I read that it works well as a primer so I bought it and well it does work. I can't compare as this is the only primer I've used but it really makes the e/s stay on forever!
I never had any problem with e/s staying on but I just wanted to try it anyway, so glad I did!! Not only did it stay put through a whole night out dancing and sweating, it worked wonders on my lower eye, my eyeliner didn't smudge one bit even after my teary eye started working up!! And the colors were really bright with this as a base.
What I don't like tho is that it's a bit dry, I have to kinda melt it o the back of my hand before applying it, and if you put on too much it looks yuck!
I selected NO to buy this again cos I'd like to try other primer out there.

This stuff is great. I normally wear TFSI as an eyeshadow base, but on those days when I'm lazy or in a rush I always reach for this. It's great for evening out the skin tone on my eyelids. I'll put this all over my eye and then apply mascara and I'm good to go. I wouldn't repurchase this only because I've had it for a few months and have hardly made a dent in it. Buy this!!
Since Too Faced and UDPP didn't work for me, I decided to head over to MAC for a non shimmery base. The MA suggested Painterly and since then, I've been hooked! I got this in February and have been using it everyday and a year later, I still have plenty left! The only concern I have with this product is the packaging, maybe MAC could invest in a better airtight safe package so the product doesn't dry out quickly? Otherwise, I would definitely repurchase.
I always use an eye shadow base. I find it makes whatever eye shadow I'm wearing look a lot better because I have dark eyelids. Plus, it keeps my eye shadow looking fresh and creaseless for hours. I love MAC Paints, so I decided to try this. I immediately loved the color of this in the pot. Painterly is a pale, creamy, beige that leans towards pink. It reminds me of my old favorite Untitled paint. I wouldn't wear this color on my lids without eye shadow because it would look off with my fair Mediterranean skin. That's okay though because this looks gorgeous under any eye shadow. I love it under pinks and purples. The pink tone in Painterly really makes my pink and purple eye shadows pop. It works wonderfully with neutral eye looks too. Painterly doesn't have any shimmer or frost, just a nice, matte finish. So, I would say this paint pot is very versatile and a must-have!
I never used a primer/base before this... wait, I used the loreal decrease which sucked and some sticky face concealer that sucked too. I'm actually going to get the UDPP soon but anyway, yah this is some pretty good stuff. Painterly matches my skintone really well. The reason why I got this was because I was too lazy to go to Sephora so I just went to Mac. I wanted to get a primer because I wanted my stupid eyeliner to stop smudging. Anyway, I like to wear eyeshadows now a lot and I always apply this under. Today I actually didn't wear it just to see how the eyeshadows would come out... BIG difference. This stuff really does bring out shadow colors and helps have it stay on. Love it but I'm excited to try the UDPP.

this is my favorite base and it looks amazing under any color eyeshadow exspecially browns.love it not much to say though.no creasing.
It was so drying. I don't know if it's just mine. I tried the inner part of the product too. That was a little better, but still drying. It was also too pink. That was my fault I should have tried soft orche. I just thought soft orche was too yellow for me. I'm still going to use it just to finish it up, but i'm not planning to repurchase this. I still love my Urban decay primer potion. It's just creamier and to me it brings out my eyeshadows more.
I was definitely not wow-ed by this product. I was hoping it would provide a nice long lasting 'clean slate' base for eye shadows. It did neutralize any discoloration on the eye lids nicely, but very temporarily. This did not have any lasting power on me, and made my eye shadows crease like mad. For that reason I would not buy again.
All I can say is to stay away from this product. I decided to try this thinking that it would be the same as the one in the tube "Paint-bare canvas". Oh boy, I was in for a surprise! I don't have overly oily eyes but this product lasts maybe 3 hours max on me, whereas I can wear bare canvas all day long with no problem. I think MAC takes back crappy product within 30 days of trying if you are not happy with it! They should since it costs so much money. Go back to the store and demand a refund or exchange it fot the Paint, bare canvas.
