I wanted to start using foundation, a mineral foundation, but I couldn't afford to buy Bare Minerals. I walked through Walgreens and found this product on sale. Keep in mind that this is my first time using any kind of foundation or cover up on my face. It worked out great for me. The Kabuki brush would be better if it was a little bit bigger, but it's a good tool for beginners. I eventually switched back over to my foundation brush, because the Kabuki started shedding..I love this product. It didn't clog my pores and it didn't cause acne. It evened out my skin without looking cakey or too powdery. I will repurchase again.
p.s. It looks even better if you purchase the mineral finishing veil on top of it. :)
I bought this to give mineral make up another try--was not a big fan of BE as it is $$$ and turned color on me. The color I got worked well and it has decent coverage but it is somewhat drying to my skin even with moisturizer. Feels a bit masky.
It makes a good substitute for the BE coverup-bisque-I think and is much cheaper. It is messy to use but much quicker than BE since there is only 1 step to it. All in all, ok product but not my ideal.
The color I got is Natural Ivory which was a bit light for my skin tone. This foundation is not very blendable unless you press the brush down very hard, which ends up irritating your skin, so it goes on unevenly if you're not careful. The brush is not of the best quality. I feel it is too small even though the bristles are densely packed. It gives good coverage but makes the face look cakey. The powder is not that fine. It is also a bit drying if you don't have mosturizer underneath. I wouldn't buy this product again.
I decided to try this because of some of the reviews I've read here. I'm a BE user, have been for years, but there are some things about it I'm tired of dealing with -- mainly the price and the sheen it leaves on my face. Other than that, it's the best foundation I've used on my super-oily skin. So, I get the Maybelline Mineral Power and basically just quickly "slap" some on to give it a road test while I was at home. It went on great, has no sheen, and seems to cover my redness and flaws better than BE. Plus, it takes less time for me to apply. With BE, I have to start off with Bisque and cover all my flaws, then I apply the foundation, using two different BE brushes. I can just sort of swish some of the Maybelline on, pop on a little bronzer and I look decent enough to leave the house. If I spent a little more time, I'd look even better. I'm going to keep using it, and if my opinion changes, I'll update my post. Otherwise, I think I might have found a better-than-decent replacement for BE.
UPDATE: I've been wearing this on and off for months now, and I still love it. When I wear BE, I take time to first apply my Bisque concealer, then apply my foundation with two different brushes. It looks great, but it takes time. With the Maybelline mineral powder, I essentially just slap it on with the cheapo brush that comes with it, and my skin tone is even and my flaws are concealed enough for me to leave the house. I'll keep using it as long as they keep making it.
I current use BE foundation and the $25 dollar price tag is a bit tough to handle these days. I ventured out, and decided to pick up this maybelline foundation. This is my first day wearing it- but so far its last all day with the same affect as the BE foundation. My friend even complimented me that I didnt look like I was wearing any makeup. It goes on smoothly and provides a nice dewey coverage. The kabuki brush that comes with it is harsh, so try to use a good brush. If your skin is oily, use a primer and the foundation will look even better. I would definately purchase this product again.
I really wanted to like this foundation. I have very fair combo skin. The lightest shade was way, way too dark on me. Also, after applying it, my face got that all warm, allergic reaction feeling prompting me to wash it off quickly.
i bought this foundation a week or 2 ago, and i must say that i love it! :D it gives me good coverage even without concealer . (i use the mineral power concealer too!) they give me perfect coverage. i used to use revlon colorstay. i loved that stuff but i just wanted to try something new. and i've been wanting use mineral foundation for a while so i heard alot of great things about this and i got it. i love this, it gives me perfect coverage, but the color aint so good. :( i got the lightest shade and its still a little itty bitty dark. not enough to make me look like i'm wearing a mask but, if you look long enough, you'll know. but that's nothing to worry about! lol. :D
i don't use this as much as a used to, but i still think it's an okay product. the colors go kinda dark, so i have to mix it with my other loose powder to make in look lighter, which i don't mind. ehhh i'd say it's okay, but it's not really at the top of my list.
This stuffs brilliant, difinately comparable to BE, and by far the best of the DS MMU offerings... MMU really helped my acne-prone skin, I've been working my way through them all to find the best (Silk Naurals! Cheaper, and slightly smoother with fewer ingredients). My skin will break out over anything but seems to love this foundation, and even after Max Factor's excuse for a 'natural' mineral makeup nearly burned my face off, this one covered me up, and even calmed my skin slightly while it was recovering. The colours aren't great, but they go pale enough for my casper complexion, and I find the cover very buildable, and as long as you blend it right, it can look very natural. It does need blotting after a few hours but I don't use a primer or finishing powder, and it does stay on pretty well! Big thumbs up for this one!
I am loving this stuff!! I bought it when I ran out of my regular loose powder, and I figured Id give this a try sinse its supposed to be more natural. I apply my foundation 1st and concealer, then I set my foundation and stuff with this powder. It gives my face a really healthy glow and doesnt look cakey or un-natural. I really really like it a lot!! I actually like it better than B.E when I used it back in the day!! Good job Maybelline!
