The Instyler has changed my life! I have auburn hair that is a mix of waves and curls, and frizzes easily in the summer. I had seen this infomerical and decided to buy it at Bed, Bath and Beyond and use my 20% off coupon. What a dream product. It makes my hair smooth and bouncy, not stick straight but with lots of shine and body. I have been using this for a month and I feel like a new woman. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair, and I never used to get compliments unless I had just been to the hairdresser. It's a bit clunky to use at first but I quickly got used to it. I do notice it works best if my hair is completely dry, if my hair is still damp then it leaves some frizz. But I just cannot live without my Instyler now, it has been so life changing for me I had to recommend it!

At first, I was hesitant of buying this due to the price tag. I'm glad I took a chance and purchased it. I had mine at local Bed Bath and Beyond store with a mailed 20% off coupon, also expecting the easy return just in case. I have a fine, frizzy, puffy hair which I find it extremely hard to manage and style. No chemical processing would last more than one month except for Japanese thermal processing. My hair was a real pain all the time and styling with tools was frustrating and time consuming even with layers of hair products.
This makes my hair straight with some volumes and flips leaving shiny and silky. I also like the fact that it is quite easy to use - like brushing my hair. You just run this thing on larger sections of your hair than you nornally would with a flatiron thus tremendously (in my case) saving the styling time. If you are going for a stick stright look, you might need an additional styling with a flatiron though. The only complaint I have is there was no explicit manufacture's warranty information written anywhere. Just customer service contact number.
In short, this is best suited for taming unruly hair and achieving natural bouncy straight style fast but not for the curls (hard to do) and real straight style.
I had been wanting this for quite some time, but the price and mixed reviews had me wary. Fortunately, I received it for a birthday present, and instantly wished that I had taken the plunge and bought it when it first came on the market. This product is amazing! It made my hair look exactly as if I had just come from the salon. You are able to create a variety of looks with minimal effort and even do it one-handed! I have always had trouble styling my hair and would pay dearly for salon blow-outs for special occasions. Now I can have the look everyday!

I too was in awe watching the commercial, I will not leave my house with out doing my hair, have actually been late for work on more than one occasion when the hair was doing quit right. So, I ran down to Walmart, they seem to carry most of the "as seen on TV" products and plunked down $100 for this thing. Got the thing home watched the DVD and then Rewashed my hair because I had Product in it , the DVD said to start with clean hair, "no product". Remember I had left the house :) I experimented with this thing, at first had a little trouble as to witch side the barrel needed to be on. Mind you this thing gets VERY hot omg! I went to give the ole bangs a little curl, and holy mother of God. Now I have bumped my fore head with a curling iron before on more than 1 occasion. Anyone that uses a curling iron on a regular basis has. But this thing has the heat intenstity of the SUN!!
After that I am EXTREMELY careful around that area. I pull up the the hair i want to curl and lightly spray it with a Thermal protection syling spray and then curl or straighten. Otherwise my hair falls flat and will not hold a curl.

So my husband bought me the Pink InStyler from Ulta after I whined about it for around 2 months. I have extremely damaged, coarse curly hair thanks to over bleaching and I usually have to blow dry my hair IMMEDIATELY after washing to avoid knotting and ripping out my hair. The instyler is a GREAT alternative to blow drying, but NOT as a flat iron. I can see where a lot of people were disappointed. The instyler does not deliver the results a flat iron does...there is no sexy sleek look. Instead, I got a full, fluffy "just blow dryed" straight look which I actually prefer, so I love it. The only downgrade to this thing I can think of is that I have to use my left hand to use it, because in my right, the barrel rotates UP instead of down. :(

I use a sedu revolution flat iron and a t3 dryer. I am used to good products. This was a downgrade.
It was bought for me as a birthday gift. I was excited because I thought it would be an easy way to add some curl to the ends of my hair. It did... after I held it there for 30 seconds. I have a lot of hair and not that kind of time. The fact that you can't use heat protectant because it will clog the brushes freaks me out, especially after watching the steam pour out of my DRY CLEAN hair. Wtf is that? My straightener doesn't do that. My hair was already straightened from the day before and after running this through my hair it was frizzy. IT UN-STRAIGHTENED MY HAIR! lol. I will try this tomorrow after I wash it and just blow dry it and see what happens but I feel like it is frying my hair and it makes it very frizzy. The curl at the end is nice. Not worth the 30 seconds it takes to make it that way though. So I will probably be returning it.
Oh and I burnt my forehead doing my bangs. Stupid thing.
I bought this product after watching an infomercial and becoming convinced that it was the coolest product out there. I got it at an As Seen On TV store and paid just under $100 for it. I personally find it awkward and heavy to use and definitely prefer my straightener, it has been sitting under my counter since I bought it
Like everyone else, I was dubious about this product. But I figured I'd purchase it someplace where it could be easily returned, and hope for the best. This ended up being Walgreens, as the Target I went to didn't have the product in stock. I read the directions and watched the DVD that came with it. My hair, which is fried from a lot of coloring and naturally wavy, was a mess from sleeping on it when it was still damp from showering. I was fully prepared to have to throw it into a bun, but surprise! - it actually came out looking bouncy, sleek, and NOT fried. Yes, it's bulky. Yes, it gets hot. But it works quite well, and I think it does a better job than my flat iron. I like the fact that I don't have to use a pile of styling products...my hair doesn't feel "coated" anymore. It just looks happier and more natural, whereas my flat iron gives me a flatter look (duh!) and it doesn't have the lift that I get from this product. It takes about 15 minutes to do my whole head of thick, unruly hair. I have no idea if the tool will continue to work well, but so far, I'm very happy. I'll try to remember to update if anything changes.

My coworker told me about this hair straightner, and how it had transformed her hair when she borrowed her sister's for a wedding. She went on and on about how wonderful it was. I checked the reviews online and found that probably 90% of them were favorable. Like anything else on the market, not every product is going to work the same on every person. Everybody's hair is different so not everybody is gonna love this item. However, I still thought based on the reviews, the odds were in my favor.
I did read that it burnt some people's hair, that it was really noisy and that it had a weird smell. I was also daunted by the price. I went on E-bay and located a lady who is licenced with the company gets these straight from the manufacturer. They have a very slight cosmetic defect so she is able to sell them at an extremely inexpensive rate: 2 for $100 with free shipping. My coworker and I went in together and got them. It only took 2 business days to receive them!
I tried it out and omg it works like I couldn't have possibly imagined! I have really, really long hair that is highlighted and layered. I normally use a large barrel curling iron and a flat iron to get the blah waves out of my hair. But I could never acheive the volume I wanted. So when I used the Instyler it glided though my hair and made it look REALLY shiny and omg...VOLUME!!!!! How the heck it does this, I have no idea. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
Oh and it has a mechanism that makes the barrel spin when you close the iron to smooth your hair, so it does make a noise but it so low, you can barely notice it. I had read reviews where people complained that it was really loud. I wonder if they got a defective unit? And there was no smell. Makes me wonder where these other people got their Instyler?
So yes, I love this iron-brush, thingie. Volume, shine and as the ladies below said, it really does make your hair look like you had it blown out at the hair dresser. Yay! :) :) :)

I agree 100% percent with the review below me. It's a fantastic styler. I have fine, but thick, highlighted/colored blond curls. This is so easy to use - it's like brushing your hair. It cuts down tremendously on my styling time, leaves my hair bouncy, so shiny and smooth. I use it to curl the ends a bit too. My routine is so simple now and takes maybe a total of 20 minutes - where it used to take almost an hour. I do a rough blowdry, then smooth small sections with this. It takes me just 10 minutes or so with the Instyle. I get SO MANY COMPLIMENTS. Seriously, since I've started using this, I get compliments on my hair all the time. I wore it straight often before I bought this and thought it looked good, but now it's so shiny and people have really noticed. I highly recommend. I purchased at Target for $99. You can't beat that - it's less than the price on the infomercial. My hair looks like I got an expensive blow out, not flattened down by a flat iron. LOVE THIS.
