This is a product I have purchased several times. I've tried other heat styling products, but always come back to this. The trick for me is to use the right amount. I had to play with it to get it right, but I find if I spray it fairly lightly on my hair right after blowdrying, then apply my makeup and let it dry thoroughly, I get the best results. I then comb out my hair and either flatiron or use a curling iron. My hair is fine and slightly thin and this adds body and a bit of hold. Some of these types of products leave my hair way to stiff and even dull the shine a bit, but this one is great!

A good Redken product for those who like to use a flat iron. A little goes a long way I have figured out using this product, too much, too crunchy, not good, lol. It's a product I would definitely purchase again should I use a flat iron again. Redken has been one of the few hair care lines with some really good to great products that deliver on their promises/claims in my personal experience/opinion. Overall rating/grade on this product: "B+"
"Starch" is the perfect name for this spray. Take it as you will. I bought it after all reading all the great reviews but I was let down :( Don't get me wrong, when I curl my hair, my hair is kept curled all day long. But, it's... not quite sticky, not quite hard, but... well, starchy. After I'm done styling my hair, I FEEL like my hair should be hard, but surprisingly, it's not. It's... a weird texture instead. It also doesn't look that hard. But, I still don't like this for several reasons. First, it makes my hands sooo sticky. I have to run to the bathroom as soon as I'm done with my hair. Then, I have to spray each strand before curling so I use a lot of product. It's also pretty expensive. I think I bought it at Rickys NYC for like 15-16 dollars or so. The smell is really weird too. Very chemical-y. And the build up... crazy. So, if all you care about is your hair being styled all day, then go for it. But, if you care about all the other stuff, then don't buy it. I use Garnier Surf Paste instead which is sooo cheap, under $5 and keeps my hair soft and curly. I can also style my hair without heat when using the surf paste so that's another plus. The surf paste actually held my style even in the rain today. But anyway, that's another review. On the whole, I would not repurchase. I don't even know what I'm going to do with the almost full bottle I have left.
I so wanted to get the great results here that many others have gotten. Alas, it wasn't to be. This did nothing for me. No added volume whatsoever for my fine, straight hair. I would've had better luck with Cameron Diaz's concoction...lol. Plus, the bottle was weirdly shaped. It was hard to hold and spray at the same time. Awkward. I will definitely not be buying this again.
This stuff is the worst! I bought it based on reviews...but nobody ever said the product smells like my Grandma's perfume. How hard is it for them to make it smell a little bit better? I tried it for the first time this morning then came to work. I'm embarassed everytime I walk past someone hoping they don't get a wiff of my hair and think I spent the night in an old folks home or something. Oh and the product does nothing. I could spray water on my hair and get more oomph.
Great stuff. My hairdresser started using this on my hair and I had to go and buy a bottle for myself.
Keeps my fine, heat-styled hair in place brilliantly without any crunchy or product-y feeling.

This stuff is great. I have very fine hair that's been bleached and dyed, resulting in frizz on top of the usual flatness and flyaways. This product makes my hair smooth and manageable and it holds style all day. So far, it's the best styling product I've tried.

I LOVE this stuff. Just spray a little on wet or even dry hair and your style holds ALL day! Blow dry or use irons and it holds the style! Doesn't get stiff or sticky and leaves no residue. This stuff is just great! I have been using it for years and every time I stray and try something else (cheaper) I always regret it and come back to this.

This is my hg styling product. i will never stop using this! It works on whatever hair type you have. I use it when I straighten and I use it when I curl. It keeps hair in place and does what it needs to. It smells nice too.
This is a MUST HAVE. It goes good with wet or dry hair. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT

I have boring hair - medium quantity, fine texture, shoulder-length. It's not "thin" in the sense that my scalp shows or anything, but it definitely lacks "oomph" no matter what I do. Enter Redken Spray Starch. After reading all the raves here, I swapped for it and tried it out last night. I lifted up sections of damp hair and sprayed it lightly at the roots, then blow-dried while lifting up sections with a large paddle brush and aiming the hot air on the underside of the roots. Even at that stage, I was amazed at the gigantic, almost bouffant hair I now had! Then I flat-ironed after *very* lightly spritzing with more Spray Starch. Amazingly, my hair stayed hugely voluminous and straight through a busy, hot night of bartending. The roots didn't fall, and the ends didn't frizz. This is literally a first for me. And best of all, while my hair didn't feel like its usual silky-smooth self, I could still run my fingers through it without losing the volume! It didn't feel like crispy hairsprayed hair that you can't touch for fear of breaking the hold. It just had "grip", but was still very touchable. I can already tell this product will lead to buildup (come on, its power ingredient is potato starch), but for those women like me, who can never achieve big hair, this is worth the weekly clarifying shampoo. I am so excited to try this with my curling iron next!
