This is one of my very first Lush purchases.I'm not a fan of the smell but since it contains mostly natural ingredients, that's understandable.I have normal to dry skin and this cleanse and gently exfoliates without drying it afterwards.I use it twice a day, mornings and evenings after I removed my makeup.I love luxurious and easier-to-use cleansing products better but I still would repurchase this one once in a while when I want to let my skin breath and get calm with a natural treat.Even though I know all about their environmental policies and concerns, I still think Lush could do better in terms of packaging so maybe then we shouldn't have to use the product up within a month.EDIT: This gave me little red pimples on my nose.I really thought this works good for something that looks like mud but I can't tolerate the irritation effect so off to 1 the lippies go. So I will NOT REPURCHASE!

Despite all the great reviews, I initially avoided this product because it was "exfoliating" and, to be honest, just sounded weird. Exfoliating products always feel too harsh on my face. I want a simple formula in a cleanser, but the ones I've tried that I liked always ended up making my skin feel drier and stripped in additon to that "clean" feeling.
Since I wasn't wowed by anyting else I'd tried, I decided to give this a whirl. And...wow. I definately did not expect to like it this much. First of all, as far as "exfoliating" goes, it feels more gentle than a wet terry washcloth. It felt lovely, and it left my skin whisper-soft. And it had a pleasant scent, which, while not necessary in a facial skin care product, was a nice bonus. The results were also impressive - my skin felt very clean, but not tight or dry or stripped. A little bit of moisturizer after and my skin has never felt so nice!
I don't have problem skin - just some large pores and blackheads around the nose. We'll see if this makes a difference there or not (nothing else has yet). But for someone who just wants a nice cleanser, this was all I could want at a reasonable price and then some.
Very impressed.
I really like this product. Its a wonderful exfoliator that is also very gentle, more so than any other exfoliator product I have tried. It also moisturizers my skin at teh same time, I never feel like after scrubbing or washing my face with this that my skin has 'dried out'. The cool paste is also soothing to irritated hot skin as well, and I love lavender. The only downside for me is that this is only supposed to be used in 3 months and expires, and its a constant challenge to not let teh remaining paste get wet or water in the container as it breeds bacteria and makes it soppy. It also is a bit expensive, but if you refrigerate the left overs and use moderately you can make your product last well over 3 months.

I like this exfoliant, it really clears all the gunk out of my pores while leaving my skin nice and smooth. I will probably purchase a full size of this after my sample runs out. My only complaint is the smell, people say you 'get use to it', but i honestly dont think i could ever get use to that smell.
I've been using this for about a week now, after hearing so many raves about it I had to try it. The first night I used it I was a little under whelmed by the results. Not disappointed by any means, but not completely wowed either. Well fast forward a few days and I LOVE this product.
I have fairly good, normal skin, no blemishes aside from the occasional hormonal pimple.
I adore using this stuff, I don't find it messy at all. I put a pea sized dollop in the middle of my left palm, wet a finger on my right hand and moisten the aforementioned dollop. It doesn't take much water at all for it to be the right consistency.
I generally dislike lavender but the scent of this is mild and adds a nice therapeutic touch to this cleanser. It makes my skin soft and lovely and clear. Just today I applied my medium coverage foundation after using it and my skin looked exactly the same with the foundation on as it had beforehand - believe me that isn't something that usually happens! I have noticed a huge reduction in the appearance of blackheads/pores on my nose - much more so than any aspirin mask/pore strips have ever done for them!

I exfoliate twice a day with this, once in morning and at night. This is the only cleanser/exfoliator that I can use without causing trouble for my dry skin - and I have tried dozens. It also can be used as a sorta-mask as well, the clay draws out impurities.
I don't mind the 'film' it leaves on skin after washing, Without it, my skin would dry out instantly before I get to my room to use BB's tonic and wipe down.
Two lips off for the cheap plastic packaging that asks for mould, thankfully I go through containers fast.. but the upkeep of a product without proper packaging is too much trouble.
This is my first review in a long time, but I couldn't wait any longer to review this wonderful product.
First of all, it's my first LUSH Product ever. Secondly, I NEVER EVER would have guessed this would clear up my sudden but persistent acne.
I'm 22 with combo skin and never had acne problems until about nine months ago. All of a sudden, as soon as I graduated from college, my skin exploded. It was some of the most painful and disgusting cystic acne I've ever seen on ANYONE and it was there every time I looked in the mirror.
I didn't have money to see a dermatologist at full price, so I resorted to finding my own solutions.
I tried everything from Neutrogena's Anti-Stress Acne line to ProActiv to Birth Control Pills to ease this situation.
Nothing worked. It got worse and worse and I woke up every single morning with about 6-8 new, deep, cystic zits.
I just began a new jo b in NYC and every day I'd come back up to 34th street out of the F-train subway station, I could smell the LUSH Store. I decided to check it out one day as I had time to kill and remembered another MUAer who had beautiful skin mentioning that she used this product. I decided to try it out.
I have been using this cleanser/exfoliator every morning and night for the past week. After the first day of trying it, for the first time in nine months, I didn't wake up with a new zit. I swear - I know it sounds like a cheesy TV (ProActiv) ad, but I am not lying. I thought it was the calm before the storm or something, but i kept at it and every day, I saw less and less pimples as the ones I had were fading and there were no new ones AND... this is the week before menstruation, which is always a really bad acne week *BONUS!*.
I love the smell, the texture, the price, everything about it, ,really. It's just perfect for me.
I will be posting comparison pictures soon, but I'm telling you, you wouldn't believe it. It's like nature's perfect combination for my skin.
Thank you, thank you, thank you LUSH, for Angels on Bare Skin.
**UPDATE** 12/30/07 - This cleanser was great, but toward the end, I tried using it in the shower and the littlest bit of moisture got in the container, causing the clay to evaporate and the texture to change completely. I tossed the rest and bought a whole new container, vowing to be totally careful, but the same thing happened. I was very upset and finally gave up on AOBS. Please keep in mind, this did NOT cure my acne 100%, just kept it at bay.
Also, I finally was able to go see a dermatologist. AOBS was not part of her prescribed regimen.
I took away one lippie for the inconvenience the packaging provided, but kept the four because when it worked, it worked. If you don't mind having to use this outside the shower, go for it.

I love this cleanser. I have oily/combo skin - this cleans without leaving my skin feeling tight and dry. It's a pretty good price seeing as it lasts me a fair while, and it doesn't break me out! Very happy with this one. Pity it doesn't get rid of my makeup but I think that is probably asking too much of it.

I wanted to like this stuff, but I only used it three times and I just couldn't do it again. My skin is combination and pretty sensitive and this stuff felt like I was rubbing rocks on my face no matter how lightly I rubbed it in. I didn't care for the smell either, like with other LUSH products I've tried, it's pretty overwhelming.
