I have only used Sephora and MAC brushes in the past. And as all beauty junkies know, MAC has really good makeup brushes.
But this set was enticing as itís good for travel and even if you donít travel, itís all in one. It has all the essential brushes.
The brushes I use are the eyeliner one, the eyeshadow brush, and the blush brush. The quality is good but some of them doesnít hold as nicely and stiffly as the MAC brushes to blend and swipe. The design is cool and not tacky. I would definitely use them all.
This is a good price for the set.
I read the E.L.F. brush reviews over and over before purchasing this set. I don't know why I was so surprised by how good these are after the great reviews, but I am really impressed! I thought these would be a decent place holder set until I was able to build a collection of higher end brushes, but really these do a beautiful job of applying and blending. They are almost as soft as my EDM and Ecotools brushes, but less dense, which makes blending easier IMO. The only down side: My flat top brush has a loose ferrule, and I am not really sure what to use the fan brush for.
Overall, a definite recommend.
I really don't understand why people willingly shell out $100 on a set of sigma brushes or on mac brushes when these exist.
These are $30 on the E.L.F. website but wait for a 50% sale, they're always having 50% sales. I got mine for $15...11 brushes...$15...and they're fantastic.
They are so incredibly soft. I even had my boyfriend feel the tops of one of the brushes and he was impressed with how soft it was too. Also I haven't had any problems with shedding.
I've only had this set for about a week and I haven't used all the brushes so I can't comment on longevity for all of these but I have purchased studio line brushes before (about a year ago) and I'm still using them with no problems.
It comes in a nice travel pouch which is great for keeping your brushes in good condition when traveling. It's also roomy enough for other brushes as well. I keep several other brushes in the pouch along with my eyelash curler. :P Inside the pouch there is also a tiny little booklet that tells you what each brush is used for.
Of course there will be bad batches of brushes occasionally, that happens with high end brushes as well as I've heard people complain that their sigma brushes broke within a month or sheds a lot. It'll happen...but think about it this way...even if you have 2 brushes out of this set break or shed, you're still getting SO much more for your money than shelling out for MAC brushes or something. That being said, I've used about 4 of the 11 brushes in this set and I've had no problems with any of them.
Seriously, save the money you would've spent on $20 brushes and spend that on a good foundation or a nice perfume or something. This set is an amazing deal.
Ok, first I have to say I got this brush set at a steal of a bargain. I purchased it when they had a fifty percent off all brushes and omg did I do the right thing. First, let's talk packaging....they come in a nice zip up bag that's convenient for travel...hell...I even put one of my small shadow pallets ....the slots inside the bag are stretchy so I put all of the eye brushes into two separate slots and each face brush in their own slot...leaving three spaces open for me to add a couple of my favorite face brushes as well...so the packaging isn't only great but also versatile. Now on to the brushes...they're phenomenal. Sooooo soft....so versatile....I of course had to get the limited edition shimmery set which are soooooo adorable...yet professional. The eyeshadow c brush on this set has a bit of an angle to it which I think is nice...the original one I purchased separate is even all around...so that ones good for packing on the shadow and the shimmery one s good for an explosive smokey eye. Regular price is 30.00 but I paid 15.00 plus shipping....not bad for a complete brush set that can compare to even the most expensive sets. Get these brushes....NOW.
I really love ELF brushes, the regular line and the studio line. The flat top brush (sometimes called Complexion, Sometimes called Powder) is my HG brush for applying foundation (liquid/powder or mineral) I loved my studio brushes so much that I got this set for my mom, too.
The only downside I can see to this set is that it doesn't contain a good fluffy blending brush for eyeshadow. They include three teeny tiny brushes and I think they should replace one of the teensy ones for a fluffy blending brush. THe way I dealt with this was to buy the fluffy brush from their regular brush line. For $1 more, it's worth it!
Overall, I really love ELF's brushes. I own high and low end brushes and would never fork out the big bucks for a MAC foundation brush. For eye brushes, MAC does have good ones but I think if you're on a budget but still want brushes that will work well, the ELF ones are a great option!
I admit I do not have any expensive brushes, so it's hard to compare the quality. But for my purposes these are excellent. This set is all you need to begin your make up adventure. For sure I will buy many more of these, like the contour brush for example, on the other hand one smudge brush is absolutely sufficient for me. And I love the case, it's really elegant and handy when travelling.
I am SO SO SO SO happy with this brush set. I cannot get over how soft the brushes are. In general I have been very pleased with any E.L.F. purchases I made. I just discovered them recently and am amazed at how they can produce decent quality stuff and price them so affordable. E.L.F. is a winner in my book.
I bought two sets cause I loved my first one so much! HOWEVER E.L.F. has a problem with their packaging. My second order of this set came with two smudge brushes instead of one smudge and one angle brush. Just beware that you may not always get what you thought you ordered with E.L.F. >:( Other than that Studio brushes are my HG! I just wish they sold them in stores where i live so i don't have to pay for expensive shipping (for my area) These elf brushes also don't shed like my MAC and Lancome ones (which i would expect better from!)
I'm a huge fan of ELF's studio brushes! My mom got me the limited edition 11 piece glitter set as a gift, and I must say I am very pleased. The brushes were individually wrapped (to keep the bristles from bending) in nice little plastic covers that are fragile, but can be reused. I always wash and condition new brushes to help get rid of lose hairs and to soften then up, so shedding as not been an issue for me. I must say, I enjoy them over my MAC and Sonia Kashuk brushes. Bristles are soft, gorgeous and strong handles, and they're obviously more affordable!
However, I had to take off one lippie...
My mom bought me the entire set so I could have the powder brush, which was sold out individually. As luck would have it, my set was missing the powder brush, and had an extra complexion brush in it's place. As I said, the brushes are great, but my mom and I were obviously expecting to receive the brushes listed on the site. I will make an update when I hear back from ELF customer service.
I have the limited edition one so the handles of the brushes are sparkly and overall this product was great! I bought this at winners for $24.99 and for 11 brushes, I think it's worth it. Some brushes are like $40 EACH...pretty packaging!!
