I had been told there is no way to get my black hair to a shade of brown without red tones coming thru...well I found something that worked without any reds! I used UltraLight Natural Brown color and it really gave me this subtle brown overall color for my black hair without any redness. Of course the color on the box didn't match my hair at all...but I didn't expect it to.

I don't understand this colour. It doesn't come close to the colour on the box. As a matter of fact it appears to have an orange hue to it. I used to use light brown for the longest time and thought this might cut the red a little but hell no. It also felt drier than usual. I don't use ash browns to avoid a green hue.Not impressed with this.

This is the worst haircolor I have ever used!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am shocked because I love the other products by them. I have dark brown hair and bought the light ash brown. I followed the directions to a "T" and my roots turned out rusty orange! the rest of my hair had a reddish, orange tint (so unnatural). When i tried to put a level two over it to cover this mess I ended up with wine colored hair even though I used an ash color! What a disaster!!!!!! DON'T BUY!

I can't say I hated it. It just didn't work for me.
But it didn't dry out my hair beyond repair as it did with some other reviewers.
It seemed to bring my red highlights out more, which I found odd, and counterproductive.

After I bought this I freaked out because of the bad reviews here..And I have been saving my recently grown in virgin hair for something special. In otherwords..I would die if I screwed up. Turns out..It don't look so bad if I do say so myself..
My dark chestnut, almost black hair was turned into a lovely shade of light brown with sort of golden highlights. The results are visible..but not drastic. It brightened up my look just a tad..and I dont hate it. The highlights could have been more blonde..but golden is fine for me because it goes well when I wear purple..(and I look really good in purple). I think this works best if you have dark virgin hair.

I really was impressed by this product. I have med. brown hair and have been using loreal color experte highlighting system for many applications and noticed all my results always turned red, especially with lighter colors. I've always wanted a cool, non-brassy blonde-brown and that is exactly what I got with this product. I used the lightest shade. It would probably look even better to add some highlights on top of this wonderful base. I've found my new fave!

I used this today in the Ultra Light Natural Brown Color. I was a bit confused on the technique that I should use. My hair is short in back and longer on the top and front. But, I tried to follow the instructions and left it on the lengths for 20 minuts and then put it on the roots and shorter areas for 10 minutes.

My hair was already tinted from previous dye jobs from a couple months ago and was a brassy, medium brown. I put the color on in stages for a total of 30 minutes.

The results? Well, it slightly lightened my hair. And, I mean slightly. Like 1/2 a shade. And, more close to the hairline. The rest of my hair looks the same color. My hair doesn't feel too damaged because of the process. Probably, because it is so short. The conditioner that was included is nice though. And, I don't have any brass.

I guess that I would buy this product again because it didn't appear to damage my hair.

I've been using semi-perm color for about a year now, so I went into this knowing it might not work on me because of the color deposited on my hair. I used the ultra light beige brown shade and was planning on doing highlights with it. I did a strand test by selected about a 1 inch section of hair (attached to my head) and left in the dye for 30 minutes. It really does stink! It's a chemical smell covered up by cheap perfume. After 30 minutes, I rinsed, dried, and looked at the result. I can't actually see much of a change (not even at the root where I didn't have much previous dye). It is possibly a tiny bit lighter, and thankfully, it looks red than it did before. It does not feel very damaged.

This product turned my hair brassy-orange and left it more damaged than any hair color I've ever tried. Oh how I wish I'd read these reviews before I'd done this to my hair!

I used XL51 the "natural" shade (as opposed to the golden or ash shades also available.)

This product is VERY tricky to use and the directions must be followed to the letter. Otherwise you will be disappointed at best, or have a hair emergency at worst. This is not for people who like to slap the dye on, wait, then rinse and go.

The product will NOT cover grey. It lifts colour, and doesn't deposit it. The product WILL turn hair orange if left on too long! It also recommends not to use it if you have already coloured your hair with dark brown or black dye. You could get discolouration, or...no results at all.

I have dark brown hair, which has had many semi's put in it (specifically colorSpa)...I waited 3 months to make sure all the colour was gone.

You put the dye on the strands of your hair for 20 minutes, then work it up to the root portion and wait 10 more minutes.

My hair turned a very nice warm-medium brown that glimmers. It looks very different dependcing on what lighting i see it in. My hair has TONNES of red in it naturally, but did not turn orange or brassy.

It lightened it a shade or two: subtle, which is exactly what I was looking for.

I give it 4 lippies: i can't give it 5 since it is a tricky product to use. Overall, I'm happy with the results and would use this again. It did not damage my hair.
