I'd never used Benefit's products before but always heard of them. Boots was doing a deal where you get 500 points (£5) when you buy two products. I fell for it and bought four things to get 1000 points, ahh.
Anyways I was looking at the stand but had absolutely no clue what to look at first. The SA came up to me and applied different things. I couldn't tell much difference when she applied That Gal on half of my face but it was because the store had such bright lights. I love the scent of rasberry milkshake/bubblegum. Many negative reviews complain about the none glowing effect expected. I was told by SA straight away that it reflects light without the shimmer. Now in the past when i tried out things that is meant to make me glow, they just end up being filled with shimmer/metallic non natural looking stuff on my face. Whereas i love this product with Chamomile to calm the skin and pinkness to make my skin not as dull looking. It makes me seem more awake in a natural way. I use it without foundation, just on its own so could be different with others i guess. I do however apply a little powder (mainly nose and t-zone) due to my oiliness later on the day. I've dumped mainy products away without even getting to half way and this I think will be one i will use up for the first time regardless of the price it's worth looking natural for once. Its worth every use. AND it costs more in uk. £19.50!
This product is horrible...............it broke me out everwhere I put it. Not sure what the main ingredient is? However on the flip side it does leave a nice pink rosy glow on the face. I will not be buying this product again due to the breakouts and the price is insane!!!!
It made my skin oily...lack lust illuminacity. Poor product and way to pricey.
I could not wait to try this product and I am not at all disappointed (as I usually am when I build a product up in my mind). As soon as I put this fruity-smelling pink liquid on 1/2 my face, I saw an immediate difference. The primer side looked more even and slightly rosy (without looking weird). My foundation went over it easily and smoothly and I did, in fact, see that sought after glow under my foundation. It wasn't like a neon light but who wants that?. Also, my MU lasted well although I will have to a more scientific experiment in the future :).
I'm nc-35 ish, medium olive, 42 with normal skin (occasional small blemish with a history of oily and alot of blemishes).
I recommend this product. Its quite different then all the others and has something new to offer IMO.
Update: Still loving this product but its become apparent that if I use too much or with an oilier foundation, its overkill. I think, therefore, that oily gals might have a harder time with this product.
I had high hopes for this product-I'm all about a glowy look. This review is based on my experience with my skin, but I've heard wonderful things from others. Basically, it comes out as pink cream you apply to your face before foundation. The SA said it would add a glow to my face without enlarging pores or being oily. The texture is fine; it didn't enlarge pores or break me out. But it also didn't do anything else. I tried it a few times, but it did not make me look glowy or anything near it. I am a PPP by the way, which is why I was hoping this would work. Basically, it was a $26 waste for me. Instead of this, I will continue to use High Beam which actually does ass a subtle glow.
I was pretty excited to try this product because of the great idea. I have Smashbox Primer but I also wanted to experience with something else. However, I was dissatisfied with That Gal. I'm not so sure what this 'glow' business is that people have been mentioning but I did not experience any such thing. It felt more like a moisturizer than a face primer. And the price was too high for my taste.
LOVE IT ! I have had bad luck with primers and highlights before, even BeneFit's, but this cute little product does the work of both, and it's fabulous. I have been looking for something just like this forever! I don't have the best skin (it's oily and also acne prone), but my foundation, powder, and blush look SUPER smooth when I apply That Gal beforehand. It's very lightweight and has a pleasant soft smell to it (almost a hint of strawberries!). You need not wait long before you apply foundation,if you choose to. When I use That Gal, my make up just looks better. I am definitely getting this again!
Chalk up another dissatisfied customer. This product did absolutely nothing to my skin. No better, no worse. I would have been better off spending the $26 on sheep embryos for my face.
This product did nothing for me - and I saw no difference in how my makeup went on. Again, very overpriced. The Benefit MA oohed and ahhhed over how gorgeous it looked when she applied it, but I didn't get the same effect at home. There are better products out there.
I should've known better to try this. I have a history of breakouts when it comes to cosmetics that contain a lot of mica for shimmer. I'm such a sucker for new products, so I gave this a shot even though I knew what was to come....sure enough, after just one day of using this, my skin developed three cystic pimples (one on the cheek and two near the mouth/chin). Apart from the horrible reaction, I didn't find this to make my complexion look flawless nor smooth & glowing. If anything, it made the surface of my skin look glittery and actually accentuated my pores. I would caution anyone with oily or breakout prone skin expecially to sample this first, because it's not an oil-free formula and may cause breakouts/pore-clogging regardless of skin sensitivity. ~~~INGREDIENTS: water * octyldodecanol * glycerin * cetyl dimethicone * glyceryl stearate * tapioca starch * phenyl trimethicone * potassium cetyl phosphate * cyclopentasiloxane * titanium dioxide * phenoxyethanol * tribehenin * sesame seed oil * caprylyl glycol * mica * behenyl alcohol * cetyl alcohol * polyacrylate 13 * sweet almond seed extract * carbomer * PEG-100 stearate * polylsobutene * aminomethyl propanol * benzophenone-4 * butylene glycol * sorbic acid * lentinus edodes extract * disodium EDTA * BHT * iron oxides * fragrance * sorbitan isostearate * raspberry fruit extract * anthemis nobilis flower extract * polysorbate 20 * sodium methylparaben * algae extract * tin oxide * sodium propylparaben * sodium ethylparaben * methylparaben * linalool * propylene glycol * ethylparaben * butylparaben * chlorphenesin * red33 * citric acid * propylparaben * isobutylparaben * sodium dehydroacetate
