too, oily .But my mother use it ,sha said:"it's right for middle aged people...
This foundation is amazing. This would've been my HG if it didn't break me out!!!!! I'm not one to break out from makeup products. The first day I tried this on, I fell in love!! It stayed on all day, didn't oxidize, kept me matte all day (which I thought I'd never say for any foundation cause i'm REAALLYY oily on my tzone). I loved this product so much but after only 2-3 days, I developed lots of pimples. I had kept up the same skin routine all throughout this summer and my skin was actually improving until I started using this product.
-stays on ALL DAY, seriously!! I checked after 8 hours in the sun and it still look perfect.. could've gone longer.
-mattifying.. usually check every 2-3hours but with this product, didn't need to blot.
-really stays in place, ZERO TRANSFER!
-sheer coverage; enough to even skin tone (will still need concealer tho)
-squeeze tube packaging allows good control over quantity dispensed
-will look cakey on dry spots and kinda accentuates dry spots so moisturize well!
-expensive $44 at The Bay (Canada)
-broke me the eff out!!!!
UGH I really wish this didn't break me out or else my quest for my HG foundation would be over by now!!!!!!
My HG foundation. I'm a pale NW, and the Intensity 1.0 shade is an exact match for me. This lighter version of Double Wear gives the most perfect coverage, evening out my skintone but remaining completely undetectable on my skin (I apply this with my MAC 190 brush). I think this is the most I've ever spent on a foundation, but probably also one of my best makeup buys ever. I will re-purchase!
I didn't know how much I liked this product until I went back to using Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation. I got the Double Wear Light as a sample when I bought the regular coverage Double Wear and the sample has lasted more than two weeks (it still hasn't run out). I like the consistency and lighter coverage. I realize now that the Double Wear (which I will continue to use for work) does such a good job of covering flaws and staying on that it doesn't look very natural. Finally, I applied the sample with a foundation brush or with my finger, which might explain why it has lasted so long. I started doing this because the Estee Lauder sales lady said that using a sponge wasted a lot of foundation. She apparently was right. .
Beautiful foundation with a gel-creamy consistency, very good lasting power, easy to spread, natural looking, buildable coverage, moisturising, good oil control, flattering matt-dewy finish, pleasant scent. Only big complain: the colour range. Too poor and too yellow/warm-based. Intensity 1 hardly fits my skin, being 2C1 Dusk/2N1 Desert Beige in the conventional DW. All other colours are too warm and too yellow. Waiting for EL to widen the colour range and adapt it to the conventional version.
This was weird for me...
I felt like EL DW was too thick for me. So, I thought I'd try EL DW Light. This stuff just sinks into my skin automatically - I don't even have time to blend or mix it around. What ends up happening is that you need to use a lot of product.
Also - the color selection...I am NC20 - an Ecru in ELDW, but in this I tried Intensity 2 and that was way too pink for me. But Intensity 1 was waaay too light, and anything darker would be a train wreck.
So..this is not a winner for me. I'm testing out DiorSkin Nude and also NARS Sheer Glow. I am balking at the price tags, but love testers!
This foundation was AMAZING. It had great coverage---hid my imperfections, yet wasn't like wearing a "mask". It also felt and looked natural, and flawless. It didn't oxydize, and it controlled my oil. The problem? The color selection is TERRIBLE, and it has neutral/pink undertones!! No matter how little I applied, my face never matched my neck, as I need yellow undertones. It's horrible, it was such a great foundation too...
I read the great reviews on the original DW, and I was excited to try the light version given I don't really need a full coverage foundation but would like a foundation that still offers good coverage to even out discoloration, conceal occasional acne ect. I think this is a great foundation for someone who needs medium coverage, but it was still just a tad too heavy for me.The color intensity 2 matched me pretty well, (the 3 was a tad too dark) Unfortunately, there is a limited selection of shades available so it might be hard to match some skin-tones. It did a good job, (but not a great job) of controlling oil. On the plus side though, this is definitely a long wearing foundation. Overall, a great foundation, just not for me.
In the past I have used Physician's Formula mineral powder, MAC Studio Fix powder Foundation and RCMA, and this Estee Lauder foundation is probably the last one I'd wear. I don't wear a lot of foundation and the only reason I use it is to even my skin tone a bit. Though after 3 days of using just his product in the morning, it felt like it turned my skin a little pinkish. This could be a mistake on the Estee Lauder MUA's part, but the foundation color when poured out looks fine and matches. I don't know what it is, but I almost would prefer sticking to my other choices than this. Plus it's extremely pricey for the amount of product you get. I understand it's high-end, but I say pass on this unless you don't mind shelling out a lot of cash.
-finishes nicely on the skin, doesn`t leave that cakey feeling
-no bad smells
-no pump application
-if you have dry skin or patches of dry skin, it will make it show even more once you put this foundation on!
-make sure you moisturize well before applying this foundation
-looks best with a primer
-overall, a good foundation for the money!
