I really wanted to like this!! But...while it did make my makeup last longer and apply smoother, it clogged my pores terribly. I had little breakouts all over my chin and forehead after using it for a few days. No cystic acne though, which is good. I think I'll use this only for special occasions when I know I'll really need my makeup to last a long time w/ minimal touch-ups. You can't beat the price. If you're not acne prone like me then give this a try.

I used this awhile ago and actually went through an entire tube and had a backup. Little did I know that this supposed primer 'dupe' was the one causing all the visible blackheads all over my nose area! The first few months of using this I didn't notice any breakouts so I was more than pleased with it. It did smooth out my skin and gave a nice velvet feel. My skin routine and makeup at the time didn't change, it was the same before I started using this. Suddenly I started noticing blackheads everywhere on my nose! I've had my share of breakouts, but I have never seen blackhead breakout this bad ever on my face! I immediately stopped using the Monistat and went back to my regular routine of makeup without it. After excessive skin clearing battle, my blackheads finally cleared up so I decided to test the Monistat again... huge mistake! After 2 weeks my blackheads came back in full force :( This stuff clogs my nose pores so bad that covering the blackheads with makeup made it worse. If you're looking for a primer for the first time I guess test it out, but be warned not everyone is lucky enough not to break out from this. Just because it has dimethicone doesn't mean it's that IT primer. Check your moisturizers and other face products first before piling this stuff on your face. A lot of my moisturizers and creams have dimethicone and work just as well as regular primers without breaking out my skin.

If you want a silicone primer made for the face check out sasa.com first. They have tons of primers there made specifically for the face and not the bikini area. Like someone has mentioned here before, try aloe vera gel. Not only is it good at clearing up the skin (and makes a great moisturizer) it grabs foundations nicely since it's in gel form. It also helps with chafing which is what the Monistat is intended for in the bikini line area.

Heres another one of the HGs I heard about on MUA. Seriously, the girls here know it all! As a primer, I spread a pea sized (well, maybe a little more) amount all over my face and rub it in with my fingers. Even without applying anything else on I can see how it immediately makes my face look smoother. It fills in my pores, makes my makeup glide on and stay longer. I have also tried Smashbox Photo finish primer and honestly, except for the price I dont see much difference between the two. Infact, I like this better than Smashbox because this gives me a smoother look. So this baby is here to stay in my mu routine for a long long while.I dont think I can manage without this now. This didnt break me out or clog at all *knocks on wood*

Who is the genius that first decided to use this product as a primer? I would like to hug them! I particularly like this as a lid primer. I have very sensitive eyes, and there was absolutely no stinging or reaction, and my liner and shadow go on like a dream. I regularly use primer and have tried all forms of Smashbox, DHC Velvet Skin Coat, and Merle Norman. This one is every bit as good as Smashbox, which has been my favorite, and at a smidgen of the price. What's not to like?

would i buy this product again? why isn't 'hell no' an option?!

well after swearing up and down that i would not use a product for areas other than its intended purpose, curiosity got the best of me, and i just had to try this out. i mean why would i pay $20-$30 for a high end primer when i can get something like it for a fraction of that?! and especially with so much hype surrounding this particular product? even my sister who doesn't know the first thing about makeup knows that Oprah uses this (something i didn't know myself). so hey if Oprah uses it, it must be great. well i went to walmart and purchased this for a little under $6. the next day, i applied a pea sized amount to my face before applying my foundation. well you know the saying "don't fix it if it ain't broken?!" similarily, i shouldn't have let this product near my face, because my routine was working just fine. about 3 hours into wearing it, i took it off. thank goodness i did because if i didn't, i'm sure the big painful cystic pimples i got on each side of my face, in addition to the small rash i have on the left side of my face near my mouth and the rash that i have on my right eyelid that appeared the next day would've been more severe. at the end of the 3 hours, my face was one disgusting oil slick. this did nothing to minimize my pores; if anything, it helped clog them. oh and i guess it doesn't help that i start my makeup related job tomorrow. oh joy.

After reading about this on MUA, I had to try it. It works great - better in fact than many primers I have tried and paid much more money for. I do think perhaps Philosophy brand filled in my large nose pores a little bit better but, hey, for this price I can use the Philosophy on the nose and Monistat for the rest - and without guilt for using it all over my face !!!! Thx so much!

If it were not for MUA, I would have NEVER thought of putting a Monistat product on my face! It amazes me that people think of these things, but this one definitely works! If you have not yet tried a primer, let me tell you, it makes a HUGE difference in how your makeup looks and how long it lasts. Monistat Anti-Chafing Powder Gel gives me the best results of any primer by far. You apply a small amount of the gel to moisturized skin, and as you apply it, it dries into a soft, smooth finish that perfects your skin. It smooths out fine lines and visible pores...it's just amazing. The smooth finish it gives your skin helps your foundation just glide on and look soft and airbrushed, and makeup will last all day and night without reapplying. I believe results vary on oil control, but for me, being only slightly oily during the summer months, it does keep me from getting shiny. I never need a powder touchup when I use this product as a primer. You really only need a small amount of product, and a little bit will smooth over your whole face. I have been using the same tube for about 9 months, and I still have about 1/3 of a tube left. Compared to other primers, the price is very reasonable. I hear this can be hard to find, because lots of women have caught on to the fact that it makes an outstanding primer. However, I am always able to find it in CVS and Walgreens. Give this a shot, and don't be squeamish! This stuff is not to treat yeast infections, it's just a skin protectant. And it is marvelous.

This is by far the best primer I've ever used in my entire life! Monistat is the only product that has made my gigantic pores almost disappear and helped my makeup go on so smoothly and last longer. The first couple times I used this, I broke out really badly. I got those big, red, cystic zits that was so painful and mortifying that I almost threw this away. It took a while for my skin to recover and after some time, I decided to try it again. Mostly because I didn't want to waste my money (hey it's still $7.99) and nothing else was working for me. I'm so glad I gave it a chance because I never broke out horribly again. I think the key is to cleanse your skin properly every night. I always use a cleansing oil first, making sure to massage it into my skin for at least 1 minute and then follow with my cleanser which I also massage for 1 min. And make sure to use a mask 1 or 2 times a week. My skin was still oily even with this on but my makeup still looked good and my face did not get dark like it usually does.

The things you learn on Makeup Alley!

This is an excellent primer, it makes both concealer and foundation apply more smoothly. It's affordable and IMHO as good as the Smashbox primer which I've also tried at a much more affordable price.

It's very useful and also helpful for it's intended use (to prevent chafing.on the thighs or elsewhere.) Recommended

I'm new to the world of primers. I've read a lot on the subject but I'm not convinced it's necessary given the cost. However, when I went to the Laura Mercier counter to purchase tinted moisturizer, I ended buying their primer. I like the cream-like consistency of LM primer but it made my face a bit oily by mid-day.. I then tried a sample of Smashbox light. My face felt less oily but my tinted moisturizer didn't seem to apply as easily. I was thinking of eliminating primers altogether when I read all of the reviews about Monistat. I bought a tube and tried it with both the LM primer and Smashbox primer. My tinted moisturizer applied easily and my face didn't feel oily with the Monistat. Seems like the best of both worlds...
