A dermatologist recommended this product to me for scabs, scars and cuts and she was right about it!

This is a good product for healing scabs and scars. Especially scabs as it moisturizes and lessens scaring. I always thought the best way to heal a scab was to dry it out but actually it is best for it to heal moist as otherwise you get left with a nasty red scar.

I know from years of experience. I dont have bad skin but occasionally I suffer from awful blisters on my face related to nerve problems I have in my temple and face, when these blisters erupt they leave nasty scabs which often lead to scars lasting several months. I always used to dry them out but find cicaplast heals them better by providing protection and moisture.

This product also helps with scar healing although, application of fresh aloe vera and aspirin masks are best for reducing redness.

This is also useful as a lip balm for chapped lips.

I tried using this as a primer and have reduced one star as I did not like it as a primer, although this product is not sold as a primer anyway. However I have sensitive skin and this broke me out. I would therefore not recommend it as a primer unless your skin supports lots of silicones as this cream is full of them.

I like the packaging, easy to get a small amount of product appropriate for scab/scar size and also it is hygienic.

Overall a good product, good at doing what it is supposed to do, ie heal rough, calloused, scabby, scarred skin but not good as a primer.

it does not include mineral oil and it is not comedogenic (as contrary to its competitor avene's cicalfate) but includes parabens unfortunately, to me its not ok for the daily use. it looks very greasy when first applied, but it is just a gelly texture and does not cause more sebum or acne. i bought cicaplast because i also wanted to try it as a primer after i watched a makeup tutorial video from lisa eldridge. i think the texture is too slippery to be a primer. according to me, its healing results for wounds or acne are also exaggerated. i use it sometimes on my face as after sun care or as a night cream or under my eyes. btw, it is only shortly effective for dry lips. UPDATE: do not use it under your eyes because it stings

have to admit, this product was not my choice to buy! My husband like it and insist me to take it, i was against , could not understand clear where i can use it:) Later, at home, i was holding the tube in my hands with ironic smile...And decided to read about it in Internet, was surprised with so good reviews! Still didnt believe, but decided to try. I wash my face, apply it on dry skin as a primer - i loved it the same second!!!!! I always use foundation, powder, blush, and my skin getting oily ans shiny in some zones (if it is summer, in all face:)), but Cicaplast stoped that! I use it 2nd day, and cant believe my eyes! And one more thing.already in first day using which = 1 application before make up, i didnt find one black spot which was so deep and i never could get rid of it! Bravo, Cicaplast!!!!!!!!! Since now and on, it is my must have!!

HG status definitely applies for this product. I always say that this product is an absolute must for both first aid and beauty purposes. I've had this for a long time and for some reason it's one of those products that I always forget I have. I envitably then try some other remedy only to realize that Cicaplast is usually the best option. Anyways, this product is fantastic at treating any dry patchs (including the lips) but my fav usage is for any times my skin is incredible sensitive, dry, and/or burned. I've used this time and time again post-sunburns or cooking burns (after the initial polysporin/blister phase). I find that it really helps promote healing, minimizes scaring, and soothes the skin. Highly recommend!

I purchased this after seeing it on one of Lisa Eldridge's makeup tutorials, the one about makeup for acne. When she applied this as a primer and told me what it was for, I was sold instantly and knew I had to try it. I bought it online for about £10 which I think is quite cheap, considering how much I have spent on other primers that do a worse job. I have been using this product as a primer and post-acne treatment and I have to say I am highly impressed.

Firstly, this product as a primer is pretty much perfect. It forms the exact sort of barrier I want from a primer whilst treating the imperfections I am trying to conceal. Not only that, but it lasts all day. If I put this on at 7am, it doesn't budge until I take it off at 7pm. I have been using it with Vichy Dermablend aera teint foundation. Also, whenever I have used primers in the past that have not worked with my skin, I usually get several little whiteheads here and there on my face by the end of the day. This has not happened with this product which leads me to believe that is is thoroughly effective at forming a barrier to stop foundation/dirt/general grime seeping into my pores.

I have also been using this product as a treatment for the destruction left behind from my terrible habit of picking at every imperfection on my face. If I have the smallest spot I will pick at it until it is way worse than how it started! This product obviously can't get me out of that habit but it makes the after effects much less severe - I have less redness and the blemishes seem to be healing a little faster.

So far, I am very impressed with this and love using it as a primer. I will be sure to update this review in a few weeks' time when I have been using it a little longer!

EDIT 16/02/2011: Okay, I have been using this for about three weeks now and ready to give my final results. I feel like I have stumbled upon a giant secret here - I love love LOVE this stuff and don't know why more people don't know about it! I have been using it as an under make-up primer five days a week and on my makeup-free days just dab a little on my problem areas (Acne scars, blemishes, thread veins) and my skin has cleared up so much. I still have a few marks here and there but they are on the way out and I have not had any new spots since starting using this.

I really love how when I take my makeup off at the end of the day, all the makeup I put on at the start of the day comes off on the pads - which means it's not being absorbed by my skin! I think this is the reason I have not had any new spots. Maybe in a few weeks time I will - shock horror (!) - be able to go out of the house without wearing foundation!

EDIT 05/09/2012: Still using this awesome product. I still have some acne but it's nowhere near as bad as it was when I first used this product. I also notice that the Cicaplast really helps my foundation to stay on all day - far better than any other primer I have ever used. I think it just works really well with my skin, and my skin loves the ingredients.

I stumbled upon an article in a magazine about winter-proofing your skin and liked what I read about this wonderful stuff!

It's meant to relieve sore chapped skin but having had quite bad breakouts due to stress i switched to Dermalogica with great results but anything you can use to help your skin i'm willing to try, so I read a few reviews and people are using this as a primer also. I dont know if it has helped my skin any but man is this good as a primer. I never use primers but a small amount of this after Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream and my regular MAC F&B foundation, concealer and NARS powder and my makeup has stayed on brilliantly all day with only one touchup of concealer and MAC Blot Powder at lunchtime around my nose and chin. My cheeks which are normally glowy/shiny but since using this they are still dry to the touch. It's incredible as I have oily skin and after using it 2 weeks straight it hasnt broke me out either.

This is packaged in a hygienic tube with small nozzle and I need so little it will last a long time and only cost me €14.

I'm very happy with this and I will update if needs be. continued >>

What this is, as described by the company:

"Cicaplast accelerates the skin barrier recovery process with a formula containing:-A mineral complex of copper, zinc, and mangance to promote epidermal barrier recovery. -Madecassoside: to help restore the balance in the epidermis barrier and optimal skin recovery. -Its higher water resistant, antibacterial adhesion texture acts as a protecting barrier. Perfectly absorbed, non sticky and easy to apply. This hydrating and soothing fluid relieves tightness."

Why I have been using it:

Whith Winter weather striking (hello, snow!) and the constant temperature changes between the cold outside and the centrally heated inside, my face skin is acting up like it is every year around this time. As a result, my skin is getting dry, tight, more sensitive and red, and my cheeks are flakey. This is all very uncomfortable but also not very attractive, with or without makeup on top.

I actually knew the product already, as I had used it to help a big scar healing after a mole got removed on my face, and it had worked greatly for that purpose. Since the product claims to relieve tightness and heal flaked dry skin, I thought I really needed to try it under my makeup.

The result:

My skin healed completely in 3 days. THREE days, people, with only one application in the morning! I have been fighting with these dry cheeks for years, spending whole Winters looking like a nail file, and now it's all solved in 3 days.

Also, this proved to be a fantastic makeup base! It is non-sticky and easy to apply, it makes the skin really smooth and foundation application really flawless and lasts perfectly all day.

In short: this product does exactly what it claims and doubles as a primer (although I need to check if you could use it on a regular basis on non-damaged skin, since madecassoside is a medicinal ingredient). I haven't been that enthusiast about a skincare product in a long time!

Price: European gals should find this easily in pharmacies for a price under 10€ depending on the country, which is quite a good deal. US gals can order from Amazon for $18.50 ofr 1.3oz.

This stuff is amazing. I fell one day, got some bruises around my mouth that looked quite ugly. A friend recommended Cicaplast to me and after few days I could see the difference. It helped to heal the bruises and prevent evident scars on my face. Excellent product, like most of La Roche-Posay stuff.

feels nice on skin, didn't clear up any of my scars or blemishes. i've only been using it for 3-4 weeks but from the rave reviews on here i thought it would work quickly. i'll keep using it in case anything changes. i'll update in a few weeks
