dont use this if you have combination skin! I got too lazy to wash my face with water so I started to JUST use this and the moisturizing lotion on my face.. i had soo many breakouts afterward it was a disaster and some of them still have not gone away.. my advice is to get a consultation before you buy any clinique products so you can figure out what's right for your skin.
I bought the three step system and I think this is my favorite product out of the soap, toner, and lotion. I think it smells nice. The first time I used it, it burnt. But then again my skin was icky that day. I've been using it everyday since August and it has completely changed my skin. I like it and I haven't gotten a pimple or anything since I've been using it. It's not good if you have really sensitive skin, I don't.. my skin could take on a hurricane. I have and will continue to surely buy this product again and again.
Worst toner i've ever used. I have combination skin and cant stand this. Smells awfull (alcohol), my skin burn every time i use it and it's inexplainably aggressive.
I'd probably avoid this if I had super sensitive skin..but I seeing as I don't, I like this product. It's not AMAZING, but it does its job. It gets rid of nasty dead skin, and while it's a little on the drying side, I have oily skin so its actually a plus for me.
You might as well use vodka, I used this when I was younger and my skin was terrible. I use Dermalogica now, my skin is bright and clear. This product alone ruined my skin!
I love it, I have only been using this for 2 weeks but I can already see a difference. My face is so smooth! I am so happy!! !
I used this product a couple of times as part of my shaving regimen. I applied it after shaving with an electric razor.
Huge mistake; my throat became super itchy and dry. I started scratching compulsively, and have had a rash for the past 3 weeks.
Please, don't buy this product, even just to experiment...
Update: after three weeks of misery, I visited a dermatologist. I was told that I was suffering from a case of dermatitis. He prescribed me a lotion that will fix up my rash after 3 weeks of application. I wish I never got the Clarifying Lotion!
I inherited this from my mom a while back, and thought I'd give it a try. I actually really like what it does for my combination skin. It has been drying me out a bit lately, but that's just because of climate changes on the west coast. I have had less breakouts since using the stuff. Not that I get a lot, but my skin is temperamental. Overall, I think this is a good value, because the bottle is huge and it lasts a while.
After using this product for over 2 years, my face keeps getting better and better. It removes all the dirt and dead skin your cleanser leaves behind. And my face continues to improve after so many years of using this. People ask what's my secret for having such a great complexion...I say "Always use a toner!" In this case, use this product, guaranteed results for combination skin!
The only thing that this stuff is really good for is tightening your pores (like any toner), and providing a little exfoliation. I use this once in a while if my skin is looking a little rough (this works great to "de-flake" skin, as they put it), but I would never use it everyday. It is basically rubbing alcohol. Even plain rosewater makes a much better toner than this (and only costs $2.50/bottle).
Update: Owing to new night cream, I am having fewing breakouts and now have more "normal" rather than combo skin. Started using this again as an experiment, and appreciate it more. Skin is fresh-looking, and overdrying has been less of a problem.
