I loved the way this make my lashes look and I loved the brush but by the end of the day I had smudges under my eyes and I normally don't have that problem with mascaras
I wanted to love this mascara. I really did.
I have decently long and decently full lashes that are rather fine and easily weighed down by mascara. Typically, I like mascaras with smaller bristle-brushes and formulas that err on the dry side. With that being said, I should have steered away from They're Real, with it's huge plastic comb and incredibly wet texture.
It left me with limp, stick straight lashes that were clumped into like 3 major sections. It was a huge pain to remove, even with my reliable MUFE Sens'Eyes, and I definitely lost some lashes along the way. No bueno.
With all that being said, it has a great rich black color and the packaging is cute enough.
I'm on the fence with this I think....
The packaging for me is just ok, i like the thick metal heavy tube, but I don't like the gaudy writing on the front of it but hey ho, that's benefit for you.
I like the brush which is kind of rubber/plastic type of brush, but it's easy to stab yourself in the eye if you're not careful so watch that. Generally i'm a bit more of a fan of bristile brushes to be honest.
I find that this mascara goes kind of hard and stiff on my lashes which I am not a fan of, it does a decent job, but honestly? Nothing that is really worthy of the hype it gets.
Basically, i'm on the fence because this mascara is just ok but it's hyped to DEATH by benefit and the price really is too much for what it is.
I know that it's not the only expensive mascara, and by all means I've actually paid MORE for a mascara than what this one costs, but I pay for luxury and i'm cool with that. I don't feel the luxury when I use benefit products - no nice smells, luxury elegance or anything like that with this mascara.
I know that my tick boxes aren't everyone elses but frankly I could get the same type of mascara in a drug store for less money - same hype, same type of wand, same gaudy writing on the front and the same over sexed model hawking it to everyone....
For those reasons I'm not that impressed with this mascara. That, and it's not that good, it didn't do a lot for me to be honest.
I might revisit it one day to see if I still feel the same about it, but in the meantime I'll stick to my Guerlain Noir G mascara, which I pay a lot of money for, but which I feel is worth it for the luxury and elegance.
Benefit, you did a good mascara here, but nothing ground breaking, so lay off the hype.
I was impressed initially by this mascara. My lashes are blond and invisible and this mascara really made them stand out. Like many other reviewers, I lost interest when I found how difficult it was to remove. More difficult even than waterproof mascaras I use. If it came in brown I might purchase it anyway when I want dramatic lashes, but the black is too harsh on me.
If there is one purchase I regret in the last 3 months, it is this mascara. I tried it for a few days to give it a chance before I judged it. 2 days in my lashes started falling every time I wash them off although I'm very patient with mascaras and always saturate a cotton pad with enough remover and hold it on each eye for at least 2 minutes before I even check to see if the mascara is is breaking down. This was a pain to remove, and through out the day my lashes felt very dry, stuck, and painful to the touch (the lashes themselves, not the lash line). I haven't used it since, and definitely won't ever again.
Not impressed at all. Thickened but did not lengthen lashes at all. Very pricey for performance.
I received a sample size from Birchbox and just purchased a full-size tube from Sephora. I have long lashes, but they aren't very thick. This mascara gave them "oomph". I curl my lashes first, then apply by wiggling the brush at the base of my lashes then pulling it through. I use only one coat (my eyes are easily overpowered by a lot of eye makeup) and have had no issues with clumping. The bristles on the very tip of the brush are great for reaching lashes at the outer corners. The only drawback is that this stuff is tough to remove completely...I often wake up with under-eye smudges, even after I thought I completely removed the mascara the night before with remover.
i got a sample from sephora's bday gift promos. i love how it doesnt clump like the other ones, especially my right eye's lashes are clumped even w/o makeup, so it hard to make them separate, but this one does it so well.
I absolutely love this mascara. If you are looking for a volumizing mascara, this probably isn't it. I have a few other mascaras I also love, but this is by far my favourite and the one I use the most and would definitely repurchase. And the name is perfect, because I have actually had people comment on my eyelashes and ask if I'm wearing fake eyelashes!
Probably not a buy again for me. I bought the mini one for $10 to try it out. $23 is just too much for a mascara, even a full size one. What this mascara did for me was lengthen, but no thickening at all. If you want a mascara which does both then I recommend L'oreal Voluminous. Its way more inexpensive and does the job.
