I love this stuff-it changed my skin for the better and I am not looking back. I will never use any commercial, chemically-filled toner again in my life.

This stuff completely DESTROYED my face. Within two days of using this stuff, my face became rough and scaley. My eyes and face became swollen. People could barely recognize me. It was so bad, that when I went to Walgreens, a sales associate there recommended acne medication to me. I didn't even ask! Anyway, I had never had anything like what I had experienced with witch hazel happen to me. It was a total nightmare. The derm said it was an allergic reaction. Now I have permanent wrinkles because my face became so dry because of witch hazel. I'm only 25! My face felt rougher then sandpaper. I followed the derm's instructions and used hydro cortisone to clear this up. That along with a lot of praying helped me. I'd say it took about 2 weeks to clear up, but months to have my skin become nice and even again. Even after the roughness cleared up, people I knew would still come up to me and ask me what happened to my face. No more witch hazel for me.

OMG!! I started using this about a week ago. I definitely say I will be rebuying. I have combo skin & use wet cloths from L'Oreal. This really cleans out all the deep down dirt. I am also losing the blackheads on my nose. Big plus for me. Two thumbs up.

This is my #1 miracle product. I have normal skin that can get oily. I bought this after I read many great reviews on it. I had to dilute it with water, because it was too strong.

At first, it smells like fermented raisins, which is gross, but the smell fades when you apply with a cotton pad. It makes your skin unbelievably smooth that you almost can't feel your face! It clears small bumps and really evens skin tone. I recommend this to literally everyone. Its so cheap too, only $2.40 at CVS, which is a great deal for the huge bottle. I wouldn't say its great for traveling, the bottle is so big!!!!

I've used this regularly for about a year now and it has made a noticeable difference in my skin. For reference, I have mild acne, scars, random bumps... it has calmed all of them. I rarely break out now, save for the odd hormonal pimples. It also effectively removes leftover traces of makeup (I wash/remove makeup with Olay's Foaming Cleanser... check that one out also if you have combination skin with acne!). I soak a cotton pad with a couple drops and gently go over my face, then move onto moisturizer. One thing I love about it is that it does not sting upon application. It is refreshing, gentle, and does not leave a sticky residue. However, it does not travel well; I've taken the bottle on two international flights and both times there was some leakage (though it was in a plastic baggie), and went all over my clothes. I don't mind the smell though, it smells nicely herb-y and organic, and it fades very quickly anyway. Give this one a shot if you have sensitive, acne-prone skin. I don't wear a full face of foundation anymore, only concealer. Tip: dissolve a couple aspirin tablets in it for a really nice aspirin toner :)

I'm not sure if I would buy this again. I like the scent and it makes my skin feel nice, but when I use it, I notice I get more breakouts and dry patches. It could have been a coincidence, but I'm afraid to use it again. I keep it around to wipe off my cell phone at the end of the day.

This is a staple in my skin regimen. I have combination, redness/ breakout/ acne prone skin. I've been using Dickson's Witch Hazel (in the blue bottle) for about two months now, and it really makes a difference on my skin. I use it as a toner after cleansing with a fruit enzyme facial cleanser (either Mario Badescu's enzyme cleansing gel or Alba's pineapple and papaya facial cleanser), then tone with WH applied with a cotton ball or pad. I'm telling you, my redness has reduced, old blemish scars have faded, and my breakouts have subsided and the duration is shorter. My moisturizer and make up apply better as well. It didn't cause breakouts at all, and my skin is very sensitive when adding a new product. Plus, it is extremely affordable and readily available. I picked up a bottle at Target for under three dollars. I should mention that I also used Mario Badescu's Cucumber Cleansing Lotion at night as an acne fighting agent, but I would never stop using WH and may just keep that as my only toner once my Badescu runs out.

The smell is strong, but don't let that stop you! It fades quickly and the results far out weigh the smell. It's too affordable not to give it a try!

I love this product.
I have large visible pores. I don't think any product will minimise the look of my pores, but I don't use it for this reason. I use it to calm and tone my skin (the primary reason for the product in my mind) and since using this, I've noticed that my skin has a better glow about it.
After cleansing with Olay's Gentle foaming cleanser (with aloe), I use a cotton pad and wipe my entire face with a bit of this toner.
My only gripe would be the packaging. It's doesn't travel well as the lid doesn't remain completely shut. But for the good that it has done my skin, I'll over-look this minor flaw anyday!
People complain about the smell. I'm so used to it that I don't even notice the smell anymore.
I have bought again and will continue to!
EDIT: 2 April 2010: Knock on wood, but my skin is the best that it has looked in years. I'm not sure whether this is the main reason for the improvement or whether it is the consistent routine but I definitely think that this has helped greatly. I continue to love this. Thanks MUA for the initial recommendation.

Dickinson's makes a witch hazel specifically as a toner, but since there isn't a listing for specifically the toner I'm reviewing this.
I LOVE Dickinson's witch hazel. It's great for balancing out my skin, sucking up extra oil, and just refreshing it on a hot day.

At night, I wash my face with Aveeno Clear Skin foaming wash, then use noxema clear skin pad which removes all traces of make up that my cleanser might have missed, and treats my skin with 2% salycylic acid. In the morning, I squirt some witch hazel on a cotton pad and wipe my face, then apply my SS and foundation. My skin has never looked better since I started this routine. Witch Hazel is cheap about $2 for a big ol' bottle. It also has a smell that takes some getting used too, however it doesn't last long and by the time it dries there is no noticeable scent. It does not leave a film on my skin--at all. I also feel that this has really helped to normalize my skin, I'm not too dry, not too oily. And, that is a miracle, coming from a girl that has always had oily skin. This is a HG toner. If you like using/or want to use a toner...then try this first, you have nothing to lose and a glowing complexion to gain!
