Well first of all I gave this product 2 lippies because of the packaging its so cute. That's probably the only reason why I bought it. But I have to say its not moisturizing enough. My lips felt dry after a while wearing this. One time I got sick and got cold sores on my lips. This had never happened to me while wearing my chapstick everyday as I did with eos. Definitely going back to my chapstick. No doubt.
I wish you could be more emphatic. Would I buy this product again? YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Package: Adorable! I love this little round case. It closes firmly, holds quite a bit of product, and has little flat bits to keep it from rolling around too much.
The Product: This is my HG, go-to, everyday lip balm. It keeps my lips soft, smooth, and healthy. It smells amazing, and keeps my lips moisturized all night.
The Price: For something this good, I would pay a LOT more than the measly $2 at my local CVS. <3
with all the hype i expected these to not suck. i was wrong. how silly am i to fall for the hype? what a stupid package! ugh.
the balm itself is kind of dry, smells like bad candy and it's shaped like a ball...LOL! stupid. yuck. *trash*
This has to be the dumbest thing I own, and I own alot of dumb crap. I have bumble bee slippers, a Wonder Woman trash can, and a Pokemon card collection and this confoundingly stupid lip balm, er, "sphere" beats them all.
I bought this because of the hype, I'll admit. The Summer Fruit flavor sounded the most appealing to me, so I picked that one up. Well, it stinks. Literally. It just smells and tastes bad, like icky peaches. Yeah, the packaging is cute, but HOW is it convenient? At least compared to a small stick with a cap? I can't even fit it in my pocket! And the BALL. What happens when you get to the end? Is that it? And why does it feel like I'm rubbing one of those rubber balls from the grocery store quarter machine on my lips? Even the texture is weird. Ugh.
I gave this product a 2 instead of a 1 because yes, it's cute and pretty easy to find in a purse, and the moisturizing capabilities are mediocre but not horrible. If I were in a pinch and had to use this, I would, but there are so many other lip balms that are so much better, and cheaper, than this.
I guess I just don't get this product. It smells and tastes like overripe fruit and it just looks stupid rubbing a ball on your lips. See? Even describing it sounds gross. Meh.
I have eternally peeling lips. Personally, I dislike lip balms based on petrolatum, and the phenol smell of Carmex just turns me off. This eos balm works really nicely for me. It's colorless lip balm with packaging color-coordinated to the scent. Summer Fruit smells faintly of ripe peaches (which I like - both the faintness and the peachiness). Personally I really like the texture - it's smooth and glides on nicely, it's not hard, sticky, oily/greasy, slippery, or overly waxy. It goes on smooth, and the spherical shape allows me to apply to the area around the lips as well if I need. Also good as a primer under lipcolors. I formerly used Burt's Bee's Pomegranate lip balm, but the scent was too strong and cloying some days (and when it melts in the car, it leaks everywhere). The packaging is a screwtop, more spherical than egg-shaped, with a flat bottom and thumb-sized indentation, and has a satisfying click when fully closed; it is cute to look at, easy to find in a purse, though not practical for stowing in a pants pocket. I'm curious how easy it will be to apply when I get down to the bottom of this, though, LOL. I'd love to try the eos lip balm stick too.
UPDATE - YMMV, but this balm works beautifully for me. Applying once in the morning and once at bedtime, this lip balm completely restored my lips to normal within a week. I don't have to tote it around or reapply during the day, which is perfect for this low-fuss gal. It's become my lip balm of choice! Definitely will repurchase when I run out.
Another note - the sphere is easier for little hands - my toddler daughter prefers the Strawberry Sorbet. She can open and close this without a problem, whereas she really fumbles with traditional chapstick-type tubes (nicks the product with the lid, etc). continued >>
UPDATE 26oct2011: I just recently depotted my Honeydew one, as I found the scent rather annoying and I was just too curious to see how the ball was installed into the packaging. It turned out to be a piece of plastic holding in the end of the balm, which was melted into the plastic. It's definitely deceiving since I thought it would be like the lid part, where there is a piece of clear plastic protecting the ball-balm. I thought the packaging could be used for something else but it is difficult to clean and the part where the balm is held onto can't be taken off. Bummer. I will most definitely not repurchase these as they are nothing but gimmicks. I am now giving the packaging 1 for not being reusable and changing the overall rating from 2 to 1.
This is a fun lipbalm I bought because I was attracted by its packaging. I bought the honeydew-honeysuckle one and this one. I should've listened to all the reviewers! It feels extremely waxy on my lips and does not moisturize them at all! I tried to make it work by layering another moisturizing balm underneath (Badger's cocoa butter balm or just their regular lipbalm, they are my HG), but I just end up using only that one. I guess this is good if you normally have plump moisturized lips, but I lick my lips frequently and I like to drink a lot of water, all of which makes my lips prone to dryness. I will use this up as I don't like to waste products (I'm still a mere student), but I will most definitely not repurchase this product. I saw some reviewers using this as a cuticle balm and tried that, and to my surprise it actually did something! I have dry body skin so my hands are always in need of moisture and protection, so I massaged some of this in and found that it helped. The only other thing that I appreciate in this balm is the scent, which is rather peachy and uplifting, but other than that, I really do not care for it.
I was so delighted to see eos lip balms at my neighbourhood drug store (it's the first time I've seen them in Canada). I'd always wondered about these "balls" of balm and wanted to try one. So I got Summer Fruit and it's a pleasant enough taste and it's an okay enough lip balm but, to be honest, it's nothing amazing and the shape of the thing is actually a bit awkward compared with traditional "stick" lip balms. I can't imagine what you do when you get to the "equator"....how do you use up the rest (or does it end at the "equator"?) I don't think I'd repurchase this because it's not that special and doesn't seem to have properties that most half-decent lip treatments also have.
I have heard SUCH great things about these eos balms so I thought I'd try this Summer Fruit one out. The scent reminds me of the Dragonfruit flavor of the Vitamin Water, and that is about the only upside to this, but this product just isn't moisturizing at all. It disappears within the first hour you apply it, and the amount I've tried to apply to actually feel like it softened my lips was ridiculous! Building up the product only creates a gross waxy feel. Like others have said, the packaging is inconvenient for putting in pockets or small purses. Maybe if they were in stick form? But I think the packaging is what draws us in. For the price, I could find cheaper and much better alternatives.
If you want a lip balm that really works & moisturizes, try the Smith's Rosebud Salve. $6 at any Sephora or Ulta. And if you don't mind having a tint to your balm, then I recommend trying the Palladio tinted lip balm, sold in Sally's Beauty Supply for about $5.
If you have not tried these 2 products, then you don't know what soft lips feel like!
Moisturizes my lips well without the sticky feeling (which is what i hate the most about most lip balms). Everything about this lip balm is just so cute. The package (so cute), the smell (so natural and relaxing), and what I love the most about it is the shape. It's round so the process of putting it on is much faster. I can't stop applying it because I like how when I put it on, I feel like I'm kissing the lip balm. Haha... So cute.
I love the cute little ball the balm comes in, so cute and trendy! The balm itself is pretty soothing on a dry lip and feels great, too. Not waxy or sticky in any way. It also smells very refreshing and sweet. I will continue to buy this product.
