I wore this on my wedding day. It lasted from 11 am when I applied it, to midnight when I passsssssssssed OUT. BAM out cold. It lasted through kisses and tears and smiles. Oh yeah and talking. Yes that. Fantastic stuff!! I applied the balm that it comes with once and the whole day my lips were moisturized. Yay.
I got the color in peach and let me tell you, you don't need to put this in your purse if you're going out. The color will last that long! Rather, it will look weird if you keep layering it on. I want to try out more colors!
The only bad thing I can think of is that your lips will tend to get a bit dry and you might have to reapply the balm over again.
SuperStay is one of the best longlasting lipcolors on the market. It doesn't last as long as some of the others out there, but it has a lot of advantages over the others.
1) A light sweep will result in a sheer lip, or you can layer up the product for thicker coverage
2) It feels light on your lips, not cakey
3) Though when the product initially drys down, it might feel a bit drying to your lips, a swipe of the gloss stick makes the feeling go away. Plus, as it wears off it doesn't feel drying
4) Doesn't peel or dry my lips
5) I like that the gloss stick and color are in one package. When they come in two seperate containers, I tend to lose one.
6) I rarely reapply the gloss, but my lips still feel moisturized.
1) Color selection is a bit limited. My favorite is Heather
2) Doesn't last a full 16 hours. I average 5-6 hours.
This is my favorite lippie for the workday, since I can apply once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and it looks good the rest of the day.
As far as long-lasting lipcolors go, of those I've tried this one is the lesser of all evils. I bought "wine", which is actually more of a bright red than the burgundy I was expecting, but it looks surprisingly good with my very fair/cool skin tone. It lasted for about 4 hours before starting to peel, and I did eat a very messy meal during that time! It's better than some other I've tried because it doesn't feel as dry on the lips, but it is still drier than regular lipstick. One piece of advice I can offer for application is to wipe some of the product off the sponge with a tissue and sort of color in your lips as quickly as possible-this wastes some product but prevents as much bleeding into the lipline. if you really need a long-lasting product for a wedding or something, this is the one I'd recommend, but I won't buy any more for everyday wear.
I have concluded that these so called super-long lasting lip products just aren't for me, they are too tricky to apply, inevitably lead to peeling, dry lips and come in limited colors.
I guess everyone's lips are different. every person is unique... because this product did no good for me. 16 hours? yikes, I think it stayed on for 1-2 hours the most (and this was WITHOUT eating or drinking) before the color started eroding away, leaving my lips looking as if they only had a lipliner in red around them. it came off SO easily for me, 90%+ of it comes off with just some rubbing. disappointed. only positive aspects of it were that it wasn't too drying and the clear lip balm on the other end.
I've been told by many to purchase Cherry, because it's a true red. well despite my hesitations as the colour on the packaging looks browny bronze and the tester does too, I purchase it.
It's not red at all and looks like the bronzey packaging colour. *sigh*
this is the best stain I've ever tried. UNFORTUNATLEY there is no red colours! I've tried wine (much to plumy) and flame, came off as berry purpleish pink. the packaging makes them look red, but they are far from it.
I found it very disappointing that I had finally found a stain that was comfortable, but not in the classic red shade, which is the only shade I wear.
After reading all of the positive reviews, I went out and bought it. Wow, was everyone right! Unfortunately, my first color choice was "Strawberry", which is a bit too vibrant for my pale skin tone. However, the actual product was awesome, so I bought Spice and Heather. I found that Spice is so neutral that if you put it on first and then put on the Strawberry that it makes a very nice color. I was really looking for a redish color to wear to an upcoming wedding, and after reading the reviews, I purchased it in Cherry. What a super choice! It's fabulous! I also bought the gold shimmer balm to put on at the wedding reception; it's perfect! This lipstick stays on forever and looks great. Whenever I feel my lips getting a little dry, I just put on the balm, and they feel soft and moist once again. The most wonderful thing about this lipstick for me is that you do not need a lip liner, and it doesn't bleed into the lines on your upper lip. I just turned 45, and this has become a problem for me lately. While I do not have a great deal of wrinkles, it seems that all lipsticks and lip glosses seem to smear all over and run into the very fine lines above my lip. Well, let me tell you, this lipstick stays put and looks great. I am really happy, and who would have thought that Maybelline has such a great product? It just goes to show you that an expensive product isn't necessarily the best. I can't wait to try some more colors and am extremely happy with the results of this product. Everyone should definitely try it for themselves. It may not work for you, but it's worth a shot, because it worked for me, and I'm hooked. Good luck!
I must say I was leary about buying a stay put lip colour after the horrors of Cover Girl's Outlast. Well this is nothing like the Cover Girl kind. In fact it feels like nothing is on my lips. They feel soft and moist. I bought the Sand colour which I would describe as a mauvey pink. Looks so pretty against tanned skin. I wish I would have tried this sooner.
I LOVE Superstay! So far,I've tried Raisin (a brownish pinkish),Flame (bright red),Cabernet (another brownish pinkish),and Wine (another red). For everyday wear,I like Raisin the best...it's beautiful with a reddish glitter like shimmer.I bought Cabernet tonight after seeing Raisin was sold out,and Cabernet looks almost exactly like Raisin, except with no perty reddish shimmer.Wine is my favorite for night or dressing up...it's the PERFECT pinup girl red, just perfect!Flame is an OK red,but just a tad too orangey for my liking.I want to try the lighter colors next...
I like this and just purchased two more yesterday because it was buy-one-get -another for 50% off at Walgreens. I had originally purchased this in "Blush"(and I think I reviewed it under "Forever" lipstick...my bad) and I love this color for summer. Is a pinkish gold and I think it would look great on just about anybody (I am very pale with dark hair). I do find that the application can be a bit uneven and requires a little "go-over" while applying so that there's even pigment. It takes longer to dry than the ColorStay lipcolor (which I also like), so I just do something else for 2 minutes. Then, apply the balm which is not so much a gloss, but a moist look. It lasts through an 8 hour work day for me (balm of course has to be reapplied). It doesn't dry out my lips and comes off easily with my Neutrogena makeup remover. The other color I purchased is "pink" (how original!) and I haven't tried it yet. I do have one peeve and this is for a LOT of makeup companies...just TRY and read the color on the bottom of the tube...it's near impossible without a magnifying glass. I'm 45 years old and even with reading glasses, I can barely make out what it says. I asked my 17 year old son to read the bottom of my tube when I wanted to buy the same color and even HE had a problem. I've had that problem with other cosmetics too, so it's not just Maybelline. :)
