In the past I have used Physician's Formula mineral powder, MAC Studio Fix powder Foundation and RCMA, and this Estee Lauder foundation is probably the last one I'd wear. I don't wear a lot of foundation and the only reason I use it is to even my skin tone a bit. Though after 3 days of using just his product in the morning, it felt like it turned my skin a little pinkish. This could be a mistake on the Estee Lauder MUA's part, but the foundation color when poured out looks fine and matches. I don't know what it is, but I almost would prefer sticking to my other choices than this. Plus it's extremely pricey for the amount of product you get. I understand it's high-end, but I say pass on this unless you don't mind shelling out a lot of cash.
-finishes nicely on the skin, doesn`t leave that cakey feeling
-no bad smells
-no pump application
-if you have dry skin or patches of dry skin, it will make it show even more once you put this foundation on!
-make sure you moisturize well before applying this foundation
-looks best with a primer
-overall, a good foundation for the money!
After years of searching for the perfect foundation IMO this is about as good as it gets....I donít mind the price because its good...I donít like the packaging, I would prefer a pump/bottle
I used the original Double Wear about a year ago and liked it but couldnít seem to get the perfect shade match for me...and it was quite drying...I know now that you do have make sure your skin is well hydrated before application.
The colour shade in DW-Light intensity 2 is 100% perfect match for my skin and I am nw20/25 in Mac.
I have found that if you use a brush to apply this foundation you seem to use more...I use a lot less using my fingers to apply, and get a better coverage too.
I use this all over my face for a nice natural coverage...then use the DW concealer for my problem areas.
It stays all day long...is water based so good for your skin...I break out like nothing but this does NOT break my skin out at all.
You must make sure your cleansing well to remove it fully.
Its buildable for fuller coverage without going cakey but can be sheer if used lightly.
This was referred to me by a beautiful relative and was my very first high-end foundation. I already had problems from the very beginning, such as price ($37 tax included), you just can't see someone who's a senior in high school being able to afford this all the time. But I thought that since it's 'high-end' it'll be well worth my money. I was wrong.
First things first though, the pros. I found that this foundation is really good for evening out complexion, and if used with a brush (fingers works too) it gives you a 'porcelain' look. It feels very light and can cover dark areas around the eyes. Very pretty. I got compliments all the time!
The cons. Objectively, as I've said, it's pricey. Another thing is that this makeup is designed to last about two-three months, I found that after that time, the shade would get darker and 'orange-y' which did not match the color it was initially. On the subjective view, even though it did give me porcelain skin, the coverage wouldn't cover blemishes (it's very sheer coverage) and then, months later I found out that my blemishes that I've had for months and wouldn't go away- was caused by this very foundation!
It said non-acnegenic so I never expected it to be the cause.
In the end I had to return it and invest on a different foundation. Two stars because it served some purpose, but hurt my skin.
I've been searching high and low for a light, natural foundation that doesn't make me extra oily and has some staying power throughout the day... can't believe it took me so long to try this one! I've tried Trish M, Lancome, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, etc. But, wow, so far loving my EL DW Light!
If I had more money to spend every month, this would hands down be my HG foundation. It has the best natural coverage I've ever seen, and it's staying power is nothing short of amazing.
The colors are great, I didn't find it hard to get it in my shade at all. I am very fair skinned, so the lightest shade (Shell, I believe) matched perfectly.
Unfortunately, it didn't take long before I needed to purchase again, because there's not a lot of product per container. It's too expensive.
If there were more product per container, then it would be worth the price. Great product, fantastic quality in itself, just too expensive for how little product you actually get.
probably the only foundation i always repurchase... love it for daytime and work etc, i can put it on and forget about my make up for the day and know its goin to stay put. packaging is great too, price is ok its worth it, a 30ml tube nearly lasted me 8 months and i wear it most days, i find i only need a small amount and less when i wear primer. overall love it and would recommend for girls with oily skin, only thing i found is it dnt look great in photos
NC40: I bought this and then set it aside for a while. My color is Shell Being 05. It is a good match for my skin color. I have applied this with a light and heavy hand. This makeup never looks good w/too much. The lighter the better. Because it applies such good coverage, u don't need a lot. There is no pump, so it is kind of a pain getting the product out of the bottle. I would buy it again, but I'm not sold that it is the perfect foundation for me.
I got this foundation as a summer alternative to the relatively heavy Double Wear. This does not provide the coverage of the original, but it still covered most of my problem areas with ease. I feel this is a light-medium coverage foundation, not sheer. Like the original this goes on best over moisturized skin, and I don't think it would work well for those with dry skin. The color selection is very limited, and many may have trouble finding a match. This foundation does last all day for me, even without powder. SPF 10 is really pitiful, and I wish it wasn't included at all. I really like the natural lasting finish this foundation gives, but I am still on the hunt for my HG.
A nice light foundation that does last all day - but not for my skin. I found that as soon as I put it on I had flakey patches on my forehead and it felt tight on my skin. The colours are also very limited - the Intensity 1 was too light and 2 was a bit dark. As I don't put foundation all over my face the colour match is important. I moved on to try the Nutritious foundation and this in Intensity 1 was perfect for my slightly dry skin.
In summer this may work better for me, when my skin tends to get a bit oilier and darker with the sun.
UPDATE - I mix a bit of this with my EL futurist (after I saw their make up artist video do that with a foundation) and it helps that last all day and works well on my skin. .
