This is a really creamy eyeliner. It glides on very smoothly onto my lids and I love it! I have dry lids so I appreciate the more gel-like and very creamy consistency in this eyeliner. The color is really black which is always a plus. The packaging feels nice on the hand with the glass container and the sturdy lid prevents it from drying out. I have monolids and the this liner lasts pretty long on me. It does crease slightly alone but I always set it with eyeshadow so that makes it stay put. I will say though, this eyeliner does not last long on the lower lashline. For me, it did smudge after about 3 to 4 hours.

Personally, I much prefer this over Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner. L'oreal's formula is creamier, which makes it easier to work with. It also dries a very rich black, versus Eye Studio, which dries sort of chalky due to the drier formula. The staying power is also fabulous- I've noticed both the L'oreal and the Maybelline liners fading over time or after a lot of physical activity, but the L'oreal tends to fade more "gracefully" into a more smoked out look, as opposed to the Maybelline which tends to become more crusty. To date, this is the best gel/cream liner I've tried, and it's available for a very reasonable price and in easily accessible places such as the local drugstore and supermarket. Based on the reviews I've seen here on MA, I don't feel the need to try its HE competitors anytime soon like Bobbi Brown and MAC fluidline because this product has met and exceeded my expectations, and I don't expect to be blown away again just by paying double the price for a HE product.

Why did L'oreal discontinue the HIP Cream liner? It was dark, matte, and amazing. I was so pissed when L'oreal came out with this product because I knew it meant that the HIP liner would be discontinued.

On to the review of the actual product...in a word, this sucks! It smears like almost nothing else that I've ever used. I noticed smearing and transfer after about 4 hours. By the end of the work day, I looked like a hot mess. The interesting thing is, this is supossed to be waterproof, but the HIP lasts longer. I'm going to try this one more time, and I will set it with powder. Overall, I'm upset that I purchased this.

Edit: I tried setting this with powder. It barely helped. The color is nice, but it wears horribly. I'm going to return it. continued >>

Before I mention anything I do have very oily eye lids.
THIS PRODUCT SUCKS!! I literally look like a panda in an hour.
I was using the annabelle smudge paint and that product smudged WAY LESS than this product (and hence the name smudge paint!)
I always tightline my upper lash line and since this product is not water proof (my fault for not checking) it smears EVERYWHERE in like 15 minutes. I also tried a thin line on my top lash line but it smudged on to my lids like there's no tomorrow..
I bought the annabelle liner for around $6 CAD and this was $13. More than double the price!
I really don't understand why everyone's raving about this product...
the pigmentation is quite nice but that's pretty much all

Wow! So glad I took a chance. It looks and stays better than the Bobbi Brown and MAC I tried a few years ago. I should say that part of the looking better is that my (absurdly) eyes aren't pink and burning.

The texture is lovely and easy to control. Lasts perfectly on my upper lid and not perfectly but at least as well as any other on my lower lids.

I even like the brush it comes with!

I don't know what I am doing wrong, as other reviewers feel this is really black. I cannot get a solid true black line with it, it looks greyed out like cheap liquid liner on me. I much prefer my Lineur Intense.

Wanted this and got a super great deal. First impression is that the container is way cute, brush is soft and I love that it actually has a cap, versus the Maybelline one that has a plastic slip that I've lost long ago. The formula is creamy and gel-y, it goes on smoothly and comfortably and makes a clean line. I think even above the Maybelline one. The only downside so far is that the brush is a bit too soft, and while it's nice, for liner you need a bit of stiffness and shortness to get the point really well defined. I had this problem with the Maybelline one as well in the beginning until I started leaving a bit of eyeliner on it to keep the bristles totally sealed together. Works, yes, but sanitary, no. So there's a chance I have to do that with this one as well since the brush 'splits' when you are drawing sometimes. I didn't have any smudging issues and wore no primer. True to form, I will probably wear one on each eye tomorrow just to see what lasts longer/which is blacker. :)
UPDATE: Just used this and all my liners on my hand, and then did makeup with it. It's AWESOME. The line is clean, cleaner than some liquids and WAY better than Maybelline. It goes well over a liquid (sometimes two different formulas don't mix) and is a deep, super dark line. When I washed my hand, it didn't come off. I needed makeup remover. This is a huge plus for me!! I put it in my water line and lash line and it looks amazing. Going to see how long it lasts in my lash line (going out tonight). I usually wear liquid out and gel during the week, but this is great for both (I layered with liquid on the lash line for tonight).

After reading all the rave reviews on this, and desperately looking to replace my ELF cream liners without having to get Fluidline, I caved and got this product in black and espresso. I was mostly looking for something that wouldnt run down my under eye area after a few hours. I like gently lining my lower lash line, I feel like it completes the look, but the ELF ones would just not allow it.

The first couple of days using the Loreal liner, I was pretty impressed. It really is super black, very opaque. On the second day, it started to run into my under eye. Ive found the only way to prevent this is to really really really pack on the primer before I use it(I always use primer, but more than usual is what this requires), but even then Im still smudged out by the end of the day. Forget about wasting time doing precise liner looks with this, it will smear to crap by 2pm. Very disappointed, but I guess its better than ELF. Ill probably use it up and then get Fluidline.

I received this as a gift from my MUA buddy Radblanc and I agree with prior reviewers, it's the best drugstore eyeliner I've ever used. It's really, really black, and has a satiny (not matte) finish. It comes with a nice easy to use brush and goes on very easily, smoothly and evenly. It also stays on all day without smudging (once it's dry). Really great new product, thanks Radblanc!

I bought this on the advice of a friend who has had a terrible time being able to apply eyeliner. She felt this was the best she had ever tried and loved the brush that came with it. I have to agree that it goes on easily and that little brush is actually a gem. The color is a highly pigmented black that gives a much better appearance that MAC's fluid line in black track. The only problem is that by the end of the day it is smeared at the corners of my eyes, which the MAC one never does. But for the price, especially at buy one get one 1/2 off, you can't beat this eyeliner. Hands down the best drugstore eyeliner!!!
