Awful. Extremely cakey, I had very dry skin and this just emphasized. I also seemed to notice that this caked around my blemished and made them stand out even more, even with primer it appeared to melt off my face.
The product goes on smoothly and provides perfect coverage for my skin. I literally just dabbed my finger on it and that was enough for half my face. I dont have many imperfections to cover- I just used it to even my skin tone and it worked like a charm. If you want full coverage- I would recommend you heck Cover Fx. The only reason I gave the product a 2/5 is that it made my skin break out- and it takes A LOT for me to break out- as in I can't remember when was the last time I had a pimple before I started using the product. It's a shame because I loved the texture and blended perfect with my olive skin.
After hearing all the brilliant feedback Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse received, I decided to go out and buy it. The first time I tried it, I was disappointed. It highlighted all the dry parts on my skin and sunk into any fine lines or wrinkles I had. The next time I tried it, I moisturised and primed before and it made a huge difference. This time around, I adored it. It made my skin look dewy and fresh with a perfect finish. I wouldn't recommend applying this with a brush as it leaves very obvious brush strokes. The best way to apply this is with the fingers as the heat of your skin makes the product melt ever so slightly so it's much easier to blend. The coverage is not heavy but it is very buildable so it's easy to get the look you want. Many people have said this is a very heavy product which can tend to look cakey - the only way this product can look cakey is if you use too much. Really, a little can go a long way so be very careful. Overall, a very good product. :)

It made my skin look like crap. Made my oily areas look more oily and my dried out areas drier. Not sure how that's possible but yeah. And it broke me out. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone with combo acne prone skin, or anyone really. It's really unsanitary too so careful when you apply it..I did it as sanitary as possible and it just didn't work.

The packaging isn't the greatest, not really sanitary, but I wanted to try something new. At first, I loved the coverage, but it wore off pretty quick. After a couple of days of using it, I broke out bad from it... and I usually don't break out. I stopped using it and I stopped breaking out. It's too thick, it smells bad, and it breaks you out. I will not be purchasing this product again.

This product is GREAT for those with combination oily skin. It has a dry matte finish. Applies very smoothly to this skin. The only con I have with this foundation is that it has a lot of fall out during application. The texture of this foundation breaks apart very easily into little pieces during application. Apart from this, its AMAZING. I use Dark 3 - Cocoa.
This can be using without a setting powder. I would not advise anyone with DRY skin to use this.

i have used this mousse for years it is my go to foundation. i love its air brushed look, but i dont think u can just put ur finger in the lil pot u need a good brush. i use a very soft, short, rounded kabuki type brush and just swirl it around and buff onto my face to get a good look. the only think i dont like is that it doesnt last very long, i have to dab every couple hours, even with primer. but i do have oily skin. i have yet to use a better foundation though
This was the first foundation I properly started wearing, as I have acne prone skin and the last thing I wanted to do was irritate my skin further, but I found out this was non-comedogenic so thought I might give it a go. The colour came on a lot lighter than I expected so I did look a bit washed out, but that could be fixed with bronzer, so I thought it was really good to begin with as it gave me a decent amount of coverage but still felt light. The problems came after that, where it dried out areas of my skin so I had horrible flaking all round my face. It also caused perioral dermatitis, which has left me battling with my skin for a few months now. Just don't buy this product at all.
I purchased two shades of colors in this product, both were not true to color. The mousse was much lighter then it was when applied. I'm pretty disappointed because this product was non-refundable. This product discourages me from purchasing drugstore foundations. The texture is OK, almost drying. I would NOT recommend this to others. I would probably start purchasing drugstore products from places that allow returned opened beauty products.

Let me preface this to say that I have used some very expensive foundation in the past - MAC for several years, Estee Lauder for a couple more, Clinique for a short time, even tried Dior. Oh, and of course Bare Essentuals. The issue is that I have VERY VERY oily skin. Everything just slides right off by noon, regardless of equally expensive primers by MAC, NARS, etc. It's disgusting, and very hard to fix properly without washing everything off and starting from scratch - which you will appreciate simply isn't possible halfway through your workday.
Also, I have rosacea so I do need something with some coverage and even MAC's studio fix powder isn't enough for me without caking myself up.
I simply always assumed that I couldn't use a drugstore brand foundation. But I got fed up one day and walked into Shoppers Drug Mart and asked what their best foundation for oily skin was. Now, the cosmetician didn't actually point me in Maybelline's direction, rather she sold me some Bourjois Matte Mousse Foundation, which, after I fell in love with it, they of course discontinued after 6 months. I discovered that only when I ran out and had to buy more. Oh, goodie.
I panicked a bit. Then I noticed that the packaging for Maybelline was remarkably similar. It was also a matte mousse foundation. And it was... $13. Are you kidding me? I can take a gamble on this, I thought.
Whaddya know. Works better than all the crazy stupid expensive department store foundations I've been using for the past 10 years. I do use a mattefying moisturizer as a primer, but this lasts really well. I get some issues on the bridge of my nose but they're easy to fix. I'm so happy that I found this foundation, and I couldn't be happier with the price!
