this stuff will strip the hide off you! An expensive version of rubbing alcohol and darn near as harsh.
Probably 90% of the money Clinique makes from this is from naive teenage girls who walk past the Clinique counter and get suckered into it. I used it when I was in high school and hated it. I've never found another boutique to be more aggressive, less ethical, or more willing to take advantage of customers, especially young ones with body image issues. This stuff burns, and contains harsh, harsh chemicals which should not be put on anyone's face. People can and do use ths to shine shoes, clean counters and glass, and remove nail polish, NO JOKE. Don't let the ladies in white coats bully you into it-there are no magic results, ever. Oh, and don't fall for the "bringing impurities to the surface" line when your face starts breaking out, either. : /
I really like this toner. I was initially scared to buy it because everyone was saying it was so harsh, but I listened to the nice Clinique sales woman and bought it anyways. It did not dry out my skin and feels really cooling. Also it got my skin cleaner than the mild clarifying lotion that everyone is recommending. EDIT:I changed my mind this is really too strong, switched to Neutrogena alcohol- free toner. It is a lot gentler and makes my face feel fresh not stripped
I used this toner a long long time ago when I was a teenager. My mom bought it and I had never tried a toner before, so I thought I would give it a go! Well, the bottle eventually ran out, and, being a teen, I was sucked in by fancy packaging on various other toners... Long story short, after going through many toners which left my face feeling sticky or even more dirty than it was just after washing with soap and water, I have come back to this toner and still love it more than anything else I've tried. YES it stings, but it's a GOOD sting! :) I just love that it leaves my face feeling so fresh and TRULY clean... Give the trial size a go!
Just for reference - my skin is EXACTLY as described on the back of the bottle... Oily around the nose/chin and dry on the cheeks.
this makes your skin glow and it feels good..you see dirt on the cotton pad.
but if you have pimples, it will do NOTHING but irritate them.
Oooh~ This stings my face so much!
To clear it, I have dry skin but some acne, and even more acne scars. Which makes using pimple creams too drying. Two different Clinique counters have suggested that I used this and it stings both time I used it. They said it's supposed to "tingle" but when I tried it at home, it stung like crazy. The only thing I liked was the minty-ness.
Good thing it was a sample bottle.

It burns a little at first if you have open blemishes, but the more I use it the less that happens. It makes my skin feel great. I was using the #3 toner but the salicylic acid in that dried my skin now that its getting colder out. this toner though does a great job. I used to hate it, but now I dont feel complete without it.*************update************** I always like this after the first few uses. but after a few days my skin freaks out from irritation and dries out. the menthol is ridiculous. this is only for strong skins! and NOT for dry/combination skins like they say!!!
I hate this product. It only made my skin worse and worse. Everything I have ever tried by Clinique has broken me out! What's the hype for.
I use this during the cold seasons since it's more gentle on my skin than #3. It does exactly what a toner should do: disinfect, exfoliate a little, and prep skin for moisturizer, which is a must after using any toner.
I have slightly oily skin that develops the occasional spot - however I found this product far too astringent and developed almost acne-like skin as a result. My skin also seemed greasier after using this product. I also found that rather than "preparing" my skin for moisturiser, this product's immediate effect was to evaporate anything I applied to my skin. I think I'll stick to my L'Oreal Ideal Balance wipes and hope my skin recovers soon...
