OMG!!! I love this cleanser and moisturizer!!! I was having some dry, flaky skin issues on my face for quite some time. I went to the dermatologist expecting to be told that I would need some costly treatment or prescription. I was a little ambivalent when the dr. recommended Cerave Cleanser and Moisturizer. I thought there was no way that an OTC product was going to help since I had already tried so many. I used the samples that the dr had given me and I was more-than-pleasantly surprised. Within a week, my skin was completely transformed! I have since started using it on my entire body. My previously red, dry and flaky elbows are now smooth and my previously beyond-dry legs are silky smooth! I've also bought it for my teenage son who has had both eczema and sebhorreic dermititis. I won't go so far as to claim that it got rid of these conditions, but it definitely helped to moisturize his skin and made a very noticeable improvement.

I only use this after a peel, wax or when I don't need to wash away makeup. The cleanser is very, very gentle, but doesn't take off makeup well at all. I'm not mad I bought it but would hesitate before buying another full-size bottle. Truly love the AM PM moisturizers but those reviews are elsewhere.

I think I read a blogger who recommended this a while ago as an alternative to Cetaphil, which never worked as well for me as it did for other people. I really like the Cerave - it’s gentle but cleansing and strikes the balance of not being either stripping or too greasy. I use it when washing my face at the sink, and something a bit thicker in the shower (Eucerin redness relief cleanser in the winter and Neutrogena redness soothing cleanser in the summer).

I have been using CereVe Hydrating Cleanser for over a year now. Initially I did not like it because I am use to harsh cleansers but after a while it grew on me. It was very gentle and was able to clean any makeup off (except mascara) while not drying out my skin. I recently became aware of some of the ingredients put in skincare products with that being said my only complaint is that it contains some of those ingredients (Parabens and DMDM Hydantoin). Due to this I have stopped using this and am in a search for a gentle cleanser that does not contain these ingredients. Sad day :(

I had been using the whole CeraVe line for about two months when I started to notice a stinging, followed by a red rash/bumps around my eyes, whenever I washed my face. At first, I thought it was my sunblock washing off my forehead and into my eyes when I washed my face. However, I later realized it was the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and, I believe, the CeraVe PM. Both have Behentrimonium Methosulfate, which, as you can see, is a Sulfate. I am guessing this is the culprit but I really don't know. I have used other products with Niacinamide so I doubt that's it and I do not believe the Hydrating has Niacinamide---plus, it is really strange, but the Hydrating Cleanser stings around my nose and the PM Lotion makes me tear up but the Foaming Cleanser doesn't seem to cause any reactions. Again, this all began WEEKS into use. Which I have heard and read is common---it takes a while for your skin or body to become sensitized to an irritant sometimes and after that it's all bad.

I have to say I would be really sad to part with this because it really is gentle (although it does not remove makeup or sunscreen effectively at all) and made a difference in my skin as far as balancing my dry but acne prone skin---the whole line did really---but I don't know that I could continue to use it knowing something in here is so awful for me that it is causing my eyes to get red, water, and erupt in streaks of rashy skin. My skin is sensitive but I had no idea it was THIS sensitive. This stuff is supposed to be better than Cetaphil for godsakes. But, anyways, if this works for you, great. I really do think it is an awesome cost-effective line, but it doesn't agree with me. And if you notice eye irritation when using CeraVe products please try abstaining for a while and see if that makes a difference. Took me a long time to figure it out.

Pretty pricey, even for the amount you get. My biggest problem with this is it feels like rubbing cerave lotion all over your face then rinsing it down the drain. At least cerave foaming gives cleansing power for me, the hydrating left my skin drier than the foaming, idk why? i got a few more clogs than usual too, i'll stick with cerave foaming and olay sensitive

I use this occasionally as a morning cleanser with a damp washcloth. It's gentle and unfragranced, so if my skin is feeling a little irritated from treatments, this allows me to lightly cleanse the oil build-up from overnight without further irritating my face. I find it does not remove makeup effectively, so I don't use it in the evening.

Update 2/28/13: I am almost done using this as my morning cleanser. Being ADD, I ready to try their CeraVe Foaming next and if it's too drying, then probably I'll switch back to this one. Sort of boring cleanser, but perhaps it does the job.


I used to use Cetaphil as my in between cleanser as I would keep switching over the years. But never truly loyal, just a good "in between".


Because I double cleanse my makeup off in the shower every night, I wake up makeup free and only need something gentle in the AZ dry climate. I'm enjoying the CeraVe Hydrating, probably b/c I'm a sucker for any large marketing words like "ceramides" and "hyaluronic acid" as moisture retaining agents.


For Costco members, I see the bottles for ~$10 behind the pharmacy counter.

I used Cetaphil for years and thought it was time for a change. Cerave is much better at cleaning and removing makeup. It's also very hydrating and non drying. I really like this cleanser. Don't think I will be going back to Cetaphil!

I started using this along with the moisturizer because I wanted to find a more gentle cleanser for my acne-prone skin. I always use a makeup removing cleanser before my actual cleanser, so I never expected this stuff to remove makeup. I really love the way it feels on my skin, and like that it leaves your face feeling neutral once you’ve rinsed it off – not tight and dry and not overly greasy with residue, just nice soft skin. Unfortunately with my rebellious face, it was not ‘enough’ for me at night so I’ve started using this in the morning in the shower on my face, chest and back. If my skin ever clears up completely, I may try to use this again at night.
