i have six nars palettes now and i just can't stop myself. thy're the best! skin deep is very natural albeit a bit boring, but it works. i look young for my age, so too much makeup makes me look like an eight year old who went psycho in her mother's cosmetics drawer. skin deep has three eyeshadows: the all about eve duo, which are two shimmery beige/champagne colors and blondie, which is a matte light brown. the blushes are also matte finish (zen and ninotchka) that tends towards the brown color family. i'm not a big fan of the blushes. i prefer nars's shimmery ones. i wasn't even aware he made matte blushes until i purchased this palette. the lipsticks make up for it though. there's bambi, manhattan, and viva las vegas. they're all nude colors, but vlv is the standout of the three. it is a gorgeous light brown with subtle shimmer. i'm not sure how this palette would look on a pale or cool toned person, but the colors are so natural, i would assume that it would work well for everyone. i know for sure though that it looks great on people with yellow undertones. i use this for work a lot because it looks very serious and no nonsense. it's my grown-up palette.

The colors a great. Very neutral, awsome for a basic work look. The case is very sturdy and has a huge mirror. The colors are earthy tones and look alright on my olive complexion. To really wear the lip colors I have to blend them with other darker lip colors. I love this pallete because all I need to bring with me is this and im done! I gave it 4 lippies because its so expensive. :) Probably wont repurchase.
This is a fantastic basic palette. The shades aren't dramatic, but they are very wearable--I use at least one color from this palette nearly every day. The only color I'm lukewarm about is Bambi, which is wearable on me, but it's lighter than I would prefer. I'd definitely buy this one again!
wow i am actually surprised by this palette. it looks so blah and boring cuz the colors like so typical...but when you put it on...wow. really puts you together. it's soooooooo expensive but most likely i'll be repurchasing this. way cheaper than getting everything inside separately. i thought i loved my cats cosmetics six kitten kit. but i think i'm liking this better. 2 shimmery beigy/champagney e/s. 1 matte brown. 2 earth tones blushes and 3 wearable nudish lipcolors.

If I could have designed a colour palette that would be perfect for me it would have been Skin Deep. I reach for this almost on a daily basis and the colours just compliment my colouring so well. In fact, I have almost used my current one up so a purchase is in order, I would never be without this now! 5 Stars!

I swore that I would not pay $58.00 for a pallette, but, what can I say? We got a 20% discount that at Sephora that day, which helped. After my Sephora makeover using the pallette and much prompting from some pals, I bought it(sigh). I'm "golden" (light olive) with dark brown eyes and hair. I wanted colours I could apply in a few minutes, i.e. on the elevator on my way to work - and this is it. Everything blends together beautifully so that you look pulled together, not overly made-up. Perfect.

Wow! Who knew such a plain looking palette could make me look so amazing?! I really had my doubts about it since the blushes (and lipsticks) looked so brown. But somehow this combination of colors really works for me. I look really put together and nice when I wear the colors from this palette. I typically wear the medium All About Eve shade lash to brow, Blondie in the crease/outer corners and the lightest shade to highlight the browbone. I occasionally apply the lightest shade to the inner corner of my eye. I apply a brown/bronze liner and mascara and my eyes look amazing. The blushes work for me. I never would have thought so, but they do. I usually apply the darker shade as a slight contour and the lighter shade on the apples of my cheeks. I will say that I use Viva Las Vegas more than the other lipsticks in this palette.
This is the perfect "no brainer" yet beautiful look for me. I look completely finished yet not overdone. I love that I can bring it on my work trips along with my foundation, liner and mascara and that's all I need!
**EDIT** The other two lipsticks were just too orangey brown to work for me. I scooped them out and put in my Clinique Fizzy and Stila Jane and now this palette is near perfect. I wish they'd take those two lipstick shades out. Viva Las Vegas is great though!
I waited a long time to get this palette. When I first went to the Nars counter, the SA said that my MMM skin tone needs colors, and the the skin deep palette is for a J.Lo look, not best for someone like me. So I bought the Rapture palette first. But recently I bought the Skin Deep, at first try, I used all the colors (except on lips), the effect was a wonderful monochromatic face. I can see that the colors work well to put a look together, and if used seperately, the effect would not be as nice. Overall, I love it, even though the SA did not recommend it for me. continued >>
For Eyes: All About Eve and Blondie; For Cheeks: Zen and Ninotchka; For Lips: Bambi, Manhattan, and Viva Las Vegas. Compared to other NARS palettes, this one is fairly boring; though, in this instance, boring is not a bad thing. All of the lipsticks and e/s are shimmering beige-nude, including All About Eve (shimmer beige/pink beige), which is one of my everyday staples. Very practical…I would definitely repurchase
The first time I tried this, it didn't really do anything for me. The eyeshadows are not pigmented enough. I'm a MMM, NC35.
I decided to try this again and wow! it looked so much better. I add more layers of eyeshadows and it allowed me to achieve the smokey eye look. Looking at the bright side, for once I might be able to see the pans of my eyeshadows!
I always thought the smokey look made me look like I've been punched in the eye. Skin deep is as close as I can get to having a smokey eye look that I so hanker after, even though it was a tad too shimmery.
The lipsticks are so-so. But will repurchase again because this palette is great for a minimal fuss look. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.
