I know not every product works for everyone but come on folks, filling in your eyebrows properly is not rocket science and in my opinion, does not require a high-end product. What it does require is a good shape to start with. Learn to pluck your brows properly or get a professional to do so. No product is going to give you full (natural looking) thick brows if you overpluck or an awesome perfectly shaped arch. Now, on to the product.....I have dyed red hair and have my hair brows also dyed when I get my hair done. I am also over 40 and my brows are beginning to thin. I've used powders and pencils and I like both but I mainly love this pencil because the Auburn shade is a perfect match for my brows. I get my brows done occasionally but I mostly maintain them myself. The brush on the other end of the pencil is also awesome. The trick for me to making a pencil look natural is to gently brush it in. The key is to gently brush it in. I think technique is almost as important as quality products in my opinion. Yes, I know it's hard to believe and perhaps too much work for some folks but you do have to sharpen this pencil yourself...No problems with it being waxy or coming off. I'm on my 2nd pencil of this and I love it.

Why, oh, why didn't I read reviews here before I bought this worthless item. Greasy, waxy, color comes off when you use the spoolie on the other end. The blonde shade I bought should be called terra cotta flower pot because that's the color it came out on my brows. Then I see the how difficult it is to sharpen.

So bad. Avoid at all costs.

I don't understand what Maybelline was thinking with this one. The main problem I have with this is the packaging. Basically it's made like a pencil.... but it's plastic and impossible to sharpen?

My experience: First time using this, filled one brow then went to sharpen the tip with a normal sharpener (thinking it must be sharpen-able because it didn't make sense for it not to be.) It fit but was really difficult to turn and would not sharpen evenly. No matter what there would be sharp jagged plastic pieces sticking out. The tip would also break off every time I tried to sharpen it rendering it pointless. After about 10 minutes of struggling with the dang thing I eventually threw it away.

Apparently there's some special sharpener you can get from Maybelline's website just for this "pencil" but it's not even worth it. The product itself is waxy and nothing special. It's really depressing to take something out of the package, use it once, then immediately throw it away. Don't waste your money ladies.

The absolute worst eyebrow pencil I have ever purchased. In no time at all the tip was worn down and it is very difficult to sharpen. Please ladies, DO NOT purchase this. I agree with the person who said it's waxy...very much so! Wish I would have read the reviews before I purchased. Complete waste of money!

Yeah, this is pretty bad. I ignored the reviews because they had an auburn shade, which is pretty rare. I do like the spoolie brush on the end but that's it. The shade is fine but the formula is waxy. When you brush it to blend disappears completely. And yes, it it impossible to sharpen.
I only got this because all the displays I've checked have been out of Define-a-Brow. Hope that isn't DCed.

So I bought this product the other day. I usually use Mac Eyebrow pencil in Spiked. Here in Sydney it is little expensive to buy, so I thought i would try an alternative. Bought this from Priceline for $11.50. The colour is good, however everything else sucks!! I thought it may of been a wind up, but you need to sharpen it, and when you do, it is almost impossible to get back to the orginal "master shape". do not buy this product, it is basically a one time use only! I think i will just stick to Mac from now on.

I have a love-hate relationship with this product. I love the product itself. It really fills in my brows when they get waxed too far (I know sounds weird, but it kinda makes sense, I think XD). It fills them in, without looking ridiculous, and it has the shaper at the other end. The only thing I hate about this, is that you have to SHARPEN it!!!!!
I thought would just wind it up, because it looks like a wind-up gimmick, but I couldn't find where to wind it up (Obviously because I then found out you have to SHARPEN IT T_T )
Keep in mind, this product is PLASTIC, how you sharpen it without it f*cking up, I have no idea. Apparently you have to buy a special Maybelline sharpener for this. But the product itself I love, you just need to make sure you buy the right colour :)

Hope this helped <3

This has to be the worst brow pencil I've ever used. I got the light brown shade and applied it to my left brow. Even though I could see the pencil tip getting smaller I could not see any product on my brow. Then I tried to comb it through and it made my brow shape wonky. Couldn't even stand to apply this to the right brow. This is being returned immediately. Total crap.

This is hands-down the best eyebrow pencil I have applied. It lacks the reddish hue that so many other brown eyebrow pencils have, goes on looking natural, and lasts. BUT, I was one of the people who automatically assumed it must be a twist up pencil due to its plastic casing. I twisted; I pushed; I pulled. I then pulled out a sharpener, thinking, "Well, I think this product is broken/defective, but MAYBE sharpening will work". Nope. The tip broke off about 7 times when I tried to sharpen it, and I had to throw my sharpener away, as it was destroyed. Like another reviewer, I threw away the pencil and went and bought another one, because I thought the first had been defective. When it also didn't twist, I did some research, and lo and behold, I was on the right track with the sharpener. I guess I just need to buy a brand new one (and probably replace it once a week when it wears out from sharpening thick plastic). If this pencil twisted up, or was at least made of wood for easy sharpening, it would be PERFECT! So sad.

When this pencil gets dull, which happens FAST, the plastic that surrounds the actual product is pain to sharpen. It's super hard to spin in the sharpener. I like the product but the packaging sucks. Product is nice, pigmented with a waxy consistancy. Brush on the other end is good as well. Please change the plastic, a retractable pencil, that would be great.
