This is, hands down, my favorite drugstore foundation. I have combination skin that gets oily in the summer. This foundation covers everything (blemishes, etc) perfectly and looks very natural after I buff it on (I even use the brush that is attached to it sometimes). The variety in color is wide and I am able to find a perfect match for summer and winter.
The price (around $12 at Walgreens) is great- especially for all the product there is. The packaging is just ok. I would like it better without the brush and wish that the opening (where you put your brush to gather product) was a bit more wide because you can't fit bigger brushes in it.
I did find that I had to blot midday but I didn't find this to be a problem because I have to blot several times with other foundations.
The formula is light and even if I layer it for more coverage, it doesn't feel or look cakey.
I have gone through 5 or 6 containers of this foundation and will continue to purchase it as it is a necessity for me.
I tried this foundation last year I want to say. This was, if I can remember correctly, shimmery, it didn't last long at all, and it seemed to make me more oiler. Go figure a powder foundation that makes you more shiny! I definitely did not like this foundation, it had no lasting power. The coverage I believe was sheer, which is not for me.
This is my first try at mineral foundation and I'm pleasntly supprised. My skin is very dry so I wanted to try something a little gentler on my skin and have always wanted to try out a mineral foundation but didnt want to shell out the almost 30 dollars that one pot of bare minerals costs. So I gave this a shot and I'm sold on minerals now. It went on evenly, had great coverage, and was long lasting, as it stayed on the whole day at school without me having to touch it up. The only reason I didn't give it five lippies is that I'm not a fan of the packaging because it is a little hard to get out of the container, and it is the only mineral foundation I've ever tried so I really don't know the quality compared to other mineral foundations.
I like this makeup, but of course everything has it's pros and cons.
-buildable coverage, you can go "barely there" or build it right up to hide every little imperfection
-good coverage, it actually hides dark circles and acne scars
-breathable, doesn't clog my pores or cause breakouts
-the brush is annoying, but that's pretty minor - just use a separate kabuki brush and you're set.
-the powder can escape very easily out of the sifter, so it's best to keep this product stored upright.
I will buy this again.
I have acne/acne scars, dark circles around my eyes, and some redness from the acne irritation. This makeup covers ALL of those flaws without making my skin problems worse. It's very gentle. This has got to be the best drugstore mineral makeup. I have not used anything else that works as well as this foundation. At least not since I had Bare Minerals back in 2006, and I bet the coverage and wearability is right on par with the pricey Bare Essentials brand. Just one small nit picky problem: The packaging is a little annoying because I don't like to use the brush it comes with (See pictures? I find it hard to hold onto) and the powder sifter could really use an interlocking lid instead of just opened slits that let all of the powder out. When I travel with this makeup, I have to tape over the sifter so none of the powder escapes. And as for the brush, I just bought a simple powder/mineral brush that has an actual handle I can hold, and a flat top so it holds more powder for better application. Breathable, full coverage, affordable, product lasts forever. Usually it lasts about 8 months before I have to replace it. Super great makeup.
this foundation is AMAZING!!! when i first started wearing foundation 5 years ago, nothing really worked for me. i would change foundations every couples months or weeks, i was always looking for the next foundation to try. but then i bought this stuff, and I've been using this and ONLY this for the past 3 and 1/2 years :) it goes on super easy, it doesn't run or transfer, it lasts all day and even longer! plus one single container of it will literally last 3 years!!! i used mine every single day and that's how long mine lasted. i just bought a new container of it 6 months ago, so i'll be good for another 3 yrs or so! the only problem with it is that if you have acne, it doesn't complete cover it. it'll make it look a whole lot less red and stuff, but you'll have to take the time to gently layer on it on if you want it to be completely covered. :)
I've been using this on & off for at least 3 years now. I always seem to come back to it when I just wanna wear powder & no liquid. I actually really love this foundation because it the amount of coverage it gives it amazing. It covers better than high end mineral foundations & I was blown away by that considering the scaring on my face requires a lot of coverage. I'm only giving it a 3 because it can stick to dry spots and look cakey. I also noticed in all photos where I am wearing this I look like a ghost. I can't see to find a really good color match either. I end up using the shade that's a tad too light and I have to darken it up with a small amount of another powder. If you find a good shade in this it's completely worth it. I've never broken out from it and the coverage like I said is great. continued >>
This one was okay. It gave decent coverage but had a tendency to cling to dry spots and other imperfections unattractively. It got everywhere every time I used it. I tried Bare Minerals and liked that a bit better but even then, it's just not the type of finish I want. I find it hard to make these mineral powders look very natural. Also, the cap over the brush would just not stay on. I ended up giving this one to my mom after using it for a month or two. If you like a matte finish and have skin that's less on the dry side, you might have better luck with this.
Ok, so I have always been a liquid foundation person and finally decided after not being able to find anything that wouldn't break me out to switch to a powder. This stuff is pricey for drugstore makeup, but I wouldn't change for anything! At first it was hard to use and seemed to make my skin oily, but it really improved my skin overall in a matter of a couple of weeks. I have now purchased this product for the third time and LOVE it still. It doesn't cover as well as foundation (hey, it's a powder, give it a break) but trust me, once you see your skin improving, you will not want to cover up so much! The biggest compliment I can give this product is that it lasts... Most makeup I run out in a month or less. This stuff I can buy and it will last me at least 2 months and I wear it EVERYDAY. Seriously, love it. Only complaint would be it gets everywhere, I have powder all over my makeup area and usually get loose powder on my clothes, but it's worth it to me!
You know what I hate?! When people review products and they've only used it for a couple of days or weeks. All these people rave about stuff only to change their opinion later. GIVE IT TIME, PEOPLE. I have used this mineral foundation for 8 months straight and I feel I have given it enough time to accurately review it, so here it goes... I was in love the minute I tried this foundation. My skin looked amazing and I was sure this was it for me (see, it's always good to give it time, ladies...) PROS-This mineral foundation is not too expensive and it will last forever. You don't need to apply that much and the coverage is good. It makes your skin look luminous and glowy. You can apply it in a few minutes and be out the door. CONS- It can be messy. It has ingredients that are hard on your skin. It will clog your pores. And when I say clog, I mean the kind that clay masks, pore strips, hot rags and extractor tools can't touch. So your skin will look beautiful until your pores get clogged and you have small bumps and blackheads all over your face. This foundation was OK for the winter months, but now that it's hot outside, I am going to need something different. Lesson here-If it's too good to be true, it probably is.
