I LOVE this BB cream. I have FINALLY found my HG makeup base. Will be purchasing this until I find something better, which I doubt will come along for a long, long time.
+ Medium - full coverage
+ SPF UVA/UVB 50+
+ Doesn't create a white cast in photos
+ Doesn't clog pores
+ Dewy finish yet not oily
+ Doesn't cause irritation to they eyes/skin
+ soothing on skin
+ Packaging is amazing - when you're running low you can actually open the interior to scoop out the remaining cream. I find a lot of packaging for foundations waste product through terrible packaging.
+ Relatively cheap if purchased through Ebay
+ Lasted ages, despite using it so often. I had my first bottle for around 5 months and used it a few times a week.
- Colour selection - this BB cream is really for people with yellow undertones who are somewhere within NC15 - NC25
Not bad but the scent bothers me. Having tried a dozen different ones I settled on BRTC jasmine waters for daily wear and nature republic waterproof collagen bb cream for days when I expect to be outside and sweating.
Holy Grail product!
This is the *only* foundation I have found to date that matches my very very fair skin with yellow-neutral undertones (about NC10). I've tried various foundations from Western brands, but they either didn't match me or last long enough on the oiliest parts of my face. I didn't have any luck with Korean BB Creams either, Missha Perfect Cover in #13 was too grey and pink, Etude House Precious Minerals in #1 too pink, and the rest I tried were just orange on me. I think this BB Cream would also adjust well on NC15 and perhaps NC20 skin, but it'd probably be too fair for darker skintones.
The texture is creamy and quite thick, and it makes it easy to apply and blend using one's fingers. The coverage is about medium to full depending on how much product you use, and it won't look cakey. It doesn't emphasize pores or flakey skin, and gives a very pretty airbrushed look without looking overdone. I have combination skin with an oilier t-zone, and it lasts well over 10 hours on me with a primer and finishing powder (I haven't tried it without one). I feel the oil control is pretty good as my face would still look matte even after sweating horribly in the steamy New York subway during Summer! Other products would give me a shiny nose or forehead using the same primer and powder.
I got it on eBay for a little over $11 with shipping, which I believe is a right price for the amount it contains (40gr). You only have to use a little bit for the whole face so it will last for quite a few months.
All in all, super recommended product for those with very fair skin and warm undertones!
This particular Vital BB claims to have a matte finish, so I obtained it to test it against my oily, summer skin conditions. The cream dispenses via a squeeze pump, and because this has medium to full coverage, it should be applied sparingly to avoid the mask-like effect.
However, this negates the effectiveness of its very high SPF; to avoid the mask-like effect and still protect your entire face, I recommend wearing a separate clear sunscreen underneath first.
If you have very fair, neutral- or yellow-toned skin, this should be a good match as it only comes in a single, yellow-toned shade that will not work for cool undertones or medium to deep skin tones. I have light-medium skintone, so while the yellow undertones were perfect for me, this was actually too light for me, as I've had to mix it with darker BBs or foundations to match my skin tone.
This BB applies semi-matte and dries to a matte finish with little oxidation. I tested this in 100°F+ humid summer weather and found myself blotting oil already after only 2 hours of wear, so this does not stay matte for long and isn't very effective at controlling oil if the climate is extreme. But in 80°F–90°F its mattifying effects last a little longer, where I've blotted only once after around 4 hours of wear.
Over all, the coverage or staying power of this BB has lasted me around 7 hours in the summer. I have not tested this for winter wear. Also, because this has a matte finish intended to keep the skin dry, I'm not so sure that I recommend it for dry skin types, for which it may accentuate dry patches. This is probably best for normal to combo-oily skin types year-round, but it can't hurt for those with very oily skin to try this during the winter when their skin won't be as oily but still needs a matte finish.
I´m really sorry to say, that even though I have a fair to medium complexion, this is waaaaay to ligt for me, and also doesn´t considerably darken afgter applied. I look like I have a mask on, even with blending a lot. So, just not wearable for me. The reason why I give it two lippies instead of one: I like a lot that it´s packaged in a pump.
I bought a sample of this BB cream after reading good reviews. I am so glad I did!
I'll start by saying that my skin is a pain to buy make up for! I am really pale and have a very oily T Zone! It is very hard to find make up that doesn't make me look orange and that doesn't come off after an hour!
This BB cream was amazing!
The texture is quite light and it applied really easily and smoothly. It also provided excellent coverage and left my skin looking great. It looked a little grey on first application but it soon changed to match my skin tone. It matched really well!
I have had it on for around 4/5 hours now and there isn't even the first signs of oil! It has had the best oil resistance of all the ones that I have tired!
To sum up...
* Coverage is great!
* Matches pale skin
* Withstands oily skin
* Does not smell
* Easy to apply texture
* Won't work on medium to dark skin!
* Creases a little under my eyes, but I find they all do this! (Maybe I'm applying it wrong?)
I am now going to go buy a full bottle of this BB cream! ^^
This is the first BB cream and i love it. The only bad thing is that i feel that it is too light for my skin tone. It makes me look pale. Other than that i love it. It gives me enough coverage to where it looks natural.
I have such a love-hate relationship with this Vital Skin79 bb cream. On the one hand, the yellow undertone matches me a lot lot better than the hot pink and gold labels (I have gone through a bottle of each). My huge problem is that this label is way way lighter, as has been mentioned here multiple times. Hate Mac foundation and haven't been matched, but I'd say I'm between nc-20/nc-25 and this looks pale on me.
+ Better coverage than the Gold or Hot Pink labels
+ Will suit neutral to warm undertones, but will probably still look a bit off if you pull very yellow :(
+ Great SPF :)
+ Oxidises the least out of all the Skin79 bb creams I've tried, so if it matches you out of the bottle, you can chill the rest of the day and not worry about anything else you might be wearing on your face
+Transfers a lot less than the Hot Pink/Gold labels
- The colour match range is a lot smaller than the Hot Pink/Gold labels (I'd say people up to nc-15 could still wear this alone; if you hover around nc-20 you'll need powder, and if you're any darker just forget about it)
- Hard to blend
- It doesn't look as natural as the other two. It might be my skin (combo-dry and extremely finicky), but it almost looked like separated powder on my face. It looked better over primer/hyaluronic acid, but not smooth and perfect like I wanted it to :(
- Creased very badly under my eyes, which is a shame because it lightened up my under-eye circles pretty nicely
- This applies to all three bottles: I hate that you cannot see how much product you have left. You're gonna have to guess by weight. It also irritates me that there's no easy way to open the bottle to see if there is any way to salvage product that isn't coming out.
- Found it a bit drying on my cheeks, yet my nose got oily in about 4-5 hours (in the summer, but still, I normally never have a problem with oiliness). The real pisser was that it also gave me flakies around my nostrils which just blows my mind
- Looked awful under my bb compact powder, which I used hoping to correct the colour.
I'm still rating the Vital bb cream fairly high because I'm using it in combination with my Hot Pink label to warm up the tone. I use a ratio of 3:1 (Hot Pink to Orange) and I get the smoothness of the Hot Pink bb cream, with the nicer coverage and yellower undertone of the Hot Orange. I will probably buy this again to keep mixing the bb creams, but it would be much more convenient to be able to put this on as quickly as other bb creams and just be out the door. Still, decent product, and I wish more bb creams pulled yellow and not so much pinky gray.
Man, really hoped that this one would work for me. Unfortunately, it's turned out to be one of the most unsuitable BB creams for my skin that I've tried. Superficial firsts: I hate the packaging--it might be hygienic, but it's so...unnecessarily CYLINDRICAL. Also, the open-air pump hole makes me nervous about bacteria, and it clogs up pretty easily. It's also too easy to pump out more than you need, which is a special concern with this BB cream in particular. Second, it's way light. I'm neutral-toned, and tone-wise, it actually matches my skin really well (those who lean cool and the very warm-toned might have to adjust accordingly). It fails in the depth department. I have no clue what I am MAC-wise, but based on online swatches I'm guessing somewhere around NW25--basically I'm on the modestly darker end for an East Asian, but not very dark. Whatever I am, all I know is the cream does not adjust to my skin tone; it's still at least two shades too light after oxidizing, and my face is noticeably paler than my neck in natural lighting. You gotta be porcelain to wear this stuff--either that or be prepared to bronzer the shiitake out of your face. Third, it feels mask-like, heavy, and sticky no matter how sparingly I apply it. I'll give it credit for having really good coverage, but I can always feel it on my face. And if I pump out more than necessary (very easy to do), I'm either going to apply more than I need and be extremely white-faced, plus sticky, plus too masky to be real for the entire day, or bite the bullet and trash the excess on a tissue, thus wasting a perfectly good tissue (do you see what I did there). It doesn't seem to control oil at all. And the final clincher: It broke me out. But only on my forehead in my eyebrow area, weirdly enough.
I like that it has high SPF and I just adore the cheerful orange color of the packaging, which just screams "summer" to me! If you're looking for a whitening product, the arbutin combined with the high SPF should, over time and with consistent use, definitely help to lighten your face's shade. But I can't use it long enough to find out for myself! And what's the point of having a pale face half a year from now if my neck still doesn't match? I imagine it might be good to spot treat hyperpigmented areas (e.g. acne scars), so I shall be making use of it for that. It's also decent as an undereye concealer. But I doubt I will be buying this again.
I really love the finish and the high spf of this bb cream, but it is so hard to blend and often looks really cakey on me. But the brightening effect is so beautiful and makes my skin look flawless. I think I will have to stick with the hot pink bb cream from skin79.
