I really like this product simply because my skin will not tolerate anything else. I started taking Accutane a few months ago, a severe pill for acne, and for the first two months I couldn't put anything on my skin that wasn't a thick moisturizer. Even moisturizers with spf stung so I stuck to CereVe for two and a half months. Although my skin is still terribly dry and sensitive, I knew I needed a product with some light coverage that would even tone and wouldn't dry my skin any further, so I took a chance on this BB cream. It doesn't smell great, but it's makeup...so I'm not too worried about that. It looks great right now although leaves quite a dewy finish, but I'm not sure if I will continue using it when I stop taking the medication.
Okay enough BB but the smell is so bad, I threw it away. A heavy chemical smell. It also had a tendency to turn orange on the skin. The moisturizing benefit seemed okay but again, the smell was horrible and I am not THAT sensitive to smell!
The absolute worst...greasy and orange...nasty...threw it out
BB creams are designed to repair skin that has had a surgery. This BB cream goes on thick and greasy.
My skin is getting drier. I am at my Mid-40s and the elasticity and resilience I once had is gone with the youth of 28. I need something that is not going to emphasize wrinkles but rather care for them. I thought this Youth Code BB was going to be the answer. Something to nurish, even my skin tone and make my skin feel beautiful. I just want moisture added to my face since I am battling drier skin. This did NOT do the trick.
I find the texture to be heavy. Think diaper rash cream now prepackaged as a BB cream. A weighty, sticky, messy and difficult to manage cream that does not blend well. I almost fear it would break me out. I could not use this for very long. Less than one week. I tried this with and without foundation and it just did not work for me. It goes on nicely has a light scent almost scent free. ( I think most L'Oreal products are scent free) but does not last the way a foundation might. THICK is the best way to describe the texture. That melts off your face creating a slimy mess. Youth code BB did not last for me. It increased acne and oil rather than provide mositure for me. I did not use it long enough to know if it broke me out but I have this fear this would make my skin worse. It created a gray cast to my face. The lightest shade was still too dark for me. Not happy with this BB cream.
My personal opinion it is too expensive for what you are getting. $18 for a glorified hand cream. Don't waste your money. If you are going to spend money look for a better quality BB cream. Clarins, Clinique, Dr.Jart, Estee Lauder, Smashbox all range in the $30 price tag.... Omorovicza can run as high as $100 per oz. You don't need to buy that just spend a little more and get a better quality than this LOreal youth code. A BB cream must Repair and rejuvinate. I don't this is doing that.
I had been using the Youth Code SPF 30 Lotion for a full week, morning and night and absolutely loved it, so I bought the BB cream thinking it would be equally amazing. After applying, my skin looked luminous and smooth. My family members even commented on my glow.
The next morning, I awoke with my facial skin covered in what looked like small, angry cysts, coated in a red, itchy rash. Everywhere that I applied the BB cream, I had the rash, even an uneven swipe under my chin, you could actually see the haphazard application stroke! I used it the first day of an out of town vacation, so I did not have the luxury of being able to visit my derm. One week later, the rash has subsided and I'm left with a crusty complexion where the skin is healing. Horrible. Not sure what the allergen was in the cream, but I've looked at a couple forums where others have experienced similar reactions to the serum. Beware!
I wanted to love this product, and I did - at first. The first few days I used it, I liked the results and it made my skin look dewy and radiant, but then...I broke out. It had to be the product (no other changes to my routine), and I did notice it felt oilier on my skin. Might just be me - I have fairly sensitive skin, but if you're at all prone to breakouts...maybe skip this one.
I use this BB cream alone. It helps provide a luminosity to my skin that has it looking fresh pores are less visible without having to cake makeup on. I recommend it, especially for women in their 40's
Packaging: Shiny, silver squeeze tube. I actually like the squeeze tube, because it's easy to control how much product comes out and it's a lot more sanitary than jars. However the area around the hole that dispenses the product is raised, making it messy because product gets trapped in that area every time you use it.
Smell: Somewhat strong floral scent. It doesn't bug me, but those with sensitive skin might.
Consistency: Extremely lightweight. Feels just like a light lotion, but somewhat greasy.
Coverage: Very very light. Provides extremely little coverage. Perfect for those that have close to perfect skin.
Color: I am around a NC 25 and I got this in light. It's a pretty good match and I didn't notice it oxidizing or turning orange on me.
Finish: Dewy finish. Definitely not matte.
Price: I got mine for around $15, so it's not exactly the cheapest drugstore BB cream around.
Final thoughts: I really enjoyed this product at first, because it was lightweight and didn't feel heavy on my skin. It does make my entire face look oily after a few hours, which is odd, because the only area that has any oil on my face is my nose and the rest is normal/dry. After a week of using this product, my nose started getting red bumps and my cheeks got pimples due to clogged pores. I quit using this product and my skin cleared up and is perfectly fine now so I believe that it was this product that was breaking me out. Keep in mind that not many products break me out, because my skin isn't sensitive. **American BB creams are not real BB creams and more like tinted moisturizers. This is definitely an extremely lightweight, tinted moisturizer.**
Ideal for: Those with extremely dry, non-sensitive and near perfect skin that don't mind fragrances.
I like this bb cream, I like my 2 faced one, more, but u i do like this for a drugstore one. I have tried several now like 3 or 4. I would use this one before any of the other ds ones. this is one that Is an in betweeny for me... its good, but i would not call it amazing yet.
This is my second try at a BB cream, and I like this one better than the Maybelline one I tried. It doesn't provide the coverage of a foundation but its not supposed to. What it does do is hydrate and add a hint of tint. This smells really good and is a pleasure to use. I wouldn't repurchase, though, because I prefer more coverage.
