I read a lot of reviews here saying how this product sucks as a cleanser. Important note to begin with: Do not use this as a cleanser alone. It is intended to be used after your double cleanse routine for best results. I start off with Dermalogica's Precleanse (miracle product!!) and my gentle cleanser and followed by this Daily Microfoliant.
All my life I have pretty much combated clogged pores and pimples as I have combo to oily skin. After changing my skincare range to include this microfoliant, my god I was surprise to see less and less blackheads/whiteheads forming and that I have fairly clear skin now - minimal pimples. Even so, they are tiny.
I now believe in investing in proper skincare and technique. No more supermarket brands for me! Best used at night so your treatment lotions/potions can be fully absorbed. :D I'm so happy I found this product!! Makes my skin super smooth! One 75g bottle Lasts a long time even when used daily!
Unfortunately, I'm not impressed by this. It's definitely gentle, too gentle for me. I guess I prefer a physical exfoliant. This stuff basically dissolves when it comes into contact with water. It becomes a paste which you have to rub on your face for about a minute. Pro: It did not leave my skin feeling dry afterwards, which I find that some exfoliants do, but not in this case. Con: I still had some flakes on my skin though. I suppose I need something more powerful to leave my skin feeling smooth and flake-free. The only one that's been able to do that for me is Clinique Exfoliating Scrub, but it make me break out. One more thing...this does contain talc, which is not listed on the ingredient lists on other websites. Well, here are the ingredients listed on my sample packages:
Microcrystalline Cellulose, Talc, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Colloidal Oatmeal, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Extracts of: Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Leaf, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit, Oryza Sativa (Rice), Ginkgo Biloba Leaf, Camellia Sinensis Leaf, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice); Essentials Oils of: Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit ) Peel; Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Limonene, Allantoin, Salicylic Acid, Aspergillus Ferment, Papain, PCA, Allyl Methacrylates Crosspolymer, Cyclodextrin, Methylparaben, Titanium Dioxide. continued >>
I really like this product and have been using it for almost a year now. I was looking for a daily scrub that I can leave in the shower so I remember to use it. My skin is smooth and soft. Even though I still have blackheads, this product has helped tremendously. I really like Dermalogica products in general, but this one is on the top of my list. The only thing is it's large upfront cost but it does last forever. It would be great if they can make a smaller size for travel.
This stuff is fantastic! I am a product junkie and love anything with BHA's, AHA's retinol and any other hardcore exfoliating substance in it. I recently took it a little too far and gave myself reactive, de-hydrated and (oh my god) spotty skin because the products I was using were too harsh. I have been fighting with congested some times oily, sometimes de-hydrated acne prone skin for the majority of my teens up to now (25) and at times the harsh products I have used have made my skin worse! Due to the fragile state of my skin I started to use the dermaolgica kit for sensitized skin and got a sample of the microfoliant with the kit. I can't lie when I first used it my skin got even more de-hydrated and broke out horribly......very upsetting! I wanted to stick with this product though as there are sooooo many glowing reports about it on MUA and I thought all these ladies can't have got it wrong! I decided to purchase the skin hydrating booster and use it under my barrier repair cream and hey presto, my skin was hydrated enough for the microfoliant to work like a dream. I now have smooth, soft, clear, even toned skin and not a harsh product in site! I am a dermalogica convert and this is one of my HG products without a doubt! It has given me the skin I have been trying to achieve all this time but without covering my skin in acids and retinol and without the sensitivity!
I've used this for a few years and people come up to me and ask if I've had microderm or what I use to have such a nice complexion. (aside from the acne meds I use), I credit continual exfoliation like this product and the gentle cream exfoliant. It lasts a long time, is gentle and makes skin feel great after using. It seems like a subtle product, but it clears away all the dead skin from the surface without harsh, physical exfoliants.
Update*** I've stopped looking for a better way to exfoliate daily. I upped the review to 5 lippies - I still keep getting compliment on my skin.
This product did not impress me at all. I much prefer Avon's microfoliant and that is really saying something because I hate Avon products.
This feels like putting baking soda or some other house cleaning chemical on your face.
I'll stick with the Avon for weekly microfoliant and Dermalogica's Prep Scrub every second day.
It worries me that a lot of people using this product seem to be using it completely wrong and then complaining about it!
First of all, it's not a cleanser! It's an exfoliant! Being a DAILY microfoliant, if you don't use it daily, after cleansing, it wont work properly. If you find it dries your skin out too much when used daily then don't use it at all! Not every product can be for everyone. Secondly, this product is supposed to be used as a foaming exfoliant. Sprinkle a little into your damp hands, rub it around a bit, if it doesn't foam in your hands use more water, don't be shy with it! Once it's foaming in your hands, then apply it to your face. I know this because I went to a dermalogica product info night at one of their institutes. I use this product every day, my skin is combination with both mega oily and extra dry parts. If I use this regularly my skin gets more even, so soft, bright and smooth. I LOVE it. I hope you girls start using this product correctly from now on!
i have used this product for 2 days and as with all dermalogica products, it didnt wow me and i generally dont like it.
it felt good on the skin, not grainy but maybe im biased, as i just have had no luck with any of dermalogicas products that iv bought.
however, there are many great reviews on all skin boards about this. even tho i wouldnt rec this product, theres no harm in trying it out, as the price isnt THAT expensive
great product, great for sensitive skin use, gentle enough to use once a day
