constantly reading, hearing about how great this is & how its the world's #1 beauty item, blah, blah, blah...and i succumb to this ...twice! and both times...it was a waste of money!!!
the first time, sa suggested #2...didnt work for me, i could still see my dark circles...and the brush tip started to smell about a month later...then horrors...it turned green...and back then, i was still a newbie about makeup...trusting all those ma (big mistake i tell you)...so my graduation photos were all crap!
2nd time, went for a makeover...ma recommended this...you hear how great it is...so i told her my problem & she told me i should be using #1 instead & told me to wash the brush regularly...followed her instructions to a t...same thing...the stench, followed by the green things growing...oh...my photos for my cousin's wedding...i so do not like looking at them...i didnt look fat for once...cos the "dear caught by headlights" look had distracted me from my body!
recently, i braved the counter...twice...and once again they tried to sell me this stuff & curse my stupid weakness...i nearly, nearly bought it again...until i demanded she put some on me (both times they choose #1 - so maybe it was the right shade after all), but i walked away from the counter cos #1 not only did not cover my dark circles, they actually illuminate them so i looked like some drug addict!
it sure was liberating to be able to tell the third ma who tried to sell me this product again..."No, thank you. I certainly do not need this & yes i do know its rated the #1 cosmetic item in the world." & walked away, head held high...even with the ms tutting at me...after all the mua chit-chats & reading of reviews...i now know better then some mas! continued >>
For a $38 tube of concealer, you wouldn't expect the brush to get coated with bacteria and mildew after only a month or two. However, I have gone through two tubes and this happened to both tubes. I wash the brushes with soap and water, but once the brush starts stinking, the smell will never go away. Two days ago, I put the Touche Eclat under my eyes, ignoring the faint smell, and two hours later, I got a horrible, itchy, violet rash under my eyes. Overnight, my undereye area swelled like mad, and I looked like I'd been punched in the face. My boyfriend was trying to persuade me to go to the doctor because I looked and felt so horrible. I have NEVER had an allergic reaction to any product before in my life! It is such a shame that a product this expensive attracts bacteria so easily. It is pretty inconvenient to have to wipe down the brush after each usage. So,although I love the concealing action of this product, I will never buy it again.
