I was surprised by the low ratings on this primer, not that it's a remarkable primer, it's average. I didn't find that TFSI or UDPP or even e.l.f.'s dollar primer was any worse or any better. It's just a primer that keeps my eyeshadow on apparently for more than 24 hours because I fell asleep with my make up (don't tell anyone). It does even out the color of my lids ever so slightly but I don't have any real discoloration so if you want something that's going to do that as well as keep your shadow in place, this isn't it. I have dry skin but my eyelids are normal, not oily or dry. This is an in between primer for me. e.l.f. primer has quite a bit of dimethicone it it that some people describe as oily, TFSI is a bit drying, as are MAC paint pots. UDPP, on me, is no different than this on me. If you're a fan of SB try it, if you're on the prowl for a new primer, there are so many out there and this works as well as most for me. It's just another lid primer but I would buy it again, it serves its purpose which is to keep my shadow from fading away. What a mediocre review, huh? It's a lid primer. The End

This came as part of Smashbox's Eye Wish Palette. I have uneven discoloration on my eyelids - and only after two layers did this come close to doing anything about that. I did notice that my eyeshadow creases less with this product, but it doesn't do enough in my book for me to go out and by this product on its own.

This lid primer sucks. My eyeshadow creases almost immediately after I put it on. The only thing this primer is good for is giving a hint of color to even out your skin tone on your lids. This primer is a complete waste in my book.

I have a love/hate relationship with this. As i love that it has a color to it and it's not transparent like UDDP or TFSI. It does hide the veining i have on my lids. I don't know if it was the sample i got in the day/date gift set but it is a bit dry. It's kind of hard to blend on to your eyelid. Although it grabs your eye shadows like crazy. After about 7 or 8 hours i tend to see a bit of creasing ... I have extremely oil lids ... for reference UDDP creases in about 2 hours on me :( . I tend to use my NARS smudge proof base and then to hide veining i use my PP in soft ochre. That combo seems to work the best for my oily lids.

the primer was very dry and not spreadable or blendable at all. had the consistancy of a badly dried-up concealer. packaging made it hard to get the product. once the product was on the eyes it did not help my eyeshadow at all. the shadow didnt last longer, it creased even worse than without primer, and the colors didnt look as vibrant or true. best to save your money on this one.

I got this in a gift set from Sephora.. and I don't like it. I haven't liked it from the beginning, but I can't find my TFSI so I keep using this. Its very drying to the skin, and dries quickly which makes blending it out very difficult. The color is also an issue because if I miss a spot it dries very noticeably.

I wouldn't repurchase the full size.

I received a sample size of this product from Sephora. I have oily skin and eye lids, and I found this product worked very well for me. I rarely use frosted shadows, so I can't comment on the other reviewers who said it cut down on the brightness of those types of shadows. I can say that if you are using a matte shadow, it makes a very lovely canvas to work from. The colour is a very universal shade and seems to work well with my fair/medium skin shade. There did not seem to be much product in the sample, and I found that before I knew it I was out of product. I purchased the full size today and I hope the product does not dry out in the container before I can use it up. If so, I'll update and certainly remove a lippie or two, but for now I am very happy with the product.

After reading many reviews below, I am very surprised. I enjoyed using this product! The flaws that many see are understandable, however I see that as an application issue for the most part.
Yes, it is a drying product. It dries very quickly, so you must blend shortly after application so that it doesn't dry on top of your lid and become hard to blend in.
There is also the issue of orangey residue that is left behind. Again, an application problem. If you are seeitng orange discolouration, you have either used too much or not blended in enough. You only need three or four dabs on each eye (blended in correctly, of course) to achieve lasting effects.

When I initially used this, I was amazed! My daily palette these days is the Kat Von D Ludwig set from Sephora (I apply them with a wet brush). The colours would fade a tiny bit by the end of the day, but with the primer, my colours stayed true until I washed them off my face. Exactly what I was looking for. I also use it before I put on concealer under my eyes, and it works beautifully.
I hope my review helped :)

I bought this because I heard good things about Smashbox's face primers and I love their HD foundation so I thought why not? At first I HATED it. I didn't see the difference with it on and without it on. In fact, my eyeshadows stayed better without it on than when I had it on. Then I went to Shoppers Drug Mart and told the SA about how much I hated it when casually mentioning how disappointed I was that they had almost every brand I needed but Urban Decay. She was shocked that I hated this lid primer and asked me if I was using enough. It turns out I didn't put enough on. I thought only a thin layer was necessary but she told me that I had to do at least 2 or 3 dabs of the product on each eye to achieve the desired results. I still didn't believe her but when I got home a few days later I decided to try it out again since the product was just sitting there collecting dust and I didn't wanna open my new UDPP yet. I was surprised cause she was completely right. My shadow and liner did not budge one bit. One thing I still don't like about this primer is that the texture of it causes me to have to put more of my eyeshadow on for some reason. It seems the colour doesn't stick as well on application. But once I've done applying the amount desired, it seems that it stays on for all day. I wouldn't buy this again cause i've got my UDPP waiting to be opened and used and I heard it's the best. Then I might try TFSI after that. This is a good product but not the best for sure.

I got a sample size of this from Sephora's 500 points reward deal, and this is not good. It does make your eyelid dry and it mattifies the color of your eyeshadow, so it downplays the color integrity. If your eyeshadow is anything but Matte texture, it will downplay the color by taking away the glitter, shimmer etc ..it'll be dull. The eyeshadow then would just look dead. Bad product, TAKES AWAY EYESHADOW'S VIBRANCY!
