I think I may have found my HG shampoo for my oily hair! I've been a big Lushie for years, but I was always skeptical of the shampoo bars. They're so small, so I didn't think they'd last long, I was afraid they'd strip my color, and they just seemed...a little too different than regular shampoo. But I took the plunge and bought this one and I don't think I'm ever looking back!
Jumping Juniper is a pretty purple shampoo bar, which is about the size of a hockey puck. It smells great -- a nice, light, herbal, floral scent. The scent really is light; I barely notice the smell when I'm using it and it doesn't cling to your hair afterwards, so if you don't like the scent I would still say to try it out.
Lush says to wet your hair, wet the bar, and swipe it 3 times through your hair before lathering and rinsing. I have long hair, so I swipe it through about 6 times to get a really good, foamy lather. It rinses clean without leaving any residue or heaviness behind. My hair actually squeaks when I rinse this out; I don't think any other shampoo has ever made my hair so clean!
Since using this, my fine, oily hair has been much, much less greasy. I find that using this as a daily shampoo works better than only using it a few times a week. When I use this regularly, it controls my oil for 1-2 days, which is better than any other shampoo I've tried. It tangles my hair a bit, so I still apply conditioner to the ends to detangle every time I shower. This hasn't stripped the color of my bleached hair, which is also very important. Once dry, this leaves my hair shiny, bouncy, and not at all greasy. I will definitely repurchase after I try out some other shampoo bars from Lush!
I typically have very oily hair by the end of the day, and I wash it daily. That's just how my hair is. I hate it and I thought I would just have to deal with it until I found this little gem. It really helps reduce the oils in my hair. I can go every other day without washing it while using this. I was using Rehab by LUSH before this but I find that this works with my hairs chemistry much better. My hair feels much healthier since I don't have to wash it as often. It also adds shine, which is a major plus since my hair used to be dyed bright red every other week and is severely damaged 3/4ths of the way down. I love the smell, it's like a light lemony herbal scent that isn't too overpowering. I will be repurchasing it when I run out.
I FINALLY found a LUSH shampoo bar that doesn't strip my color! As for the oil control, I do believe it works to an extent. I didn't really think that it did until one day I used one of my other shampoos and I was a grease factory by the end of the day. The smell is deliciously herbal. I've had my current bar for about 6 weeks now and I have about a third of it left, even though it helps with the oil I still wash my hair every day or day and a half. I am loving this and will definitely repurchase!!!
I love this :) other people have said it doesn't really stop your hair getting oily, but it does for me. My hair isn't VERY greasy but I did have to wash it every day before I started using this, and now I can happily only wash it every other day :)
It smells lovely, but sadly the smell doesn't really last once your hair dries. It lathers and cleans well and my hair actually seems to be in better condition since I've started using this, as there are no harsh chemicals. One bar also lasts absolutely ages, and it's much more environmentally friendly than most shampoos, which is never a bad thing.
I would recommend it, but it seems like it only works if you have a particular hair type. my sister has seriously thick, dry hair and she hates using this because she ends up looking like she's got an afro!
This shampoo bar did not work for me at all. I have very oily hair, which I have to wash every day. This shampoo bar is formulated for oily hair, so I thought it would make my hair less oily. However, my hair gets oilier faster when I use this. Plus, it gives me dandruff and a very itchy scalp! Therefore, I only use it on the weekends...
- Nice scent
- Takes less time to wash hair
- Lasts a long time (had mine for almost 5 months, and it will probably last another 2 months).
- Doesn't leave hair feeling clean
- Hair is oilier
- Itchy scalp
I have quite oily hair and have heard that this shampoo is supposed to help so i decided to try it. It smells great but does not translate through to my hair. I have always needed to wash my hair every day because it is so oily and I find I still do. While my hair does feel clean after using the shampoo bar, it becomes oily in the same amount of time it usually takes my hair while using any other shampoo. I might end up repurchasing it though because I enjoy the smell and the concept behind a shampoo bar. However, I'm not quite convinced it is actually helping my hair at all.
Had high hopes for this shampoo since it was recommended on some website as Best for Oily Scalp No2 - I'm forever on a quest to find a shampoo to combat my oil scalp which gets greasy day after washing it.
First time I used this shampoo I really thought my greasy scalp was banished (how stupid!) my scalp felt very clean and my hair was in lovely condition (but this is normal when I use a new shampoo for the 1st time)
But sadly my hair was oily day after washing, maybe not as much so, but have used it a few times now and its doesnt make my hair any less oily.
The quest continues.....
I absolutely love this shampoo. I have quite an oily scalp and I used to wash my hair every other day, and by the time came to wash it again, I felt it was still greasy by then. However, I didn't want to wash it every day (I tried it and felt my hair was even oilier). I was desperate to find something that worked. I'm so glad I found this product! It makes my hair oil-free, light and voluminous. It's a bit pricey, but it lasts for ages so I think it's worth it. I feel like my whole hair has changed since I started using this product - and for the better.
I have not personally have not used this product, so I feel awkward writing a review for it. However, I have seen the results on my friend and I actually cannot believe it.
I purchased this solid shampoo for her for christmas, as she had been complaining about her oily scalp. She had given up hope and started washing her hair with supermarket shampoo and not using conditioner, and it still got oily every single day. I was in Lush purchasing gifts for some of my family members that I know like Lush, saw this and thought it would be perfect for her. I purchased it, and now both she and I can't believe the results. She can now go two days without washing her hair, it is nice, clean, soft and shiny for two days without her needing to wash it. I couldn't stop sniffing her present as I thought it smelled fabulous, and she seems to like the smell too. It isn't too overpowering and seems to fade reasonably quickly, but that isn't too bad if you are after something inoffensive.
I use Lush Squeaky Green, and so can comment on the ease of use of the bars - easy as pie. I at first was sceptical of these as I assumed it would be a kin to washing your hair with soap, but I think so long as you get the right bar for your hair type, they work really well. All I can say is that this bar seems to be perfect for people with greasy hair who want to be able to go a few more days without washing.
I had really high hopes for this product -- I have fine, permed, long hair that gets so greasy after one day that I must wash it every other day otherwise it starts looking super dirty. I first noticed this product when it was the #1 choice to get rid of greasy hair from an online list that was posted. Purchased it and tried it out. The smell is great, slight lemony, lavender scent to me. With a bit of water, the bar produces a lot of suds and does a great job of cleaning - squeaky clean - almost TOO clean. It created a whole mess of tangles in my hair that normally doesn't occur when I use other shampoos. I haven't had so many tangles since I was a kid. I've had to add so much conditioner in order to detangle the whole mess. After drying, my hair does look great, but it didn't have the effect that I was looking for. My hair got just as greasy as any other shampoo. I still had to wash my hair every other day. This bar reminded me of Neutrogena's anti-residue shampoo in that it cleans very well, but nothing for preventing the oily-ness. As the other reviewers have mentioned, the bar of soap must be kept in a water-tight container, otherwise it'll melt away. It does seem like it'll last for a while, but the fact that it doesn't do as it claims makes me not want to repurchase!
